Whiskers Warfford

"Whiskers (formerly Socks) is a wonderful kitten. He is very playful and affectionate. After we had him for a week or so, I just had a strong feeling that he was really missing the cat he had been fostered with before. We have only ever been a one cat household, so with much nervousness we decided to foster another cat from the shelter, 11-month-old Lucy. Whiskers thinks she is his best friend in the world, and that she is the greatest thing EVER. He follows her everywhere and does everything she does. So, thanks to Whiskers, another cat has a home, and we are having a great time with them both".

- The Warfford Family

Trixie

"When we adopted Trixie, her wonderful foster mom told us "You just won the dog lottery" and boy was she right. Trixie is a tough cookie and has come a LONG way in her social skills. We couldn't have a better pair of sweethearts to share our home with!" – Barbara

Stella Gray

"We can't thank you all enough for Stella, she is so smart and she has learned several new tricks. In addition to sit, she now knows lie down and shake and she's still a champion fetcher. Ashley and Van Gogh (now Roxy and Oreo) Allen

Good morning.  I have been wanting to write you all and let you know what a blessing these two cats have been in our lives.  Ashley, now known as Roxy, is still adjusting a bit but she we can all tell she is warming up to us.  Van Gogh, now known as Oreo, is doing wonderful as well.  He is the most loving and playful cat I have ever met.  We wake up most mornings to the cats chasing each other down the hall, mostly started by Oreo.  My kids are very excited every morning to run downstairs and make sure the cats have food and water.  I have also attached a picture of my youngest son with Roxy and my oldest son with Oreo.  I believe that the cats get along and like having each other for company.  As you can see by the third picture, they do every once in a while snuggle and cat-nap.  We could not be more pleased with the company that these two cats are giving us and the love that we are all sharing right off the bat.  They are beautiful, healthy animals and we thank Red Dog Farm for giving us such a great opportunity to bring them into our family.  You all do a great job and we appreciate all that you have done for us!!!!  I would love to help Red Dog Farm in any way that I can to further their generosity towards animals and their care!!!  Thanks again

Mr. Peabody (now Cosmo)

We received this wonderful update on Mr. Peabody who was adopted from us last year from a couple that live in Maine...

Hello Red Dog Farm & Lisa,
Greetings from South Portland Maine! Cosmo, Andy and I are writing to give you guys an update on Cosmo's (formerly Mr. Peabody) progress and new life. First off I would just like to thank everybody at Red Dog Farm again for being so accommodating and kind to us. We found Cosmo on your website & came all the way from Maine to adopt him! Lisa was his foster mom and I could never thank her & Rocket enough for taking such good care of Cosmo until we could pick him up. He bonded with us so quickly we couldn't even believe it. The whole trip home to Maine he rode in my lap & looked out the window at the scenery. He loved the snow, even though we didn't get much this winter. He has his very own winter boots and ski jacket- lol. He is mama's snuggle bug :-) and when he's not snuggling with me or his daddy, you can find him cuddled up with one of his kitties! Cosmo gets to play every day with his best friend max (my Grandparent’s 2 yr. old beagle), they go all over the place together. Their favorite places are the beach and the local dog park. Cosmo does excellent off his leash and listens to all his commands perfectly! He has also been given his service papers for working as a therapy dog for me so everywhere I go, Cosmo can go too! He loves to walk through Wal-Mart and the mall and soaks up all the attention he gets for being such a handsome boy. I have attached some photos of Cosmo so everybody can see him now. Thank you all so much for giving me the most precious gift I’ve ever had, he is truly our little angel.

Warmest Regards, Michelle, Andy & Cosmo

As you can see Jade loves her forever family!

Hunter Riehle

I am thankful that I have been able to help an old dog who many, (including by myself for a day or two) would have considered unadoptable simply because his was old.  As a rescue group, we see so many animals being surrendered for so many reasons that it makes us smile when we can help one.  It makes me smile even more when I get to say thank you to an "older" friend and help them have the time of their life.

Thank you Hunter for showing us never to count a dog out.  In honor of National Adopt-A- Senior Pet month, Hunter and I would like to encourage everyone to consider an older friend as their next friend.

-Lauren Riehle,

Executive Director

-The Hendryx Family

Boo

Boo is doing good in her new home. She and her new best friend, Chili are settling in together pretty well.  She has discovered that she loves the spoonfuls of canned dog food she gets on top of her kibble, chewing a rawhide, roaming the backyard and barking at passers-by.  She has had no accidents of any kind and is figuring out the doggie door and doing well on walks. Thank you again!

-Val

Tex recently stopped by the Red Dog Farm office to show off his new family. We think he is one lucky pup and it's obvious that he is in LOVE with them.

Buzz Nutt

Buzz is settling in and had a good first day in his new room with our daughter. His foster mom/family did a great job with him as he is so gentle, even when he is playing - and he is very playful!  He likes to climb inside our daughter's dollhouse but mainly likes to sit at her desk with her as she does her math.  He slept with her all night in bed and did the "purr in your face wake up thing"!  Many thanks,
-Cindy & Family

Look how happy little Norman is with his new cow budy! He is such a sweet calf and we're so glad that he'll have a fabulous life with his new family.

JC and his mom stopped by the RDF office today for a visit.  JC looks great and is total love with his new family.  He says thanks to everyone who works with or helps support Red Dog Farm.

Brodie Garbett

Dear Red Dog Farm--this is just to say thanks for taking me into your rescue--and thanks for connecting me with Ann.  She turns out to be ok (although she is pretty fussy about dogs not jumping up on people).  She takes me for walks by the river every morning, though, and she has neat friends (they have dogs too), and she has a bunch of cool squeaky toys.  We're doing great (and I love those great toys! I think Ann is sending a dumb picture of me squeaking the big snake--it's the best one!)

Your friend, Brodie

And a note from Ann: Brodie is a delight, as smart as he is beautiful and sweet.

Thanks Red Dog, Ann Garbett

Piper Baker

As you can see Piper is now living the life everydog dreams of. We are so happy Piper found the perfect forever family.

-The Kent Family

Maximum Bliss

After two long years of living outside and then undergoing heartworm treatment for several months, Max is a happy and healthy boy who is absolutely adored by his adoptive family.  We are thrilled to see Max doing so well.  Congrats to Max and the Bliss Family on a happy adoption!

Katie Buchanan

"We are absolutely smitten with Katie!  She has been a joy to have around the house and is so well behaved.  The vets at North Elm loved her and are very excited to have Katie.  There are definitely some fear issues when it comes to being outside and walking on a leash (moving cars are not her thing!), but we are slowly desensitizing her.  She does much better when she can face the outdoors alongside another dog buddy.  Doggy obedience class starts on July 19th with Carolina Dog Training Club. Katie has been out to the barn multiple times, and is much more comfortable walking on a leash at the barn than through the neighborhood.  She loves to run around the outdoor ring and even jumps small jumps with Andy.  People in our neighborhood constantly stop us to tell us how adorable she is, and I cannot get over those floppy ears.  Thank you so much for helping us find her and working so hard to develop and grow Red Dog Farm!"
-Cara and Andy Buchanan

Austin D'Andrea

"Just a quick note to let you know Austin is doing great!  As you can see from his pictures, he is a very happy boy. Austin is very intelligent and a fast learner. He has a wonderful disposition and lots of personality. We walk in the park every day and go to the “Bark Park” regularly, which is absolutely his favorite place to visit. Austin is also very protective of his home and Mom, and a couple of weeks ago he frightened off a would-be burglar – lucky for me! He is good company and always a joy to be around.  Adopting Austin is one of the best things I have ever done! Thanks for all the good work you do at Red Dog Farm."

-Annemarie D'Andrea

Sam Krautwurst

Sam (the darker horse) was taken to the prison farm when his owner could no longer afford him.  We took him in to our foster program and quickly realized what a gentle, sweet boy he is.  Sam was adopted and now shares a pasture with a buddy named Lightning.  Congratulations Sam!

Rusty, Snickers and Molly

The Franzese family adopted Rusty, Snickers and Molly from RDF a year ago and sent us pictures of them recently.  They all look great!  We love the goat jungle gym they have built for them (and it looks like the goats love it too)!

"Butch (formerly "Moose") is one spectacular boy and exudes utter JOY.  Butch lives a beautiful life with John and his best canine friend Jahn, a precious Akita/Pit mix we adopted from Guilford County Animal Shelter."

“Lucy and Studley” were adopted by a family in northern Virginia and have settled in beautifully!  As you can see, the youngest member of the family is especially fond of them.  Studley has a new saddle and gives rides to children.  Lucy is still on a diet but will get a saddle as soon as she can fit in to one.  What a great life for these two lucky minis!

Remy and Wendall

“Remy” (was “Roxanne”) and “Wendall” were adopted from RDF a year or so apart by two families who are friends, so they have lots of play dates and have become the best of friends!  We love this picture of these two RDF alum enjoying a play date together.

Skeeter and McGee Chung

Skeeter and McGee came to us from two different situations but were adopted together by a family in Spartanburg, South Carolina and have become great buddies.  Here are some pictures of them enjoying their new home, where they have tons of poison ivy and thick brush to eat.  They love it!

Bonnie, Clyde, and Hobo

"Here are a few pictures of the herd.  I love the one of Hobo in the woods... looks like he is in a jungle.  It probably goes without saying that he has eaten everything green out of that area now.  Bonnie is a little piglet and really likes my daughter Jill -- probably because she rarely goes to the pen without a cut up apple or carrot.  And Clyde is really starting to come out of his shell now... I got my first good picture of him today (he was running from me with the camera prior to today).  We are really enjoying them... thank you so much!"

-Kara

Cassie Dudash

"Our family adopted Cassie from Red Dog Farm in April. She is doing wonderfully!  I first want to compliment Lauren for all her help with the adoption. I initially called about another dog on your website. Lauren was an excellent listener and was wise enough to tell me that the dog I was calling about may not be the best for our family, but that she had another dog in mind that may fit. That dog was Cassie and the rest is history!!   Lauren was 100% correct!  We are Cassie’s third home in her short year and a half long life. As her foster mom stated, “Cassie was an overgrown puppy without manners.”  We are very thankful that Cassie’s foster mom, Kelly, is a dog trainer and worked with Cassie while she provided her temporary care. We continued working with Cassie in our own home. My 10 year old daughter, Cassie and I recently graduated from a Basic Pet Obedience course and have already registered for the next advanced obedience class! Cassie loves the training and is proud of all of her skills!  Cassie is very loving, never knows a stranger, wants to please us, and is perfect for our family. We walk her daily, give her lots of “jobs” to do and lots of TLC!  We recently took her hiking in the mountains of western North Carolina , which she loved!  We are very grateful to Red Dog Farm for helping us to find our perfect family pet! She is truly a success story!!"

-Susanne Dudash [September 2010]

"Today is our one year anniversary of adopting Cassie from Red Dog Farm!!  We are celebrating today as she has become our best friend!!  She is a wonderful dog and we are forever grateful to Red Dog Farm for matching us together!!"

-Susanne Dudash [April 12, 2011]

Lily (was "Godiva")

"Here's a picture of puppy Lily.  I adopted her on January 29th. She's doing very well.  Lily and her big brother Bear are best of friends and play constantly.  Thank you for all that you do."

-Pat Bradley

Myrtle

“Boston” (now named Myrtle) came to us as a very timid mini mule who had not had much human interaction.  She was adopted by a professional rider as a companion for her 17.2 hand show horse, “Ferrari,” who is also a bit nervous about being alone and needed a small companion who could share his stall and travel to horse shows with him.  As you can see, there may be a huge size difference but these two have quickly become great friends!

Sophie

"Sophie (right) is such a sweet dog, and I am so glad that she found Red Dog Farm to give her a new home.  She has adapted so well to her home and her younger brother, Scooter (who was adopted several years ago).  Everyone thinks they look alike except Scooter has more spots. Although she loves to be indoors, she loves her big back yard, deck, and especially her toy box.  She snuggles, is obedient, and loves to be near Scooter.

Thank you for this wonderful addition to my family!!"

-DGB

Gumbo

"We adopted this guy from you 3 years ago. He was 1 of 3 brothers, Simon, Alvin, and Theodore.  We renamed him Gumbo.  He is doing great and is a cuddle bug.  He loves the outdoors and riding in the jeep with the top down.  He has brought a lot of joy into our home.  Thank you all so much."

-Chip White

Tigger Melvin

Tigger was adopted from RDF as a puppy as has grown in to a beautiful adult dog.  She enjoys going to doggie day care a few days a week and is spoiled rotten by her forever family.  We love to see pictures of our alumni puppies!

JC

"JC is doing well here in his new (and forever!) home.  He is such a gentleman and an absolute doll to all of the company (human and animal) we have coming in and out!  He goes on walks every day and you could run into us at Battleground Park on Saturday mornings!"

-Stacy Wentworth

Emmie Spencer

"Emmie (fawn dane) has been with us a few months now and is fitting right in with her human sister, along with another dane, pug, 3 cats and 2 frogs. She is glad to finally be recovered from her spay and gastropexy so that she can play with Brutus (black dane) full force. She follows him everywhere, even trying to snuggle and lay down where ever he is. They play so well together and have a great time! We're thankful she was meant for our 'furever' family.  Thank you RDF and to her foster, Country Kennel - you're awesome!"

-The Spencers

Lacy Moore

Lacy came to RDF when her original owners lost their home and could not take her to their new apartment because of “bully breed” rules.  Lacy is a happy, sweet, fun-loving girl who doesn’t have a mean bone in her body.  Her new owners have absolutely fallen in love with her and are spoiling her rotten!  We are so happy for Lacy and hope that more and more families will open their minds and hearts to pit bull mixes like Lacy who have so much love to give.

Bart and Bell Watkins

"We have had Bart almost a week now and he is doing great.  He is such a sweet dog, he loves everyone he meets and gets along with all the dogs.  His favorite thing to do is to lay in his dog bed.  Thank you for a great pet.  I have attached pictures of Bart and my husband riding Bell.  Thank you again for some great animals.  Keep up the great work."

-Addie Watkins

Mabel Regan (was "Bluebelle")

"In September my husband adopted Mabel (the cat) for me for my birthday. Our only concern was how she would interact with our two puppies. Well, I thought I would let you guys know that she is going just great, and as you can see, getting along just fine with our boys.   Thank you again for all of your help with her adoption!!"

-Karla Regan

Bailey Hamner

"We adopted Bailey in October. She is a wonderful dog and brings lots of joy into our home. We are so glad to have her!  Here is a picture of her in her forever home. Thank you for the work you do for all the animals."

-Sandy Hamner

Thelma and Louise

Thelma and Louise are growing up!  Their new parents report that they are doing great and love hanging out with each other.  They even love their kitty siblings.  We are thrilled that Thelma and Louise are doing so well with their new family.

Bridget Heath

"Hello friends at Red Dog Farm! We wanted to give you an update on our wonderful Bridget. She is so much a part of our family, we can't remember what life was like before she came into our lives. Our cat Tyler has adjusted wonderfully to her, although he still wonders where that bark comes from since he can't do that. She is doing wonderfully in obedience class, has been with us to concerts in the park in Asheboro, a dog pool party, a dog gala, and numerous other places about town and in the state. She loves tennis balls, pine cones, walks in the woods, belly rubs and so much more. Thank you so much for helping us to find the dog of our dreams!"

-Sam and Kelly Heath

Bo (formerly "Am")

"Here is AM (since re-named Bo) as he is relaxing on his "guest" bed.  He is a great cat and I am so happy that he is living with me and my other cat Ella (although Ella is not as sure as I am!). Thanks to Red Dog Farm for all you do!"

Rahlee (one of Noel's puppies)

"Hi, I'm Rahlee and I want to wish all my brothers and sisters a Happy Birthday!  I like the beach and get to go almost every weekend to play in the ocean and ride on my golf cart!"

-Rahlee [September 17, 2010]

Toby (formerly Ares, one of Noel's puppies)

"Toby is a super sweet dog.  He is so happy in his new home with our family's children and cats. He enjoys running, hiking and swimming in Lake Brandt.  He has a big yard to run and play in. He also likes to play catcher when we practice T-ball.  He likes to dig in the yard and never misses an opportunity to steal and chew a pair of flip-flops!  We love him so much.  Thank you to everyone at Red Dog Farm for introducing this little guy to our family."

-The Goehring Family

Wilson Watson

"Wilson cracks me up because he loves falling asleep with his head in one of our shoes!  He is adjusting great and has been such a tremendous joy in our lives.  He has put on some muscle on his hind leg that was hurt before we had him and has never let on that it bothers him.  He is such a well-behaved young pup -- everyone that meets him falls in love with him IMMEDIATELY -- even my parents who never allowed me to have a dog when I was a kid!  My mom told me the last time we visited her that she and my dad hoped our future children are as good as Wilson!  My friends invited us to their lake house last month and we brought Wilson with us -- they kept going on about how we lucked out on our first dog because Wilson is so amazing!  We feel very blessed to have him in our lives. Thank you again!!!"

-Julie Watson

Harley

"Harley is doing great!  I think he finally knows now that he has a home for good!!  And I think he knows there is no reason to be afraid of having to leave again.  Harley has so much love to give.  And I too have so much love to give him.  He is so sweet and I adore him greatly.  He is safe, loved and comfortable.  I thank you, RED DOG FARM RESCUE, for bringing Harley down my path of life. Thank you so much!!"

-Joanie Baites

Scout

Scout is the first horse we took in to our program.  Although he is blind, that hasn't stopped him from being a wonderful, happy horse!  We were excited to hear from his family about his progress.

"Scout is doing GREAT!  He's fat and happy and hasn't had any health issues. He looks so good these days!  We just love him to pieces.  He loves to be petted and brushed and is just the best guy.  He comes when you call him and is all around happy!"

-Shelli Craig

Rocky

"I wanted to let you know how Rocky is doing. He was nuetered the day he turned 6 months and has been micro-chipped.  We have been to two classes of his puppy education at Dog Gone Fun dog training. We are having so much fun. He already knows a lot -- sit, down, give paw, fetch, and roll over. He's learning more important things now like leading on a loose leash, watch me, come, and stay.  Rocky is such a brave little guy. He absolutely LOVES everyone and other dogs, too. At puppy classes his tail wags the whole time!   He's a healthy, happy boy.  That is SO great that RDF has rescued 1000 animals!  Wow!  Congratulations to you and all your fosters and adopters and to all the wonderful animals that have found homes."

-Tucker Bailey and Rocky

Maggie and Cloe Fitzgerald

"Just wanted to send a new picture of our 2 rescues from your organization.  We love them both so much.  We have had Maggie (formally Bella) for a year now and Cloe for several months.  Thanks so much for all you do!"

-Sheree, Ed, and Eddie Fitzgerald

Jack and Sophia

"The kittens we received from Red Dog are doing great. These kittens (Waldo and Wanda, renamed Jack and Sophia) are wonderful and a joy to be around. Thanks to everyone who made this adoption possible!"

-Lana

Harley

"Just wanted to send you some pictures of Harley. He is just adorable. He loves to be near me all the time, and is always ready for a ride in the car. Harley is the sweetest doggie, and he gets along with my doggie "Noah" and my two kitty cats "Sallie and Sam-Sam".  Also, Harley is very smart!!  Thank you for sending Harley to me!!!"

-Joanie

Navi

"I adopted Navi about 3 weeks ago and she has been absolutely wonderful and I'm so glad I decided to do the adoption through Red Dog Farm. I honestly believe the foster homes really make the difference. I had read that when you got a new kitten you might have to give them a few days to get used to the new home before they would start exploring, but Navi was not that way at all. She was ready to check out my whole apartment as soon as I opened her pet carrier and I really think this is from the people interaction she had already had at her foster home. She loves to play with her favorite shoe string from her foster family. She also loves to take socks and play with them and then hide them under the couch. She also is one of the strange cats that actually likes water. She follows me around and hates to be closed out of a room. She loves to play but once she is done with that she loves to cuddle. She was everything I wanted in a cat and training is going really well. Thank you so much Red Dog Farm and your foster homes for everything you do."

-ChelSea

Ace and John Henry

Ace (horse) and John Henry (donkey) were adopted about a year ago and their adoptive owner, who lives in the eastern part of the state, just sent us these pictures.  The boys look like they are very happy and well cared for.  Ace came to us as a senior equine when his owner could no longer afford to board him.  John Henry was surrendered by owners who had left him in a pasture and not taken good care of his feet.  These two were adopted together and we are so glad to see that they are looking good!

Remy Peters

“Remy” was adopted last year after being found as a stray.  Remy has white fur around her neck where a collar was embedded in her skin as a puppy.  Thankfully she has a great life now and a yellow lab friend to go to the park with.  Life is good!

Tanner Fleming

"Tanner" was adopted after being surrendered by an owner who bought him as a puppy and did not have enough time for him.  In his adoptive home, he has the run of a huge farm and has another dog to play with.  As he is showing in this picture, he absolutely loves watermelon!  We're thrilled to see Tanner living such a great life for a lab.

Major, Daisy, and Eli Johnson

We just received these recent pictures of Major, Daisy and Eli.  These three elderly horses have been adopted from us by the Johnson family of Phenix, Virginia.  All three came from situations of terrible neglect and are now living the high life in their fabulous retirement home.  We hope to find more families like the Johnsons who are willing to adopt senior animals and give them the love and veterinary care they deserve during their golden years.  We sure are happy for these three lucky old horses!

Cheyenne

Cheyenne was adopted by a wonderful family in May of 2010.  She was part of the litter of puppies that were abandoned at a local campground.  Her family expressed their love and appreciation for sweet Chey in an email to us, saying "She is a true sweet heart with just a wonderful disposition. She is doing well and she fills a hole in our heart."

Nugget

"Nugget" came to RDF as an emaciated young horse with little chance for survival.  He had broken bones in his shoulders and had to have two major surgeries to remove the bone fragments and fight off all of the related infection.  To everyone's amazement, he fought through it all and has become a healthy, happy, incredibly gentle young horse.  Nugget was adopted by a wonderful family in South Carolina to be the first horse for their 12 year old daughter who has been part of a therapeutic riding program since she was a small child.  These two are an incredible match as they have both overcome physical obstacles and will encourage one another to exercise and grow stronger.  We look forward to many updates on this new friendship.

Handsome Jenzano

We love this picture of "Handsome" that his adoptive mom sent us.  Handsome is an elderly gentleman who is so lucky to have found a home where he is loved and treated as part of the family.  We hope to find homes this good for all of the other horses in our program.

Tucker and Bella Annie Ferguson

"Tucker and Bella Annie Ferguson" live a dream life - a big farm, Invisible Fence, a cat buddy, and parents who adore them.  What a great life for two pit bull mixes who both came from bad situations.  We love getting updates on these two!

Jimmy Dean (was "Mr. Mu")

"Jimmy Dean" is doing great in his forever home.  He even has his own "pig pool!" A great life for a lucky pig!

Cloe Fitzgerald

"We just brought "Cloe" home from her foster mommy.  She is a beautiful kitten and we love her so much already!  We adopted our dog, Maggie, from you and now Cloe.  As before, we are impressed by how well adjusted she is and ready to come to her "furever" home.  We truly believe your foster homes are the reason.  We can't wait for many years with our Cloe!!"

-Sheree, Ed and Eddie Fitzgerald

Clover and Basil

“Clover and Basil” have settled in to their new home nicely!  They look very happy and we love receiving pictures and updates from their adoptive parents.  We are so glad to have been able to remove them from the awful situation they were in and find this great home for them.

Curtis

“Curtis” was found as a stray and surrendered to Red Dog Farm last fall.  Because he was our first emu, we had a lot to learn!  He quickly won everyone over with his gentle personality and we all enjoyed getting to know him.  Curtis was adopted by a family who had also adopted goats and a pig from us, and he has fit in great on their farm.  His adoptive parents sent us this hilarious picture of him taking a giant bird bath!  We are so happy that Curtis found a great forever home.

Mr. Jones

“Mr. Jones” (right) moved to his new home in Durham, NC where he will be a companion for “Grandma,” another elderly goat who needed a friend.  We look forward to receiving updates from his adoptive family as he settles in, but this picture from his first day in his new home gives us great hope that he is going to fit right in and be a good buddy for Grandma.

Eli Johnson

Look at how much weight Eli has gained in his new home!  He was skinny and pitiful when we picked him up from animal control and he looks absolutely fabulous now, especially considering his age.  We love to receive updates from our adopters and especially enjoy getting updates from Greg and MC Johnson since they have now adopted three horses from us.  We wish that every elderly horse could have the quality of life that Greg and MC have given Major, Daisy and Eli.

Cheerio

Cheerio's mom sent us this cute photo of Cheerio and reports that he is doing great!  He sure has grown into a big boy since the time he was in foster care with us here at RDF!

Laverne, Shirley, Gypsy, Glitter, Telly, and Jack

"Laverne (right) and Shirley (left) have adapted very well.  They love the goats and the two big horses in the big pasture.  We've just received bareback saddles for both of them.  They behave very well when ridden by my 2-year-old nephew.

Gypsy and Glitter will eat from my pocket.  They've come along nicely.  Telly (below, right) is still a bit shy, but she will eat out of my hand as long as she knows there's an available escape route.  We work with them every day.  They have become great friends with the little Pygmy goat that lives here.

Jack (left) has become an outside farm dog.  We have kenneled a mother Catahoula Leopard Hound and her eight five-week-old puppies for a friend, and Jack seems to enjoy having his "bachelor condo" next door to this wonderful family of Catahoulas.  Jack loves the little puppies, and they enjoy chasing him around (such as they can with those short little legs!)."

-Wendy and Blake

Layla

"Well, here is Layla. Our Vet calls her a Southern Siamese. She is still so sweet and very much a lap cat. On sunny days we put her on her leash and let her explore outside. We have made her a foraging toy out of a spice jar and she has three favorite toys -- a pig, an elephant, and a giraffe that she carries around the house in her mouth and tosses them around and takes care of like they are her babies. She gets sad if she loses them. Hope you like the picture, she sure is beautiful isn't she?!"

-Carin

Jack (was "Fletcher," one of Snoopy's puppies)

"We got Jack a year and half ago. This dog is like no other we have ever had. He was house broken in a week (he was a puppy). He never barks inside. We have had dogs all our lives and Jack is one of a kind -- he is so much joy and we can't thank you enough for letting him be part of our family. This is a picture of our first beach trip. Jack was like a little kid -- he wanted to stay out all day. We would love to hear how his other 8 brothers and sisters are doing.  Thanks again!"

-Jane and Craig

Walker Johnston

"Hello to everybody at Red Dog Farm!  We wanted to send you some pictures of Walker in his new home.  As you can see he has made himself quite at home and even gets along great with our 5 year old Persian, Sam.  We love him so much!"

-Joyce, Mid, James & Hutton Johnston

Jodi Spano

When Jodi was surrendered to RDF, we were frustrated with her at first because she didn't seem to listen to verbal commands and seemed to ignore us.  What we didn't know was that she was deaf!  Many thanks to Shiloh K-9 for figuring that out and training her accordingly.  Jodi now lives a happy, healthy life with the Spano family.  Her family reports that not a day goes by that Jodi doesn't get love, attention, and plenty of balls to play with.  We are so happy that Jodi found a forever home that sees her deafness as a unique lovable quality and not a disadvantage.

Belle Atkins

Belle came to us as an owner surrender and now lives in South Carolina.  This picture was taken here on her new mom's first ride on Belle before she decided to adopt her.  Belle is a handful on the ground but an absolute joy under saddle.  We look forward to hearing about Belle's progress as her new family works with her on manners and groundwork.

Major, Daisy, and Eli Johnson

Major and Daisy (pictured together) were adopted by the Johnsons of Phenix, VA this summer.  When we picked up Eli (pictured alone) from animal control six months later, we knew just where this sweet elderly horse needed to go.  We called the Johnsons to see if they had room for one more deserving retired equine, and they welcomed Eli with open arms.  We drove Eli to Virginia so that we could visit with Major and Daisy while we were there.  They look awesome!!  We are absolutely thrilled to see them so healthy and well cared for, and equally happy for Eli that he gets to join them.  Thank you, Greg and MC, for taking wonderful care of these sweet old horses!

Tucker (formerly "Poseidon," one of Noel's pups)

"We got Tucker almost a month ago and he has quickly become a member of the family.  Although showered with toys, Tucker's favorite toys are sticks and leaves outside -- even the 4 foot branches on the ground are no match for Tucker!  Tucker is learning how to play nice with his older brother, Stanley the cat (and Stanley likes to tease Tucker to no end).  We are lucky that Tucker has entered our lives!"

-Chris Bristol and Beth Kuhnlein

Arthur Spangler

"Just wanted to give everyone an update on Arthur.  He is doing great.  The sweetest cat there ever was. If I sit down, he's in my lap.  He follows me around the house like a dog and sleeps beside me at night.  Thanks so much for the opportunity to have this wonderful cat.  I have attached a recent picture of him with his girlfriend, Clarissa.  They romp and roll thru the house playing and then lay down to take a nap together and groom each other.  Thanks again and Merry Christmas to all."

-Karen Spangler

Yancey Huntoon

"We just wanted to update you on Yancey, who we adopted towards the end of the summer.  She has grown quite a  bit over the past few months and has settled into her now home.  She gets along great with our other dog Buddy and loves the constant attention of the kids.  We have recently discovered that she loves to watch TV, especially Planet Earth.  The kids get quite a kick out of it.  She has become a loving part of our family and has lots of room to play out back.  She is looking forward to Santa coming and bringing her a few special treats."

-The Huntoon Family

Rahlee Warrintgton (was "Aphrodite," one of Noel's pups)

"We adopted Rahlee (Aphrodite - puppy of Noel) three weeks ago and she is doing great. She loves her big sister Nicki and wants to play constantly. She is a joy and offers lots of 'puppy love.'"

-Theresa Warrington

Brutus Stowers

"I adopted Brutus in March of this year and he is doing great he is now almost a year old and weighs 65lbs and thinks he is still a puppy, he loves to play with the kids and swim in the pool. Brutus is a wonderful addition to our family.  Just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful work you do at Red Dog Farm."

-Steve Stowers

Tiger Lily Horrocks

"I adopted "Tiger Lily" (Lily) last October. She has been a wonderful pet and I am so glad that I was able to rescue her! She is my little shadow, constantly following me everywhere I go. She is a big purr-er and she loves to play! She is the most animated and spunky cat I have ever met. Thank you for all you do! I have attached a picture of Lily--she definitely lays claim to whatever she wants!"

-Erika Horrocks

Scooby Doo Siepak

"He still wants to chase the cat that runs, but doesn't bother the one that doesn't. Scooby snuffles on him, but not aggressively. Scooby Doo has all his big boy teeth, and is mischievious, but not destructive. He is 52 pounds and still growing fast! Although I think he is more Rhodesian Ridgeback than Great Dane. It is hard to get a good, clear picture of him, he is in constant motion!!   Thanks for all you do for the animals!"

-Mark, Lisa, and Derek Siepak

Maggie Keyser (was "Rosie")

"I thought I would share Miss Maggie’s first Christmas picture with her big brother and sister, Boone and Lily.  She has finished her manners class and is doing great – she has been a wonderful addition to our family!"

 -The Keysers

Dailey Hatch (was "Hera," one of Noel's puppies )

Dailey's parents report that she gives them a "daily" dose of puppy love!  She sure does look comfy in her new bed - she must have worn herself out playing with hew toys.  Dailey's mom came to us as a pregnant stray and had 8 puppies less than a week later.  Dailey sure was lucky to find such a great forever home.

Molly Hayes (was "Melissa")

Molly was adopted by one of our volunteers and looks like she hit the jackpot - doggie PJs and all!  She is 6 months old in this picture and is fitting in beautifully in her new family.  In fact, her adoptive parents are now going to foster another dog for us to give their older dog a teammate when playing with Molly as she tends to wear everyone out!

Tucker and Bella

Tucker was adopted from us after he was found as a stray crossing a busy road.  Bella came to us after being tossed out of a car as a puppy.  Both were adopted by the Fergusons and now enjoy a fabulous farm life.  They are wonderful examples of what great dogs pit bulls are when treated with the love and respect they deserve.  What a happy ending for these two!

Hildy Rentenbach (was "Big Girl")

Hildy looks so happy with her new human siblings in Indiana!  Her mom has informed us that she is now working with a trainer and has learned to walk on-leash or off.  She is also going to start to learn tasks like fetching the newspaper.  Hildy loves her family -- she's protective, yet at the same time, a "gentle giant" that still loves a good belly rub.

Sarina (was "Ella")

Sarina was adopted from RDF in February 2008.  Here she is walking in the garden at her new home in Virginia.  Her family reports that she loves to eat grass, so we're assuming this is one of her favorite hangouts!

Heidi Jenzano

Heidi (the white goat) came to us from Forsyth County animal control and has since been adopted by the Jenzano family in Hurdle Mills, NC.  As you can see, she is fitting right in with the Jenzano’s two other goats.  They report that she is doing great!  We’re excited for Heidi and love seeing pictures of her in her new home.

Bree

“Bree” was adopted from Red Dog Farm last fall after modeling in our “Dogs on the Catwalk” fundraiser.  Because she is a senior girl, she waited a long time for a forever home.  As you can see, she hit the jackpot!  She will be modeling again this year with her adoptive mom, Katie.  Bree enjoys long walks and weekends in the mountains, and she and Katie are a perfect match!

Xuxa and Rico (were "Candy" and "Isaac Mason")

Xuxa (pronounced shoesha) and Rico were both adopted from RDF and now live in New York, where they've brought tremendous joy to their new family.  Xuxa and Rico are wonderful companions and seem to be doing great -- they're happy, healthy, and energetic!

Maddox Wright

“Maddox Wright” has just started under saddle and his adoptive mom reports that he is doing very well for his trainer.  We look forward to seeing pictures of Maddox and Robin out on the trails or in the show ring!

Grace Fleming

Grace came to us as a distress call from an owner who could not afford a veterinarian when his goat went in to labor and was unable to deliver her twins.  Unfortunately the twins died, but thankfully our veterinarian was able to save sweet Grace.  She now has a wonderful forever home with goat friends to play with.

Linus Nichols

Linus was adopted with Winnie and the two of them are the best of friends.  Winnie is very social and Linus is quite timid, so he tends to follow "big sis" around.  These lambs are very special to all of us as they were born in foster care after both of their mothers came to us pregnant.

Ace and John Henry

Ace and John Henry moved to a farm in Williamston, North Carolina where they get to be pets.  They seemed to know that life was going to be good when their new owner picked them up - Ace walked right on the trailer and John Henry only needed a little bit of nudging (quite surprising as donkeys are usually harder to load).  They now have alpacas as friends.  We look forward to hearing more from them in their new home.

Bosco (was "Jacob")

"After adoption we renamed “Jacob” to “Bosco."  Bosco is my father’s nick name given to him by college buddies.  My father is 94 years old.  These pictures are of the puppy Bosco meeting Granddad Bosco...he did not want to leave when it was time to go home. Bosco and our other dog, Anna, are getting along great and we love having a puppy.  All is very well.  Thanks so much!"

-Susan Rabold

Maggie (was "Bella")

"We just wanted to let you know that we have had Maggie in our home for a week now and we love her more every day!  She is a sweet, fun, smart little girl and we take our hats off to her foster family for this.  We believe that RDF's policy of having the animals go to foster homes really helps make their transition easier.  We can tell that she was loved and taught good puppy manners from the very beginning.  Maggie enjoys going for walks, meeting the other puppies in our neighborhood, playing with our son, and taking long naps on her bed.  She is doing great with her crate training and so far as ZERO accidents to report!  Yeah, Maggie!  She is learning come, wait, and fetch. She has been a terrific addition to our family and we couldn't be happier.  We tell everyone we meet about our great experience with RDF.  Thanks so much!"

"We adopted Winnie from you guys in December and she has brought so much happiness into our home since then!  She and Euphrates (the cat) are getting along a little better every day.  She's turned out to be so smart -- we've been able to teach her to lay down, speak, and "show her tummy."  We love her so much and can't imagine our lives without her.  We so appreciate your organization and tell everyone who is considering a pet to check out Red Dog Farm!"

-Christian and Jonny Parsons

Brady (formerly "Lucky")

Lucky, now Brady (far right), came to RDF as a puppy that was found wandering the streets.  It didn't take long for his new family to scoop him up and take him home.  Brady is doing great in his new home, playing with his family, and all of the guests that they get at work.  We are so happy to see Brady all grown up and being a fabulous young gentleman!

Raven Wright

Raven is doing really well in her new home. She is really connecting with her little brother, Will, and follows her new mother around. She also enjoys looking out the windows, relaxing on the bed, and playing with little toy mice.

Winnie Nichols

"Winnie" was born in her first foster home and had to be bottle fed 4 times a day as her mother was injured and could not stand up long enough to nurse her.  One of the RDF volunteers who helped bottle feed Winnie fell in love and adopted her.  Winnie now lives with another young sheep named "Linus" and gets to go for long walks around the farm with her new family.

Otis Bland

"In April we adopted Otis from RDF. We LOVE Otis. He has been an amazing addition to our family. In fact, I told my husband that if I had known the transition would be so great, I wouldn't have made him wait 10 years for a dog!  Otis is wonderful with our two young boys. He is playful but gentle and kind with our cat. He is a great running partner for me. He still has some puppy in him but all in all, we are amazed with what a great temperament and sweet boy he is. I wanted to add that I was extremely impressed with the foster mom who had Otis and her honesty with us through the process. She did not rush us and was completely forthright about how she thought he would do with kids, cats, etc. Anytime I hear of someone thinking of getting a pet, I have been telling them about RDF because we have had such a great experience with you all. THANK YOU!"

-Heather Bland

Sasha Nitsos (was "Anya")

"Sasha is now almost 7 months old and is a pure delight to have around.  She likes to be wherever the action is in the house and is very much a people kitty.  She also loves hanging out with our 90 pound dog, 14 pound cat, and 2 pound bunny.  She loved to curl up in the empty flower pots when she was smaller... Now she has to satisfy her pot urges with sitting on the smaller one, as in this picture.  She has been a wonderfully fun and loving addition to our family. Thanks for all you do at Red Dog Farm and to your awesome cat foster woman Stacylyn!!"

-Wendy Nitsos

Maddox Wright

This is a picture of Garland Graham, founder of Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network, with "Maddox" Wright.  Maddox was adopted by the Wright family in Iron Gate, Virginia.  Garland was in Virginia visiting a friend and went by to visit Maddox while she was in the area.  He looks great!  The Wrights are doing a great job and Maddox is very happy in his new home.  We love to visit our animals in their adoptive homes, especially when they look as happy as Maddox does!

Layla

"Believe it or not, this is Layla. We are so happy with her and she is truly part of the family. In this picture she is sitting like a human taking a nap. She is so good to all the kids that are in and out of our home. She follows me around and is always on me if I am still. Her favorite thing to do is sit on my shouders if the kids start annoying her. Thank you so much for allowing our family to adopt her. By the way, her tail and face have calico oranges in them -- she is truly unique and we love her mustache."

-Carin Ellis

Poochie Datres (was "Rocky")

"I thought you may want to know that "Rocky," one of Snoopy's pups, is doing great!  We had a bit of a rough start -- he was a MAJOR puppy and liked to eat everything in site no matter what it was and he LOVED to bite your ankles when out in the yard... However, after an 8 week "Dog Training in Your Home" course, he is now PERFECT. He is the best dog in all areas. He listens and most importantly is FANTASTIC with the kids. My 18 month old Griffin LOVES this dog more than anything. He lays all over him, hugs him and yes, body slams him, in a loving way. We NEVER have to worry about the response. He is a wonderful dog and we are so glad we found him. His name, however, somehow became Poochie. We weren't sure about Rocky so in the mean time we called him pup, puppy, dog, pooch, then it became poochie. Every name we tried reverted to Poochie. I know he is embarassed around other dogs, but oh well!  Thanks again!"

-The Datres Family

Tallulah LaMoo

Tallulah was surrendered at 3 weeks old because her mother rejected her due to her cleft palate.  We did not seek an adoptive home for her because most veterinarians predict that calves with cleft palates will not survive long term and veterinary technology has not found a reliable surgery or cure to date for cows.  Meanwhile, against all odds, Tallulah continues to grow and thrive and has won the heart of Garland and Gary Graham, founders of Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network.  Tallulah lives with the Grahams and has become very much a part of the family.  She is a beloved pet and wonderful education tool for the rescue network.  She may have medical challenges ahead but she is a happy calf and gets a lot of love every day!

Cheerio

Cheerio was recently adopted from RDF and his new mom reports that he is doing great!  He loves his playpen area and new digs.  He is now the envy of all the bunnies in RDF's program.  We couldn't be happier for Cheerio.

Major and Daisy

Major and Daisy came to Red Dog Farm from different living situations, but were adopted together and now live in Virginia.  Major and Daisy are responsible for a full pasture and have to keep it trimmed down.  They work from sun up to sun down but are sure to find the time to join their human neighbors at the fence for a good chin scratch.  Major and Daisy also enjoy spending time in their private barn when the sun is too much for them.  Major and Daisy are joined by a cat named Grant, a rescued dog, and plenty of horse friends as neighbors.  These two are very happy to have found their way to such a wonderful, caring environment and love being able to just be horses. We are so happy for them!

Cody

Cody is one of the five Sheltie puppies that were adopted from our program.  This a picture from his first camping trip.  He immediately became the shadow of the 2 year old Border Collie mix in his new home and has been great with the kids as well.  It's safe to say that Cody found his way to a very loving home!

Kiwi (was "Jitterbug")

Kiwi was adopted on May 15th at 7 months old.  As soon as he was brought home, it was as if he had been living there forever.  His family has fallen in love with him and they enjoy having him as a part of their family!

Miz Zoe Snagglepus

Zoe now lives in Tennessee and as you can see, has become quite the "Daddy's Girl."  She also loves to go "bye bye" and jump into her mom's purse!  Zoe is adorable and completely spoiled by her parents!

Sir Cosmopolitan Medlin

Since being adopted, Sir Cosmopolitan spends much of his time outdoors, which is his favorite thing to do!  He is at the door every time it is opened, and when not outside, he's prefectly content sitting in the window watching the activities in the front yard.

Star Bronzino

Star was adopted by a family in Greenville, NC.  They just sent us these pictures of her and she looks wonderful! Star has a sweet pasture mate and a little girl who adores her - life doesn't get much better for a horse!

Jackson Wallace (was "Colby")

Jack is growing like a weed and has become quite a traveler, attending all of his new mom's horse shows.  He loves to walk the cross country courses with his mom when she is not competing and he's become quite a favorite of everyone back at the barn.  This picture was taken on the cross country course at the Virginia Horse Center.

Eli

"Eli" is one of Fergie's puppies from the litter of thirteen puppies we placed in new homes last year.  Eli came to visit us at the "Bark in the Park" and we were so pleased to see what a happy, healthy dog he has grown into!  What a handsome guy!

Stella Reittenger

Stella's new family absolutely adores her!  Her adoptive family has been very supportive of Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network and we are tickled that they were able to adopt Stella.  As you can see, her new "big sister" even did a school project about our organization to help us raise awareness.  Thank you, Reittenger family!

Tater Tot

"Tater Tot" was surrendered in February of 2008 because she needed knee surgery.  She had her surgery, made a full recovery and has become an official Red Dog Farm mascot. Tater was a huge hit in the Summerfield Parade in her brand new "outfit."  Thank you Jan O'Malley for volunteering to make her such a cute parade uniform!  Tater is a wonderful teaching tool as she loves attention and will let children groom her, pick her feet, check her teeth, etc.  We're glad she found her way to our organization.

Oliver

"Ollie came to us just 9 days ago (May 3, 2009).  At only 8 lbs. he showed no fear whatsoever and immediately took over as the "big dog" of the household, claiming his position with our two black labs, Pepper (from Red Dog Farm) and Zorro, another rescue dog (75 and 88 lbs) and our white German shepherd, Uschi (107 lbs).  My husband says Ollie has two speeds - All Out and Asleep!  It has been such a joy to watch the world again through a puppies eyes; everything is an adventure.  Though initially my dogs wondered why we disrupted their well-controlled lives, they soon took to Ollie and play with him constantly.  Thank you, RDF!"

-The Garners

Boudreaux

Boudreaux is one of herd of 14 Tennessee Fainting Goats that came to us when their owner passed away.  He and his mother and aunt now have a wonderful forever home with four other goats adopted from Red Dog Farm.  He looks pretty excited about sitting shotgun while his mom and aunt sit in the back seat!

Onyx Rodulfo

Onyx is one of Raven's kittens who was adopted by a family who just moved to Greensboro.  Their other cat is very independent and they were looking for a snuggler. They sure found one in Onyx!

Zoe Combs

Zoe is one of Raven's kittens who now lives with her new family in Tennessee!  They drove all the way here to adopt her because they were looking for just the right tortoiseshell kitten and fell in love with Zoe on our website.

Dottie Faircloth

Dottie sure looks happy in her new home!  We love this picture.  We wish for a wonderful home, a comfortable bed and fun toys for each and every one of our foster dogs.  Dottie is a great dog and we're glad to have found her the family she deserved.

Brady (was "Lucky")

"Brady" came to us as a puppy and we knew he wouldn't be homeless long because he was so cute!  He was adopted by the owners of a Bed and Breakfast in Madison, NC, so if you stay at the Hunter House B&B you will get to meet Brady!  What a great life for a dog.

Nola Harrell (was "Nugget")

Nola was found as a puppy in the middle of a country road by a Red Dog Farm volunteer.  He was absolutely covered in fleas and ticks.  After being neutered and vetted, he was adopted by newlyweds in Greensboro who absolutely adore him.  Nola has two other "dog siblings" to play with and landed smack dab in the life of luxury.  We absolutely love these happy endings.  He was a tiny puppy when he was adopted but look how big and handsome he is now!

Ivy Tunstall (was "Twix")

Ivy (the dog) was adopted from Red Dog Farm as a tiny puppy and is now all grown up!  As you can see, she loves her cat siblings, one of whom was also adopted from Red Dog Farm (Gracie, the gray and white kitty).  Cats and dogs can be wonderful companions for one another with training and supervision and obviously Ivy's dad is doing a great job of keeping the household in balance so that everyone gets along beautifully.  We love this picture!

Polka, Dottie, Romeo, and Amigo

"Polka and Dottie" (white) and "Romeo and Amigo" (brown) were all adopted together and now share a pasture with two fainting goats, making a very happy herd of six.  These four all came from various bad situations (Polka and Dottie from neglect, Amigo from the animal shelter and Romeo had been tied to a tree).  They now have a great life and are very well cared for.  The boys have been castrated and are now very content to "just be friends" with the girls.  We think they all hit the goat jackpot!

Star Bronzino

Star was surrendered when her aging owners were no longer able to care for her.  She is only 9 years old but is a "special needs" horse because she has very limited vision.  Star was a pleasure while in foster care and has very nice manners.  She was adopted by a family in Greenville, NC who needed a well-mannered companion for their 21 year old mare.  As you can see, Star's new human sibling, who is a member of 4-H, is quite excited to have her!

Cassidy

"Just wanted to share some photos of our dear Cassidy who we adopted in November 2008. We were not looking for another pet at the time but when we saw Cassidy we fell in love with her. She is a wonderful addition to our family. We love her very much. She has such a loving personality. We cannot imagine not having her here everyday. She has been to puppy classes and knows SIT, STAND, DOWN, OFF, and COME. We just started Obedience 101 classes and we all have lots of fun. Thank you for allowing us to adopt her!!  As you can see, she has a tough life ;-) She has her sweater on ready to go out into the snow."

-Dawn Phillips

Roxie Williams (was "Snickers")

Roxie was adopted about a year ago, and boy has she grown!  She now weighs about 60 pounds!  Roxie and her family recently moved into a new home and she absolutely loves the open space, and especially loves when company visits.  She has learned a lot since her puppy days, including how to sit, lay down, get up, roll over, and shake.  Roxie's favorite things to do are take naps with her mom and get belly rubs.  Her family is very grateful to have her!

Anna Williams

"Anna Williams" was found as a stray and was very timid, but she has been adopted and has come out of her shell and become a wonderful family dog.  Her new parents take her on long walks every day and we think she pretty much hit the jackpot!

Solo Neely (one of Fergie's puppies)

"Solo has been an amazing dog!  She's actually too smart for her own good!  She has learned to catch the Frisbee out of the air, loves to play fetch in the woods and has even learned to get cold beverages out of the refrigerator for us.  Her daily routine is to drag out one-by-one all her blankets into the TV room for us all to see.  She also likes to put her stuffed duck in her mouth and then nudge the tennis ball around the house with her nose.  She cracks us up everyday!"

-Scott Neely

Jack and Jeb Wheeler

Jack and Jeb (once "Alfie" and "Andrew") were adopted in September 2008 and are now living happily in Charlotte, NC.  It looks like Jeb thought the Christmas tree was a wonderful giant cat toy!  Their parents couldn't imagine life without these two!

Hannah Knight

This is Hannah (one of Fergie's puppies) at Christmas with her human siblings.  Her family reports that Hannah is a great dog.  She passed two classes with Carolina Dog Training Club and even received her Canine Good Citizen Certificate!  They love Hannah dearly and are very thankful to have her as a part of their family.

Olli (was "Olive Oil")

Olli, formerly known as Olive Oil, is now in very good hands!  Her family adopted her so that their other dog, Quinlan, would have a companion.  Clearly their plan worked perfectly, as there is now nonstop playing and chaos in their house!  Though you can't see Olli's face, you can tell she's having a great time playing with Quinlan on her first night home.

Chloe and Little Miss Miracle

Chloe came to us from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter on October 20th after being picked up by animal control.  She was adopted soon after and lives on a wonderful farm where all of the male goats are whethers (neutered), so imagine her adopter's surprise on February 8th when she went to the barn to find "Little Miss Miracle!"  The gestation period of a goat is 150 days, so we did the math and figured out that Chloe came to us 40 days pregnant.  Goats don't "show" like other animals and it is very often impossible to tell that they are pregnant without doing an ultrasound.  What a happy surprise this sweet kid was!

Brownie and Kit Kat Sternberg

Brownie and Kit Kat came to us from a situation of terrible neglect almost one year ago and have been in foster care ever since.  They were separated when Brownie went to a trainer and have just been reunited in their new forever home at Still Water Farm in Summerfield, where their new owner is boarding them.  It looks like they are already catching up!  We look forward to receiving updates on these two special horses.

Lucy Hall

Lucy was found as a pitifully skinny stray but has definitely come a long way.  She now lives in Connecticut and it looks like life is good!  She has become great friends with her family's black lab, Maggie, as well as their cat, Oliver.  Lucy seems to be adjusting well to the Connecticut weather and has a blast chasing Maggie through the mounds of snow.  Her mom couldn't sound happier -- she reports that "[Lucy] is just doing so well and still brings me so much joy every day! She is my best buddy and follows me everywhere I go."

Maddox Wright

After over a year in foster care, Maddox was adopted by a family in Clifton Forge, Virginia and they report that he is settling in very nicely.  Maddox came to us as a yearling from a neglect situation and was raised by his foster mom, who taught him to trust people.  Now he has a forever family and a young girl who is very excited to have him!

Dakota Riley (was "Josie")

Dakota (on the right) was adopted at our yard sale at the Summerfield Food Lion in the fall of 2007.  Her family reports that she is "92 pounds of goofy joy!  Her big sister, Bailey (12 years old), is doing a fine job of teaching her how to take advantage of her two-legged family!"  Scroll down to see what Dakota (then "Josie") looked like as a puppy!

Walter Avila

Walter enjoyed being carried around by the children in his foster home, so we knew these cute girls would make Walter a happy kitty!  Walter's new sisters were thrilled to take him home.  We hope to hear more from Walter's family as he gets older.

Lily Betz

Lily was adopted at an EarthFare event in the summer of 2007. It was a perfect match!  This adorable photo captures Lily's fun personality!

Nelson

Nelson has settled in nicely and enjoys playing with his new siblings and snoozing with his dog sibling, Pee Wee.  Nelson is a sweet boy with a typical terrier attitude that his new family claims fits right in. His mom and family are so happy to have him.  We look forward to hearing all about Nelson's antics with his new family.

Coco Farrar

Coco came to Red Dog Farm in July from a situation in which she had almost starved to death.  She was the skinniest horse any of us had ever seen alive.  For her "before" pictures, see our "Adoptable Horses" page.  As you can see, her story has a great ending!  She gained over 300 pounds in her foster home and is now moving to Apex, NC to live on a 200 acre farm.  We are so happy for her and wish for this kind of ending for all of our foster horses.

Elvis, Johnny, and Caviar

"Elvis, Johnny and Caviar" are happy as can be in their new home!  They have goats and miniature horses to pal around with (all adopted from Red Dog Farm) and their adoptive mom feeds them apple slices as treats.  They've won the hearts of all of the neighbors as well and get lots and lots of attention in their new home.  What neat creatures!

Keetah and Sunny Janowsky (was "Skeeter" and "Scarlett")

A match made in heaven!  Keetah and Sunny sure did luck out when the Janowsky family decided to adopt them.  They seem to be having fun with their new human siblings!  "Mom" reports that all are doing great and are enjoying their new family members.

Moose Hodges

Moose's family shared this photo with us and reported that Moose is doing well and LOVES going hunting with his dad.  He looks adorable in his hunting vest!

Jackson Wallace (was "Colby")

Jackson was adopted by one of Red Dog Farm's large animal veterinarians and his wife.  As you can see, he is not only well cared for but well dressed too!  He was sporting one of his many sweaters in this picture.  Jackson's older brother "Gunner" was adopted from RDF too!

Magnolia "Lola" Coll

Lola is moving to Smith Mountain Lake and will have another lab mix to play and swim with - sounds like a great life to us!

Murphy Lane

These two children were very surprised when they realized that really got to take Murphy home with them - he was a surprise Christmas present from their parents, who had been planning to surprise them for weeks.  Murphy will have two children and a golden retriever to play with in his new home.

Sable Mae and Sake Graham

"Sable Mae" and "Sake the Bomb" Graham were both foster puppies who were adopted by Garland and Gary Graham, founders of Red Dog Farm.  As you can see, a Bichon Frise and a Pit Bull Terrier really can be friends - best, best, best friends actually!  Sable and Sake are inseparable and tend to bust stereotypes everywhere they go.  Their newest best buddy is Smokey Joe the kitten, who likes to sleep on their heads!  We are pretty sure that Rodney (the "Red Dog") is smiling down from Heaven as he taught all of them to love one another no matter their breed, age, or species!

"New Puppy" Glover

"New Puppy" Glover hasn't been named quite yet because there are two little boys who are about to be VERY surprised for Christmas!  We can't wait to hear what they name him!

Winnie Parsons

Winnie Parsons might have been the only blonde in a litter of black puppies but Christian and Jonny think she will fit in just fine with them! Winnie is going to have a cat as a sibling so we look forward to hearing about how that is going!

Andy Black

Andy Black and his new dad sure do look excited about the idea of being together!  Poor Andy and his siblings were found on the side of a busy highway with a bad case of mange, and now they are ready to start great new lives!  If you go to Bill Black Cadillac you just may see this little man...

Bear Avent

"Just wanted to shoot a new pic of Bear laying around with grandpa.  This has become his second favorite thing to do at the lake, other than swimming.  It's hard to believe he will be a year old in February.  He weighs 60 pounds and is still growing... Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!"

-Bo, Dee, Bear, and Raider

Emmy Mansson-Smith (one of Pepper's puppies)

"As Emmy's first Christmas with us approaches, we wanted to thank you for all that you do and for helping bring her in to our lives.  She has become such a wonderful part of our family since she joined us in March!  She's such a sweet loving little girl, always up for kisses and cuddles!  She is also very smart and well behaved -- we graduated from obedience school in October.  We often wonder how her litter mates and mommy are doing -- we would love to hear to hear their updates, too!  Thanks again!"

-Jenny Mansson Smith and Darren Smith

Jack Layton

"We adopted "Jack" this summer after seeing him at the Summerfield Founders Day celebration.  He is doing so well.  Jack has been taught to walk nicely on a leash and to jog beside us during our bike rides.  He and Jeb (our other lab) are best friends and play at every chance.  Jack and Jeb go with us on vacation.  He has been swimming in the ocean, hiking in the mountains, and fishing in Virginia.  Everyone comments on his shiny coat and muscular frame.  He is a STUD!  Thank you so much for Jack and what you do."

-David, Helle, Jonathan and Christina Layton

Brownie

Brownie's new owner, Alex, is so excited to have his first horse!  Alex is taking good care of Brownie and is taking riding lessons in order to stay safe with a young horse.  We look forward to watching Brownie and his new cowboy grow up together.

Jack Black Darnell

Jack Black (on the left) was adopted from us as a companion for "Mr. Grey," who was also rescued by his owner.  Jack Black's dad reports that he and Mr. Grey are inseparable.  They love to eat, sleep, and play with one another.  The photo shows the boys being awakened during their Sunday afternoon nap.  What a cute pair!

Sable Mae and Smokey Joe Graham

Sable Mae and Smokey Joe Graham were both abandoned at one point in their lives, but have since found a home right on Red Dog Farm headquarters!  They were adopted by Garland and Gary Graham and they make quite a duo!  The two won the Graham's hearts with their gentle nature and fun personalities.  This photo shows what wonderful companions pit bulls are when raised in a loving and caring environment.

Lucy Tarlton-Smith

Lucy was found in the middle of Wendover Avenue in 2007 and surrendered to RDF.  She was adopted by a young couple in Charlotte.  They just sent us this new picture and they report that Lucy is "the sweetest, smartest dog EVER."  She seems to have hit the jackpot and they even brush her teeth and take her to Lake Wylie to go swimming!  We love these updates!

Boone Foster (was "Lucky")

Boone Foster looks very happy with his new family.  Here he is (on the left) with his three new siblings.  His dog sibling is a Husky, just like Boone!  You can bet he loves being a part of this bunch and never gets bored!

Freckles DiMond

Freckles was adopted by a wonderful family in Greensboro and now has a little boy to grow up with.  She'll especially love living across the street from a park.  What a great life for this sweet girl!

Beaker Nash (was "Lefty")

"We adopted Lefty (now Beaker) in mid-September.  He seemed really shy at first but now we definitely know different.  He is a very happy and healthy pup who we are super happy to have as an addition to our family.  We are absolutely in love with Beaker!  Thanks so much."

-Tara and Jay

Brody Mize (was "Dough," one of Dottie's puppies)

"I adopted a sweet schnauzer mix puppy from you this past Christmas, that was at the time named "Dough." His mother and grandmother [Dottie and Jazz] were rescued off the side of the road and the next day she had pups! Since then I have renamed him Brody Man and turned him into a downtown boy. He totally brightens up my world each day and has been a great experience. Today is his birthday so I thought in commemoration I would drop you a note to say THANKS!!"

-Jaye Anna Mize [October 9, 2008]

Nibbles Noeller

"Nibbles" (pictured with his new Border Collie sibling) was found as a stray on a busy road and didn't even make it out of our veterinarian's office before being adopted by Dr. Noeller!  What a lucky pup to go from being a stray to being owned and loved by a veterinarian.  We are so happy to know that he will always receive excellent care.  The best part is that we get to visit him every time we take a new stray pup to the vet's office!

Panda Naylor

Panda was adopted back in April at one of our adoption fairs.  Her mom reports that she is doing great and she still hasn't stopped growing!

Lucy Hall

It looks like Lucy is getting a bit "camera shy!"  This might be because her proud new mom takes pictures of her non-stop!  Lucy's mom reports that Lucy is doing great!  She gets to go to the park every week, where she enjoys running and playing.

Lilly Smith

Lilly was surrendered at 10 weeks old and has been adopted by the Smith Family of Summerfield.  The Smiths have 9 children so Lilly will never be lonely!  Pot bellied pigs are very smart, loving animals and we are so glad that we found a great family for Lilly.

George

George is a 28 year old donkey who was surrendered and is now happy as can be in his new forever home.  As you can see, he gets lots of attention from his two human siblings!  George plays a very important role in our animal rescue organization because he acts as the "babysitter" for various foster horses who live at his forever farm while waiting for forever farms of their own!

Itsy and Bitsy Hopkins

Itsy and Bitsy went to their new home on August 23rd and they will be spoiled rotten for sure!  They have 4 acres to graze and a brand new barn - what lucky goats!  Thelma and Louise will be moving in with them soon and the herd of four goats will be very loved by their new family.  We love these happy endings!

Butch Styron

Butch's family sent us a couple of updated pictures of their baby boy! They report that Butch is growing like a weed and is so happy.  He is absolutely a treasured member of their family.

Chloe

"Chloe" is one of Snoopy's puppies who was adopted when she was 8 weeks old.
She is growing up now and we were so glad to get to see her at our dog wash.
Her new family couldn't say enough good things about her and they are doing
a great job with her training.

McCoy Byrd-Stanley

McCoy came to our dogwash at EarthFare to visit and we were so glad to see
him!  McCoy came to our rescue skinny and heartworm positive and he is now
healthy and happy!  His new family loves him dearly and we love that they
bring him to visit us.

Zoe Pruniski (sibling of Pete, Carol, Peanut, and Susie)

We are now living in San Francisco and Zoe loves going to the off leash dog parks and the beach where she wrestles and runs with other dogs endlessly. She even gets to visit a ranch every once in a while and races all around for hours on end. We love and adore her and couldn't be more happy--thank you!

-Julie, Brian, and Zoe Pruniski

Luna (was "Shiba")

Luna now has a wonderful home in Georgia!  Her new family drove all the way to Greensboro to adopt her and we are so happy for all of them.  What a great ending for a great dog.

Bear Brown

Bear's new family reports that she is doing great and still growing!  She is now 6 months old and weighs about 35 pounds.  Bear has tons of energy and loves to run around the backyard with her big sister Lucy.  She also loves to be chased by the cats at her grandmother's house -- this hilarious girl sure knows how to keep her family amused!

Bear Avent

Bear is 4 1/2 months old, 30 lbs., and growing up!  Still very much a puppy, but he's doing great and learning something new every day.  He's potty and crate trained, and the "manners" are in progress.  We've been taking him out to the Bark Park to play with the big dogs for some socialization, and he's loving it.

-Bo, Dee, Bear, and Raider Avent

Butch Styron (was "Moose")

Butch was found as a stray puppy and thankfully we were able to find a wonderful family for him who understands what great dogs pit bulls are when raised in a loving environment.  Butch has two dogs to play with in his new home as well.  We are so happy for him!

Hope and Handsome Jenzano

Hope and Handsome are elderly quarterhorses who were literally starving to death in December 2007 when animal control and the US Equine Rescue League asked for our assistance.  When we picked them up, their skin was stretched around their ribs and we had to feed them small meals soaked in vegetable oil every six hours.  After six months of love from Red Dog Farm volunteers and good veterinary care, each has gained over 200 pounds and they were adopted together!  Hope and Handsome were an absolute joy to work with and we are so, so happy for them.  As you can see, their new family is excited to have them and we think this is just a perfect home for these wonderful horses.

Mingus Burns (was "Birkenstock")

Mingus is one of Barbie's puppies and was born in an animal shelter.  He was lucky enough to be taken in to foster care at three days old and now has a forever family to love him.  We hadn't seen Birkenstock since he was teeny tiny so we were thrilled to get this picture!

Sable Mae Graham

Sable came to Red Dog Farm after being thrown in a dumpster as a puppy and rescued by a good samaritan.  She won Garland and Gary Graham over with her sweet, gentle nature and they decided to adopt her and let her help change the unfortunate public perception that pit bulls are mean dogs.  Sable is a joy to be with and fits right in with Rodney, Boomer, Boo Houndley, and Sake, so she is now a permanent resident of Red Dog Farm.  If you think pit bulls are inherently mean, we urge you to come meet sweet Sable Mae!  Watch out though, because she might lick you to death :)

Lizzy Beaver

Lizzy has been doing well since she was adopted in October 2007. It took some time for her to get adjusted and potty trained 24/7 but she has accomplished it! Her stomach is very sensitive, so she has overcome many obstacles in a short time. And my how she has grown! Lizzy gained almost 10 lbs. and grew a few inches longer two months after she was adopted! She is a very fun and energetic ball of energy! She has really come out of her shell. She loves to go for rides in the car, chase things, explore, and lay at your feet. Lizzy always loves to say "Good morning" and "Good night" by laying on me and giving kisses while her tail is wagging constantly! She is a joy to have and full of surprises! Thank you Red Dog Farm!

-Lizzy and Abby

JoJo lucked out and is now part of a very loving family with two playful young boys.  Their mom said she stuggled to get a picture with all three boys looking at the camera at the same time!  What a cute little crew they make!  They couldn't look happier!

Solo Neely

Solo's family purchased a "puppy lifejacket" for her so they can take her to the river with them.  Here she is, looking "dog tired" after a long day on the boat!  She has grown a lot since she was adopted, now weighing in at about 30 pounds.  Solo is loving life and her family loves her more and more every day!

Pirate Calhoun (one of Molly's puppies)

Pirate Calhoun is one of Molly's puppies. He is very active and really enjoys playing with family and new friends. His family jokes that his father may be cross between St. Bernard and GOAT!  Pirate has brought them much joy and laughter.

Bear Deering

Bear's family informed us that he and his new "dog sibling," Sugar, are so very happy together.  They play chase, tug of war, and wrestle without fighting.  Bear has learned not to jump up on people and to wait for the "okay" before eating or going out the front door.  He has brought great joy to his family and they are so thankful to have him!

Bella Annie Ferguson

Bella Annie is having a blast playing with her new brother, Tucker, who was also adopted from Red Dog Farm!  Her family reports that the two of them have been sleeping very well, thanks to the tremendous amount of exercise they're getting!  It sure looks like they're having a great time together and we are incredibly happy for them!

Tanner Fleming

Tanner was adopted last year by the same family who recently adopted Farm Dog.  Here he is sleeping -- literally snoring with his lips flapping -- after he and Farm Dog were finished playing!  What a great match!

Moose Hodges (was "Freddy," one of Fergie's pups)

"Pepper" came to us with her puppies and was very shy and timid.  She learned lots of confidence in her foster home and has now been adopted by a family with children and two other dogs.  She is fitting right in and they love her!  She even gets to sleep in the bed - not a bad deal!  We love endings like this!

Scout Craig

Scout is a blind elderly Appaloosa gelding who was absolutley emaciated when he was surrendered to us. He was cared for in a wonderful foster home where he gained over 150 pounds in 4 months! Scout has been adopted by the Craig family and now enjoys the affection of their children as well as the company of other horses and ponies. It looks like he has trained Mr. Craig to give him a good face rubbing too!

Molly Covil

Molly came to us skinny and pitiful nursing 7 puppies. She was living in the bushes in an apartment complex. Look at her now! Her new dad loves her and is obviously doing a great job because her coat shines and she smiles all the time!

Chance Marshall (one of Fergie's puppies)

Chance's new dad sent us this picture and said that Chance is growing like a weed.  It certainly makes our day to see all 13 of Fergie's pippies in such great homes.  We bet that Chance will eat a lot of sticks in his lifetime!

Hannah Knight (one of Fergie's puppies)

"Hannah" looks awfully comfortable in her new home! She has another dog to play with and that must be what made her so "dog tired" when this picture was taken. We are having such fun seeing pictures of all of Fergie's puppies in their new homes.

Gunner Wallace (was "Fosters")

Gunner was adopted last year and came to visit us yesterday.  He looks great!  His coat is shiny and he has great manners, thanks to training from his new family.  It is so gratifying to see dogs who are neglected in one phase of their lives be so loved in another.

Little Man (was "Boxer Boy")

Who says Boxers don't swim?!  Little Man certainly found a good way to escape the August heat.  He now lives in Virginia and it looks to us like he has it pretty good!  Not bad for a puppy found wandering the streets of Greensboro 6 months ago!

Hershey Mann (was "Waylon")

"Hershey" and his two littermates were all adopted together and have hit the jackpot! Take a look at their new doghouse, complete with air conditiong! Their new human sibling looks pretty happy too. Agni has come a long way from being found alone on I-40!  His new name is Hindu for "God of Fire" because of his bright orange color.  He now has a great family and will not have to worry about making it alone in the wild.

Dipstick

Dipstick was one of Pheobe's kittens and looks like he just woke up from a nap! As you can see from the picture below, Dipstick was adopted along with Momma Kitty and her son Chip, and he doesn't seem to mind changing Momma's midstream.

Layla Cecil

Layla's new mom sent this picture and let us know that Layla is doing great in her new home and loves to go for walks and meet new people.  Many chihuahuas are nervous around strangers but she says that Layla loves everyone!

Grazie Glass (was "Daisy")

Grazie looks like she has it made in her new home!  So much for being a stray out in the cold!  We love pictures like these - after all, why have a dog if you don't spoil it a little?

Dino Whichard

Dino was one of five surrendered puppies fostered by the Whichard family.  Dino's four littermates found great forever homes (see "Bear Whetstone" and "Macy Schneeman" above) and Dino is thrilled that the Whichards decided to adopt him!  He looks pretty happy with Chase and Miranda, two of his human "siblings."

Trigger
“Trigger” came to Red Dog Farm through a referral by a member of the U.S. Equine Rescue League (www.userl.org). Trigger had been living in a ten by ten dog kennel until an elderly couple decided that they could not let such treatment continue and bought him from his neglectful owners. The couple could not keep Trigger, so they turned to the U.S. Equine Rescue League for help, and the League called us. We were told that he was old, skinny, and seemed to have problems with his sight, but that he was very sweet. When Trigger arrived at our farm he was a pitiful sight. His coat was matted and shaggy, he was very skinny, and his eyes watered excessively. He walked in continuous tight circles and seemed to be in pain. Our veterinarian quickly determined that he was suffering from ERU (Equine Recurring Uveitis) and that because his eye infection had gone untreated for so long, he was completely blind. The infection was indeed causing severe pain, which was causing his circling. We scheduled surgery later in the week to remove the badly infected eye, which was not allowing Trigger to see anyway. His surgery went very well and as he began to heal, he stopped circling and started eating. Trigger has been with us for almost three years and is now pain-free and at a very healthy weight. He may be blind, but he navigates his small pasture beautifully with the help of his “seeing eye goats” and is always in his stall at meal times ready to eat. He is an absolute gentleman and deserves every bit of the plentiful love he receives at Red Dog Farm.

Little Man (a/k/a "Boxer Boy")

Little Man (a/k/a "Boxer Boy") was adopted by a couple in Walnut Cove who reports that he is doing great.  They sent us this new photo.  He has a dog next door to play with and snuggles with their cat at night.  What a wonderful result for a young boxer mix who was wandering the streets with his mother and sister not long ago!  Both his mom and sister are in wonderful homes as well.  Little Man's mom, "Roxy Davidson," is pictured above.

Jed Barham (was "Rudy")

Rudy (now named "Jed") was adopted by a wonderful family who lives near Red Dog Farm and he will be able to visit often! He is growing like a weed and his limp is becoming less and less pronounced. His new family understands and accepts his disability and loves him anyway. We think he deserves it!

Maggie Roche-Beal
Maggie and her brothers and sisters were abandoned near and left to fend for themselves.  All of the puppies are now grown and living in wonderful forever homes.  Maggie now lives in Denver, Colorado and loves to hike with her family.

Daisy LaFollette
"Daisy" - a lab mix who was one of 11 puppies born to a female lab, was left to wander the neighborhood streets with her pups. We fostered and adopted out all 11 of the puppies. Unfortunately the owners of the mother wouldn't surrender her. But, "Daisy LaFollette" now lives the good life, as do all of her brothers and sisters.

Sadie Smith
"Sadie Smith" was one of eight black lab puppies born while her mom was tied to a tree outside of Asheboro. Her owner was convicted of over 20 counts of animal cruelty when Animal Control discovered starving dogs and horses on his property. "Sadie" was rescued along with her mom and brothers and sisters, all of whom now have wonderful homes. She came to Red Dog Farm via a referral from the U.S. Equine Rescue League (www.userl.org), which took in all of the rescued horses.
