Cali:   I found Cali with her brothers and sisters in my neighborhood on June 4th.  She is about 7 weeks old. Cali was a little shy at first, but she is coming out of he shell quickly.  Her beautiful orange and black markings make her a standout in the litter.  She is eating well and using the litter box.

Jasmine:   I found Jasmine with her brothers and sisters in my neighborhood on June 4th.  She is about 7 weeks old.  Jasmine is very shy and dainty.  She has the most beautiful eyes!  Although she may need a little extra time to warm up, she is starting to adjust very well and loves to play with her siblings.  She is eating well and using the litter box.

Shadow:  I found Shadow with is brothers and sisters in my neighborhood on June 4th.  He is about 7 weeks old.  Shadow is a sweet, playful little man.  He’s a great eater and has been using the litter box.  He is the first to come out and greet me when I come into the room...especially if it’s time to eat!

I have a dog that my friend left when she had to go back to AZ after her and her husband split up.  The dog was born in 2006.  She has a great personality and listens well.  She knows basic commands, such as sit, lay down, come, and stay at least most of the time.  She is able to shake her paw.  She enjoys going for walks and lying out on the deck.  She currently lives in a home with a minimum of 3 other dogs when there are not foster dogs in the home.  She was in the same home from a puppy until around February of this year.  I have had her in my home and can continue to keep her if you guys can post her and help her find a great home.  Her name is Sadie.  She is up to date on all of her meds and is spayed.  She enjoys lounging and is quite a cuddly dog. She loves playing in the back yard and even though she does great with the several dogs in my home she had been an only dog for her whole life.

Yahoo is a 1-2 year old orange stray cat that we found on our back porch last month. He is very affectionate and loves to play, but he does not do well with other cats. We had every intention of keeping him for ourselves, but with three other kitties in the house (Mac, PC, and Linux), Yahoo just doesn't seem compatible (strangely enough!). We've spent oodles on Feliway products and other remedies to calm his competitive nature, but unfortunately for us, it's just not working out.

When the other cats are out of sight, Yahoo is the sweetest boy in the world. He's always around without being obtrusive, vocal without being loud, and interested without being pesky. And he's really good at playing fetch! Yahoo is neutered and has had every vaccination possible; he's a very healthy boy! He's also super snugly at night, if you let him. We love Yahoo dearly, and we know you will, too. We're eager to find his forever home. He deserves you!

Judson is a male short-hair orange and white tabby who is about 3 years old and weighs about 13 lb.  He is neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations.  Judson is sweet and affectionate.  He took up residence in my yard late last year.  He has been bitten on the same leg 4 times by other cats & contracted FIV from that.  For that reason I cannot bring him indoors with my other cats.  Judson needs to be indoors in a home with no other cats or another FIV cat.

Sadie is a 7-year old yellow lab/golden retriever mix. She has a super sweet temperament and is a great companion. She loves to play fetch and go for walks. Both these horses are home bred, raised by me and have lived with me since birth.  The big gray named "Khatchthewind" AKA "Mouse" is an Irish Sport Horse mare of 12 years, has no vices and excellent manners.. She is barefoot, a very easy keeper, she is lame behind but would make a great broodmare.  Very quiet, was a good mover & jumper.  She cannot be ridden, only used as a companion horse or broodmare.  She has to live out in a large field with a shed, not in a barn or stall!

The bay mare "Evening Star" AKA "Evie" is a warmblood/thoroughbred cross of 11 years, has no vices and has excellent manners. She's looking for a home as a companion horse only and is not suited for breeding due to degenerative bone disease in her hocks (arthritis)  which is hereditary.   She is lame but needs no medication.  She is barefoot also and lives out with her buddy in a big field with a shed and is a very easy keeper.  The reason they are looking for a good home is because one of the farm owners died and the farm is in foreclosure.  They have to find a new home  ASAP.  They are located in Moore Co. N. C.

Gracie was found as a very young puppy in the Winston-Salem area. The person who found her didn't want to keep her, so I took her hoping to eventually find her a happy home.  She is loving, sweet, energetic, and smart.  She would do well with a family or younger adult who has plenty of time (and energy) for her and a nice yard where she can run and sniff.  She's house trained and crate trained. She loves to play with other dogs, but she's never been around cats.  She has never chewed my furniture, but is a master-level dog toy destroyer!  She's spayed, has all her shots, and is on heart worm, flea and tick prevention.  She's about 40 lbs.

If we didn't already have too many dogs to manage, Pipsqueak would honestly be our forever dog. Pipsqueak is an adorable, little Cairn Terrier (the same kind of dog as Toto in The Wizard of Oz), approximately 24 months old and 12 pounds. He is a cutie-pie; he runs and plays with such joy, but he also likes being held and carried around like an infant. He recently walked onto our yard, but he had no identification or microchip.  According to our veterinarian, Pipsqueak is in good health. He is now up-to-date on all of his shots, micro-chipped, and neutered. Although he has only lived with us for a short time, he is extremely social  with both people and dogs, and he would make a wonderful family pet. He is already crate-trained and would do extremely well in a small, fenced yard.

Harper: Adorable 10 month old, 65 pound Lab mix. She and her sister, Josie, were found at a state park in GA, and assumed to be lost or abandoned.  The very nice lady who found them was unable to keep them and so they came to live with me in Winston Salem, NC!  Initially Harper was not very trusting of people and would roll over and show her belly anytime she thought she was in trouble.  She has learned that not everyone is a bad person, and actually now loves rubs and attention from everyone!  We are working on basic commands, but she is very stubborn as well as smart.  She is treat motivated and will cooperate when she knows there is a treat involved.  She is a total foodie and loves to eat.  She loves to walk and explore, and to bark at every dog she sees.  She is very social, and loves to play with other dogs.  She lives with 2 cats and her foster brother and sister.  She gets along well with all, and loves to sniff and lick the cats.  Josie is her best friend and I am hoping they can go to their forever home together, although I am willing to consider adoption to separate homes.  Harper would do best with an active family, that has a large fenced yard.  She is a typical lab and loves to dig when you aren't watching, and can dig under a fence, so she needs supervision outside.  

Josie:  Beautiful and quirky 10 month old, 65 pound Lab mix.  Josie was found with her sister in GA.  She is super sweet and has a lot of energy.  She loves people and whines when she wants attention.  She loves rubs and to cuddle.  She has no idea how big she is, so she would probably do best with older children that won't be knocked down when she gets excited.  She is very well socialized and loves other animals, the cats in her foster house are very curious to her and she follows them around when she sees them.  She definitely has a dominant personality, so would do best with other dogs that are receptive to that.  Josie does have a medical issue; the vet thinks she was most likely hit by a car when she was living on her own with her sister in GA.  Her right hip is dislocated and the top of her femur is broken in several places.  You would never know it to watch her run around, but she will need surgery once she's finished growing to prevent a lot of pain in her future.  She loves to go on walks and explore the neighborhood! Josie absolutely adores her sister, and would like to be adopted with Harper to a loving home. 

Cary
Large, young, energetic, playful, friendly, confident male dog. Adoption records state he is a Rottweiler mix. Very, very smart and easy to train with food. Knows basic commands like "sit," "look," "let's go," "leave it," "down," and "come" and is quick to learn new commands. Can get along with other dogs. Loves car rides, playing in water, chewing sticks, and playing tug with toys. Walks well on a head collar or EZ Walk harness but sometimes lapses into bouts of exuberant play by playing tug with the leash. Cary will need a strong leader to help him channel his enthusiasm appropriately.

Baxter
Friendly, affectionate, mellow, confident 4 yr old male Boxer. Very easy to walk on leash, rides calmly and quietly in car. Trains easily with food and knows basic commands like "sit," "look," and "let's go." Loves to play. Can get along with other dogs. Baxter has growled at people who have grabbed his back end suddenly. Baxter needs a home with people that understand and have patience for this guy.

Update Bailey! Relisted!! Bailey is a female 5 year old Boxer-Pointer mix. Bailey's previous owner is unable to care for her because of health problems and the need to move to an apartment. Bailey is very friendly and wants to spend her time with people. She is friendly with other dogs and plays with the boxer in her current foster home. She loves to walk and is improving daily in walking on a leash. Bailey weighs 57 pounds, is spayed and micro chipped, and is heart worm negative. This is Olivia, one of my rescue/rehome projects. She is a collie mix (as best I can tell), about 15 to 18 months old, about 53 pounds, spayed, up to day on all shots, heartworm negative and started on preventative. Olivia is a sweet, sweet girl. Gets along well with other dogs. My two dogs adore her. However, she likes to "chase" and needs a home where there are no small animals like cats or chickens. Olivia is house trained but prefers the outdoors. She is leash trained. She does not bark much at all. Olivia loves human attention but is a bit timid and needs some warm up time. Jester was removed from a home where he was neglected and sneezy. He is now strong and healthy with a shiny plush black coat and white whiskers. Due to his prior illness Jester has not been vaccinated or neutered, but all that important stuff is now possible.  We are looking for a low cost spay/neuter clinic for help with that. Jester is estimated to be six months old and gets along well with our dogs, senior male cat, female kitten, and his little brother Donny.  Jester and Donny are never far apart and would probably love to stay together, but Jester (a bit shy at first) will make friends wherever he goes.

This is Donny.  He was removed from a home where he and his brothers were neglected and sick.  Donny responded immediately to love and attention and is now healthy and inquisitive as a kitten can be! Donny is estimated to be about 6 months old.  Due to his illness he has not had vaccines or been neutered but all that important stuff is now possible. Donny has a short but plush shiny coat with perfect tuxedo markings.  I think he would look even more handsome with a red bow tie!
He gets along well with our dogs, female kitten, and his brother Jester.  He would probably like to stay together with his brother Jester but would make new friends just as well.

"Otis" is a 3-4 year old Jack Russell/Wire Haired Terrier mix. He's about 18 pounds. He has been well cared for, is up to date on his shots and has been neutered. Unfortunately his family is going through a divorce and will be unable to keep him. But his family has enjoyed him for the past 3 years. He's been living in a family with 3 kids whom he adores. He loves to sleep with them but is OK if asked to sleep elsewhere. He is very protective of his family and will let you know if you have a visitor. He will bark for a while but will eventually calm down when properly introduced. He currently lives with a cat in the household whom he tolerates but is not his best friend. He loves to go on car rides and to snuggle on someone's lap while watching TV. He is an inside dog but would love to have a well fenced in yard to play in.

I rescued these little guys and gal and will be fostering until we can find them a new home.  We started with 6 and are down to 4.  They were born 12/29 and are said to be Chihuahua mix.  Lacy, the white one has already been adopted. The other 4 boys are ready to find their new forever homes!  They have been wormed and give their first parvo vaccine.  They all weight in at ~4 lbs.

All are very active and love to play.  Working on crate training now and they are doing very well.  Finally sleeping thought the night.

If we didn’t already have too many dogs to manage, Sparky would honestly be our forever dog. Sparky is a beautiful, energetic Feist Dog, approximately 12 months old and 25 pounds. He recently walked onto our yard, but he had no identification or microchip.  According to our veterinarian, Sparky is in excellent health. He is now up-to-date on all of his shots, micro-chipped, and neutered. Although he has only lived with us for a short time, he is extremely social  with both people and dogs, and he would make a wonderful family pet. He is already crate-trained and house-trained. I will provide a year’s supply of heartworm and flea/tick preventative medication, along with a 50-pound bag of his favorite food; and I have the ability to re-foster him if for some reason he is not a good fit for your home.

Newton is up to date on all shots, neutered, not declawed. No health problems. We rescued him 10 years ago and since having 2 kids in the last 3 years, he has become depressed. He is a very gentle but scared/skiddish cat. He really likes the quiet and just laying in a sun spot during the day or curling up on your lap at night. He would make a wonderful lap cat and needs just a quiet home to live in. I'm willing to provide a few months of food to the person who wants a companion cat.

Oliver is a very sweet Pit mix  that goes by "Ollie." He is approx. 50lbs. We found him by the roadside January of last year as a puppy and found the owner who said for us to take him as he couldn't care for him anymore. He is a big ol'  lap dog who thinks he is the size of a Chihuahua. He is a snuggle bunny to the core! He is house trained as well as crate trained and knows how to sit and lay down.  He loves kitties and plays well with small dogs, and will even let our cats play with his tail.

Mushi (Moo-shee) is a Chow mix. She is approx. 45 lbs. We found her as a small puppy on my grandparents farm last spring when it was still freezing and took her in.  She likes to cuddle as well but her favorite place to be is at your feet.  She also loves the small dogs and the kitties.  She will sit and even "say howdy" (shake). She is crate trained and house broken just like her "big brother".  

They are both fixed and UTD on all vaccinations. They have spent most of their lives together, they sleep, eat, and play together and are pretty much inseparable. This is why we would love for them to go to a home together. We don't have a fenced in yard, and that has proven to be a problem considering we live near a busy road. We just want them to be in a safe and loving forever home that can give them all the love and attention they deserve.

(Ollie does have and wears a collar, I just forgot to put it back on him for the impromptu photo session. He'd just had a bath and I took it off).

Jacob Roberts (responds to JR or Jake) is a Plott Hound I found when hiking in southwest Virginia in October. My guess is that he is 1.5-2 years old. I always get compliments about how beautiful he is—he is a 75 lbs dog, but he is tall and lean and has a red/brown brindle coat. He is a VERY loving dog—very sweet and affectionate towards people and even welcoming to strangers. He generally gets along great with other dogs, but hates cats.

I love him to death, but he recently learned how to climb my 5 foot fence. He requires plenty of exercise and a nice yard to play in during the day, so he can’t handle being cooped up inside all day. When he learned to climb the fence and I started keeping him inside for large portions of the day, his energy levels went through the roof, and he started trying to escape at any given chance. One of the times he escaped, he killed a neighbor’s cat. That is why I have to find him a new home, with a yard and a taller fence. 

JR loves to play in the yard or in the house, he loves hiking, and he is used to getting a run or walk every day—but he also needs a nice yard to run in (with a tall fence!). He is house-trained, and he usually sleeps inside, but he doesn't do well when he is forced to stay inside for most of the day. He is trained to sit, stay, and lie down, and he is an overall easy-to-train and sweet dog. He is neutered and up-to-date on all his shots.

Blitz: Red with White markings (with green eyes). 6 months. Neutered, UTD on shots. Blitz is very playful and fun loving! He is learning quickly to walk on a leash and sit. He enjoys playing with his toys, and running around the yard with the other dogs! He is enjoying learning obedience and is very confident. He will be great for an active family who really wants a member of the family to always come along on adventures! He loves riding in cars and of course cuddling with his people!  He is going to be one handsome boy when he is fully grown!

Scarlette: Red with white markings (with green eyes). 6 months. Spayed. UTD on shots. Scarlette is a wonderful southern belle... with a saucy side! Make no mistake this sweet little lady loves her cuddle time, but can play with the best of them! She is very smart, loving, and quick to give kisses (to whoever is closest). She is learning to walk on a leash and to sit. She enjoys playing with her toys, sleeping in the sunshine, and playing in the yard! She will need a family to help her be more confident, she is a little shy at first. She will be great for a family that truly wants another family member.  When she is fully grown she will be a show stopper!

"Riley" has been to the vet and will be neutered before going to a new home. The vet thinks that it is a 9 month old pit mix. He is very energetic and friendly.

Hunter is a Weimaraner.  Hunter is 88lbs. He is 5 years old as of December 1st, 2012. I am no longer able to care for Hunter due to my anxiety/panic disorder I have had for over a year now. Hunter needs plenty of exercise and a fenced in yard to run. I am not able to exercise him the way he needs and he has become hyper due to it. Hunter is up to date on all of his shots and vaccines. Hunter is neutered. He is on heart worm preventative. Hunter sleeps in an open kennel inside at night, but would rather sleep with his owner. He does well in his kennel during the day if we leave the house. He isn’t a chewer or destroyer. His ideal situation would be someone who could spend a lot of time with him and take him on walks or runs. Our current family is my husband and a 10 year old daughter. He gets along with us very well and is very attached to me. He likes to be with the family. He is a protective and territorial dog which is standard to the breed. Hunter could use some light training but he will sit, stay, and lay down. I always make him wait for his food until after I put it down. I ask him to sit, stay and then I tell him OK to eat.  He is not aggressive but I always use caution when someone new comes to the house. I let the person enter first and then let him out of his kennel to meet them. He comes across at first as weary but warms up very quickly. I always ask people to let him warm up to them before petting. Hunter will piddle when he is excited so I always make sure to let him out several times a day so he can relieve himself. I feel with exercise, that will correct itself. He does bark quite a lot when he hears someone at the door or if he hears someone outside. He has always done well around other dogs, but I don’t think cats are a good idea because he likes to chase squirrels, rabbits and small dogs but the small dogs always chase him away and he is quite the ninny. He isn’t food aggressive, I have always petted on him when he eats to make sure he doesn’t, but sometimes he growls at another dog if he has a toy or treat to let them know it is his. I have tried to contact several weimaraner rescues but no one has room for him. He is a good dog and is very loving. He needs a good home where he can run like he was meant to.

Geronimo (also goes by Jerry and GG) is the sweetest little guy who will be turning four in March. He loves to snuggle and never hesitates to give kisses. He loves to play ball and run around, swim in and explore creeks, and he knows basic commands (sit, down, stay, crate, and place). He'll sit and wait for his release command (that'll do) before he starts to eat his dinner, and he will sit in his crate when given the command and wait until guests come in the house. This helped put an end to his jumping on people when he comes out to greet them. He is completely house trained and never has accidents. On walks, he does extremely well with heal, but can lunge at other dogs and animals when walking at times. As a puppy, he was attacked by another dog and was close to dying; ever since then, he's had a fear-based aggression toward other dogs. According to his trainer, he will be able to get through these issues with proper training (I will be happy to help with the cost), but I do not have the time to work with him. He also has been trained to run beside the bike with a special bike attachment called a walky dog; he loves running as fast as his little paws will allow. I've had him since he was a puppy, and he's had a very stable and loving home all of his life. I do not want to give him up, but life changes do not allow for me to spend enough time with him, and he needs a home that will be able to do more with and for him.  He's been an inside dog all of his life, and he enjoys using his doggie door. When adopted, he will come with the doggie door, tons of dog accessories and toys, food and water bowl, crate, cool-a-roo, and leashes. I'm looking for an owner with a schedule that allows for quality time with Geronimo, and I'd prefer a fenced in backyard.

Franklin and Sam are male and female, respectively, pit bull mix puppies.  The other breed is unknown.  We are currently fostering them in our home, but with three small children and a work-from-home situation, it is more than we can currently handle.  They are about 8 weeks old and have their first round of shots.  We are working on crate training and house breaking, but it's slow going since they are so young.  They are both playful and friendly and healthy!

Diamond Rio is a 15.2 hand 6 year old bay QH/TB gelding with excellent ground manners for anything (grooming, farrier, vet, bathing, clipping, and loading).  He is current on shots, teeth, and Coggins.  Rio is green under saddle and has been trained with Natural Horsemanship methods two years ago. He is a extremely easy keeper, a dominant herd horse, has a
natural instinct to herd, friendly with dogs, fowl, cats and goats, and absolutely bonded to people.  

Celee is a female blue tick pointer mix. I'm guessing she is around 8-9 months old. She was rescued on a desolate dirt road that I just so happened to drive down two nights in a row after looking for houses in the area. She was waiting both nights in the same spot waiting for her owner to return. I've had Celee spayed and her vaccines are up to date. She's very smart, loves attention and to go for walks. Gets along well with dogs and horses. She is a fun loving dog who plays fetch, loves to run, play and would make a great family pet.

Two adorable cats looking for a home! Monkey and Tortuga are neutered/spayed and are strictly indoor cats. They are affectionate and sweet  and love to cuddle. They are both turning 4 this year and have settled in to a life of lazy snuggles and the occasional laser chase. These cats have been companions to my daughter since she graduated college, but her new apartment doesn’t allow pets and she is heartbroken trying to find a good home for them. Taking them to the shelter is no option, because 4 year old cats can’t compete with kittens. These babies are litter box trained with no accidents! Tortuga is a nervous traveler, so it might be best to keep her at home .  My daughter wants to include her “Booda Dome” Litter box and a cat tree that the cats enjoy for free. These cats would love a home where they can lounge and be loved for the rest of their feline years. She would prefer that the cats remain together, but would be willing to separate them, if necessary.  

Samantha is a beautiful, longhaired, female cat around 10 years old.  She was one of several abandoned cats who Krystal took under wing.  She placed most of them, but Samantha remained.  Unfortunately, one of Krystal’s female cats is hostile toward Samantha, which is very stressful for this gentle little lady.  As a result, she spends most of her time outdoors with a special nest in the garage, coming inside the house only during harsh weather (heat or cold).

Krystal would really like to find a loving indoor home for Samantha, either as an only cat or with a gentle, laid-back male cat.  She does do well with other friendly and non-aggressive cats, but seems to prefer the company of men, both human and feline.  Samantha has also proven to be good with older children. While a little timid at first, Samantha’s sweet and affectionate personality emerges as she gets to know you.  She has a playful side, too. Samantha is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations.

I currently have 5 foster puppies that are in need of their furever homes. They are dachshund mixes (probably dachshund beagle) and the were born August 15, 2012. Their mom was pulled from Caswell County Animal Shelter and shortly after pulling her we found out she was pregnant. These puppies are probably the best puppies we have ever fostered and will make any family a great home. They will be required to be indoor only dogs and a vet check, personal reference, and home visit are mandatory. The black and tan female is Trinity, The solid brown male is Neo, The brown and white male is Morphius, The tri-colored male with the half white face is Dozer, and the tri-colored male with both sides black face is Tank. They get along well with other dogs, cats and are crate trained and almost potty trained. They have received all of their puppy shots and rabies and will be spayed/neutered before going to their new homes.

Tazz is a 7-year-old dachshund mix needing a new home. He was rescued from the animal shelter in July 2011, but due to life changes, his current owners can no longer care for him. He is good with children and with other animals (cats, other dogs, etc.). He sits with you on the couch, follows you around the house, and wants to be with you all the time. He would be good for someone who is looking for a constant friend. He barks at strangers but is friendly with them. He is house-trained. He enjoys walks outside, but he prefers to be inside the house. He is healthy, up-to-date on his shots, and is heart-worm negative

Bailey is a female 5 year old Boxer-Pointer mix. Bailey's previous owner is unable to care for her because of health problems and the need to move to an apartment. Bailey is very friendly and wants to spend her time with people. She is friendly with other dogs and plays with the boxer in her current foster home. She loves to walk and is improving daily in walking ona leash. Bailey weighs 57 pounds, is spayed and micro chipped, and is heartworm negative. Bailey is accustomed to living in the house with exercise time [she loves to run]  in a fenced yard. She is crate trained and seems to enjoy time in her crate. Bailey would love to have a forever home where she could give and receive the affection that she loves to share. Bailey has lived with cats and children. She would probably do best in a family with older children or adults who have some time to spend with her. She will be a wonderful pet in a home where she receives love and attention.

"Scherzer" is a young adult medium sized husky mix ( about 40lbs), complete with one brown eye and one blue eye! She is crate trained and house broken, she needs a little work on walking on a leash but she is a quick learner! She loves to play with rope toys, go on runs, and just cuddle. We would like to see her go to a house that will allow her to be an inside and outside dog. A townhouse without a yard is not the place for her, otherwise we would keep her. She does fine with children and dogs, we don't know about cats though. She is such a sweet girl and we don't want her to go to the shelter, please give her a new home!

Buddy was rescued from the UNCG campus. In the three weeks we've had him he's gone from scared of everything to a kitten who loves to be around people. Either playing with his toys or cuddling on our lap and nuzzling on your shoulder. He has been tested and cleared for HIV and Leukemia, had all his shots, been wormed and neutered. He has not been microchipped.

We are housing him in our heated greenhouse, because even though he seems ok with other cats, our diva Opal won't let him in the house.

He's a playful, gentle, healthy 7-8 months old kitten who needs a good home and will make a loving companion. There is no adoption fee, but a long term loving home is a must.

This is Cash, he is a Pit Bull around 6 years old and neutered. Cash came to live with me after his father died a few months ago. He is shy at first but once out of his shell is quite the character! He lives with 4 other dogs (all sizes, including another Pit Bull) and a 9 month old little boy, he gets along beautifully with everyone! I would love to keep him but just don't have the time or room for him right now. He will come with an up to date rabies shot, kennel, food bowl, and a small supply of food. I bought Sam and Alex thinking I would have time to socialize and play with them. School then rolled around and all they do now is sit in their cage with almost no socialization. This is not fair to them. They want to be friendly and I think they would become very friendly with a little socializing. Especially Alex, whenever I open the cage for anything she comes to the door and climbs around and allows me to pet her. Neither like to be picked up but on the other hand they have never tried to bite me or do anything but try to get back into their cage. They are sisters that I bought from Pet smart. They deserve to go to a good home that will take care of them and play with them, do all the stuff that I simply don't have time for anymore.

The absolute most precious and sweetest cat ever!  He is completely an indoor cat and loves to be around people. He is relaxed, laid back and on occasion will “run laps” for his exercise. Gives hugs and kisses J

His litter box is an enclosed igloo type with disposable litter bags for easy, simple clean up and he has a scratching post for play-time, which he also uses for lounging (see pic).

If you choose to take Mr. Kitty Cat and for some reason it does not work out, PLEASE return him back to us and do not take him to a shelter or any other method of removing him from your home. It is critical to me that he remains in a loving, caring home.

Male Rottweiler (not neutered) between 2 and 3 years old. Approx 95 lbs. Black with dark tan feet and face.  Not "drooly" or "slobbery" but is a messy drinker. Sociable, healthy, and plays well with other dogs. Listens to "stay" and "come here" commands fairly consistently. A little stubborn, but not aggressive. Housebroken but will mark indoor feeding area if another dog is around. He's also an escape artist; can nose-up the gate latch to a fence if it isn't locked with a clamp. Rides pretty well in the car but will try to get out the window if it's rolled down more than a couple inches. All around sweet personality but requires some training and supervision.

Meet Snickers and Twix.  They are 1 year old BIG Kittens.  The boys were born May 8th of last year. I know because we rescued their mother after she was dumped at the boat launch just weeks before she gave birth.   The boys were placed when they were young kittens with an active family of three children, ages from 3 to 11.  Their family situation has recently changed and Snickers and Twix have come back to me to be replaced in their forever home.

They are Gorgeous, Striking, Beautiful neutered males.  Their $30 adoption fee will pay for their rabies shot and annual booster shot.   They are Great with dogs and kids of all ages.  We are temperament testing them with other cats currently. They are both very affectionate – like to be picked up and cuddled.  They are lap-cats yet impressively large (bigger than our standard chihuahua.  They are relatively quiet and do not meow much.  They do not jump on countertops.   Both keep a neat litter box.  They are used to being indoors mostly with occasional ventures outside. While they have been together since birth they can be separated and would be just as content.   What they each want is a special person or family to love them.

Snickers (photo 1) is more outgoing and LOVES people. He seeks out affection. He is a short-haired spotted tabby with green-gold eyes.  He has a unique marking on the top of his head that looks like the 8 from an 8-ball.

Twix (photo 2) is more of a reserved gentleman. He is more cautious and takes his time to check out new environment.  He is a long-haired tabby with green eyes and a "beauty mark" on his nose.  His tail is so bushy and beautiful and he reminds me of a Norwegian Forest Cat.

Ava is a BEAUTIFUL German Shepherd who was abandoned. This very loyal girl waited for weeks at her home that was vacated by her owners leaving her behind. She is probably part border collie, making for her lower stature and her amazing soft coat.  She is thought to be 1 1/2 - 2 years old and she weighs around 70 pounds. Ava is spayed, up to date on her shots and a wonderful indoor dog. She is good with cats, our other small dog, has had great playmates at doggie daycare.  Ava needs a fenced in yard.

Ava would do great in a home where she can get lots of attention. She likes to be aware of her humans and wants to be with them.  She currently lives with us in Clemmons NC.

I have two little orange tabby kittens that were rescued with a stray mother cat someone put out.  They were born 7-17-12.  They have had their first vet worming and flea treatment. My name is Chetchu.  I am a 45-pound sweet, loving, athletic, strong, and cuddly 6 1/2 year old lab/pointer mix rescue.  My daddy adopted me in 2006 when I was about 4 months old and I’ve lived a good life.  I am very healthy, neutered, and up-to-date on all of my vaccinations and heartworm. Unfortunately, my daddy’s fiancée is severely allergic to me, and after two anaphylactic reactions, my daddy has decided to find me a new, loving home.  I know he is heartbroken, but it’s the only option.  My ideal new owners would be active because I love to run, hike, play, and catch the Frisbee. He is about 2 1/2, full west german shepherd with papers. Bought him from a breeder in Greensboro, and have had him since a puppy. He is loud, very strong and pulls on a leash, but sweet natured with people, can bark a lot, great early warning/guard dog, but looks far more intimidating than he actually is! Just give him a soccer ball and he is so happy. He knows sit, down, back up, leave it, where's your ball, supper. Slim body, great curved back, no genetic hip problems as far as we know. Likes to be outside. He takes some time to get used to other dogs, likes to be the dominant male, great with families though and smaller children (I have a 7 year old and he has always been wonderful with her). He has always been great with the other family dogs. Never been around cats. Rabies shot up to date. Micro-chipped. He was never neutered. Also goes by "Z" or "Zep".

"Vincent" was rescued from a kill shelter and I have fostered him while he has undergone treatment for heartworms.   He is now heartworm negative and on prevention,  neutered, updated on all his vaccines, microchipped, and has been treated for a yeast infection (which is why there is hair missing from his tummy).   Vincent is now a healthy 2-3 year old and ready to romp and run like all young retrievers.  He is crate trained and needs a forever family to call his own. He will need to be a beloved indoor pet so that he is a part of the family but also needs a safely fenced yard for playtime.

The father is a 60 pound Pit Bull and the mother is a 35 pound Sheltie mix. We transported both dogs to the clinic yesterday to be 'fixed' and they both are as gentle as could be. They both rode in the bed of the truck in a crate and loved the ride. I would assume the puppies have the same temperament.  The puppies are 14 weeks old.

Project BARK insists that the dog be fixed before the new owner can take possession. We will pay for the spay or neuter. There are 4 females and 2 males available.

Peaches is a 3 year old terrier mixed. He is neutered and current on his rabies vaccination. Peaches needs an owner that is willing to walk or run with him for exercise.  Peaches loves to go on long runs and is a great running mate.  He is also very protective and will bark if he senses you are uncomfortable or feel threatened. Peaches is an excellent guard dog in his 30 lb. frame. Peaches will alert you by his bark if he senses, smells, or hears something out of the norm.  He loves to be outside, but at night will sleep at the base of your bed. Peaches gets along very well with other dogs and cats. Peaches is a very loving and sweet dog.

"Noel" is a very sweet tempered, active, fun loving, yellow Lab/boxer mix. She is a 45 lb.,18 month old and house trained but would do best with a fenced in yard. She is spayed, micro-chipped, up to date on vaccines and heartworm preventative. She does stay inside at night and is crate trained. She does well with other people, dogs, cats and children. She will come with her crate, toys and flea meds. She is being re homed due to a move. She is in the Guilford and Randolph county area.

Cyclone is an adorable beagle mix dog born July 2010.  He's housebroken, crate trained, and leash trained.  He's used to living with cats and other dogs.  He's playful, cute, and overweight...he needs a home with a fenced yard where he can exercise. His owner died unexpectedly and now Cyclone needs a new home. He's neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his rabies vaccine,  He does need a distemper booster.

Spencer is a 2-year-old bluetick coonhound/pointer mix. He is intelligent and funny, with a classic bluetick bay. He would be great in a home with some land or a fenced-in yard where he can run. He loves to play, run for sticks, chase, etc. He is not so great with kids because his energy is so high, so he sometimes doesn't know when to stop playing and can be too rough with small kids. He has a dominant personality and needs a strong pack leader as an owner; if he knows his place and is getting plenty of exercise, he is very well behaved. He is a wary of strangers, but once he knows someone, he is generally good with that person. He has a very strong prey drive and is not good with cats. He does well with most other dogs but has had fights over food and toys. Spencer is neutered and current with all vaccinations. He's never had any health problems other than being treated for worms when we took him in. He comes with all vet paperwork from the past two years. He also comes with heartworm and tick/flea preventative, and there is no adoption fee. We just want to find him the right home with a loving owner.

He turned 2 years old in May. My daughter brought him home as a baby (2 weeks old).she has grown tired of him now that the baby part is wore off. He came from a pet store in Asheboro. I try to take care of him but really cannot see myself keeping him for the next 12 to 15 years. We live inside the city limits and i am afraid it will only be a matter of time before we get caught with him. When he was younger we kept him in the house so he is litter box trained, he now stays outside. He has a swimming pool which he loves to splash in. He is a cookie man and enjoys it when you feed him cookies. He is also good around other animals. We have a cat and dogs and they get along fine. He is a people pig, he likes for you to talk to him and responds to his name and will come for a cookie. But he is a boy and at times will try and get aggressive, but a thump on his nose usually stops this (an easy one, not a painful one). He also responds to a harsh NO.I would like for him to go to a home where he can play with other animals and run and stretch his legs. He has been neutered. His hooves may need trimmed but i will pay for this if you can get it done. My main concern is that he finds a wonderful permanent place to call home.

Miss Sally is a petite, young-adult cat with the softest gray coat.  Sally was found living outside of a college dorm.  Sally has been very comfortable in the house and has not asked to return outside.  This makes me believe that she had a previous owner.  She is the most affectionate cat!  Sally climbs on any available lap and will nuzzle chins with you.  Sally is a quiet kitty and rarely meows but purrs often! Sally is looking for a forever home.  She would probably do best in a home without dogs and small children, as they make her nervous.   Sally’s foster home has both a toddler and a dog, which is not her ideal environment; although I think with time and love she could adjust to both.  Sally is friendly and playful.  I estimate her age to be about a year old.  Please consider adding this sweet girl to your family.

Sam is an all white male cat with a black/tabby tail.  He is 13 pounds and was born November 10th 2006.  He has had all of his shot and rabies vaccinations on 4/3/12.  I have the paperwork showing all of his past and recent vaccinations.

Sam is an incredibly docile cat. He has his claws but is not a climber or scratcher of furniture. He does not like heights at all. Sam likes a quiet environment.  He prefers to sleep under beds or in closets except for at night when he like to sleep in the bed with or on top of a warm body.  Sam does not bite, scratch or claw at all and he is not a particlularily playful cat, except for when there is a nice long ball of yarn around! He loves yarn!  Sam does not growl or hiss at other cats at all. He is very non confrontational.  Sam crates well and the vet has never had a problem giving him any treatment.

Sam needs a home because of my other cat. They have lived together since 2006  but she has never fully adjusted to him and is constantly attacking him.  He is starting to become scared to eat his food or drink water with her around and it is not fair to such a sweet cat. I am afraid this will become detrimental to his health.

He needs someone who is looking for a lap cat to pet and love. He loves if you stand over him and rub him with your feet! Someone will need to know to give him time to adjust. He is a little timid due to my female cat pouncing on him all the time, but once he does he is so sweet. Sam will follow someone around all day. I know times are tough for all cats but please let me know if you have a foster or if he could be put up for referral.  He will make a great pet!

Born in April 2012, these adorable kittens were rescued from an
irresponsible owner.  They were sick and neglected, but you would never
know it now!  They love being around people of all ages and are very
affectionate.  The photos were taken at their very first adoption fair,
where they did great and proved to everyone that they are happy, healthy
and playful.

Mo, the only boy in this little group, and his sister Meenie are cute
bobtails.  Mo is the handsome cream tabby & white.  Meenie is the beautiful dark tortoiseshell and Minie is the pretty calico with a full tail.
They have had all their vaccinations (including rabies) and have been
spayed/neutered.

We rescued these kittens a few weeks ago when they were abandoned by their feral mother on the Salem College campus. They are in good health and are up-to-date on vaccines, and we will be getting them neutered in the next 2-3 weeks. Madison and Hamilton (the black tortie and grey/blue tortie, respectively) are female and John Jay (the gray tabby) is male. They are friendly and enjoy playing and chin scratches - Hamilton is the most playful of the bunch, Madison is a goofball, and John Jay loves to curl up on a lap. They can be adopted individually, as a pair, or as a trio. We will not charge an adoption fee, but we will adopt them out only to someone who plans to keep them indoors only.

While it breaks my heart to write this, I need to find a new home for my mare.  She has ours for the past 5-6 years but the barn where we keep her is kicking her out (they want an animal free barn now) and I can’t afford to keep her in another place…. She is a wonderful and sweet girl.  Somewhere between 20-23 years old.  Her vaccinations are current, her feet are kept trimmed (no shoes because we only trail ride casually).  She is part Tennessee Walker, part Quarter horse, black.  She is WONDERFUL with children and my two daughters (one with significant special needs) have ridden her for years.  I just had her checked by the vet and she said that she’s in great shape. She is actually really low maintenance. She lived on a big farm until we got her and was used to being outside.  She doesn’t like to be inside at all and the only time she is stalled is if I HAVE to bring her in to see the vet or get her feet trimmed. She loves being outside and she LOVES having at least one other friend around. Currently she is friends with the neighbor’s mules.

I found Gracie and her 4 puppies in Winston-Salem approximately 2 months ago.  Gracie was emaciated, full of hook worms, and barely able to nurse the pups.  My vet estimates that Gracie is a1 & 1/2 years old boxer/pitt/amercian bull terrier mix, weighing approximately 35 lbs.  She is great with other dog (our two, the neighbor's german shepherd, and the other neighbor's pitbull), adults, and loves to play with kids.  She is high energy, but also a timid girl who trys to crawl up in my lap.  I have taken her running with me, and she is learning not to pull so hard on the leash.  She would be a great companion for another dog, a great running partner and in that she is smallish, she would even do well in an apartment.  She is a bit cat aggressive and whines or barks when she sees ours.  She will chase them if she obtains access.  She is fully vetted and due to be spade this week. She needs a little more work on crate training, but is just such a sweet, loving girl.  A vet reference and possible home visit are required.

Buster is a sweet and loving Boxer Hound or Beagle Hound mix that I adopted when he was just 8 wks old, over 9 years ago!  He approximately 55lbs and is neutered and up to date on all of his shots with the most recent Bordatella shot given today, 7/12/2012.  Although Buster is 9 years of age he is full of energy when he’s interacting with others and he also loves to take naps and sleep peacefully through the night.  Unfortunately due to a more hectic work schedule that requires some travel, I am unable to give him the time and quality of care that he needs as I have another dog and many expenses.  Buster is great with people of all ages from children to seniors as well as other friendly animals or pets.  He never barks at other people or animals when you take him for walks nor does he bark in the house, he is extremely well behaved but his only flaw is that he loves to tear up his bedding and pillows. Harry is a nine-month old hound mix (he looks very much like a Rhodesian Ridgeback), has lots of energy and is very smart.  He weighs about 52 lbs and we believe will not grow much more.  He is extremely loving and likes nothing more than to be close to you and loves for you to pet him. We have been using a Gentle Leader collar when walking him, and he has done pretty well, he shows no aggression to other dogs. There have been times when he gets stubborn and doesn't want to walk, but if you take the time to stop and talk to him, he will resume his walk.  Harry is almost house trained and is very good about "holding it" until we can get him out. We think it would be wonderful if Harry could end up where he has a yard to run in as he loves being outdoors and we found out by surprise that he loves to swim! He is very inquisitive and alert. Harry has received vet care and is up to date on shots, etc. We know that with some love and the right kind of discipline, Harry will be a fantastic dog for someone.

Sheba  is independent but also very social.  She fetches tennis balls. She is very affectionate. She is good with my other cat and has now gotten used to my dog annoying her. "Doc" is a retired therapy horse who has also done lessons, trails and everything in between. He is totally bomb proof and is a great confidence builder. He is in his late 20s and has some arthritis issues, so would be best used at a walk only.  Doc loves attention and is gentle as they come. Great feet and goes barefoot. Approved and loving home only.

We have a beagle mix named Max (Maximus) we need to find another home for him. The lady I spoke with yesterday told me to e-mail you the information and that you might be able to put him on your website since all your foster homes are full. Max is about 4 years old. He is neutered and crate trained. He's very sweet, loves people, and is good with kids. I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow to have his rabies vaccination updated. We have only had him about six months and we like him very much, but we have two small children, and it's just a little more than I can handle at home all day. Max does not get in the way, but he's not getting any attention either, and I would like to find a nice family that could give him a little more love and attention.

Dixie Lee-3 year old Short Haired Springer Spaniel/Pointer/Pit Bull Mix

Polly is about 2 years old. She is a lionhead lop-eared mix. She loves treats and being petted but is very uncomfortable being picked up. She is absolutely beautiful. She's mostly white with some brown spots. She has long ears and great long hair around her head. She has never nipped at me or my husband. When she's happy, she does fun jumps and skips. She is also litter boxed trained.

Terminator is likely a velveteen rabbit. He is extremely soft and a rusted brown color. He doesn't mind being handled and loves human attention. This is a 5 year old Paso Fino gelding. He is up to date on all of his vaccines. He has been ridden on trails and is a great trail horse that can be ridden alone or with other horses. He crosses water, jumps logs in the woods, been thru confidence clinics, stands for the farrier and loads easily into a trailer. He is healthy and sound. He has a sweet personality and he needs a strong confident rider. It is extremely important that he find someone who will be good to him and give him a great home. I can no longer afford to care for him but he needs a forever home.

This is Domino which I believe is about 6 months old or so. She is a Pit mix with maybe some lab mixture.  Temperament is  very loving, loves other dogs and kids ( people in general) . My friend was on their way to PA in Feb. and while going through a snowstorm in VA; saw this puppy on the side of the highway. She was very skinny / malnourished and very week. Once he got her in the truck she pretty much collapsed in the backseat and gave out this blow of relief – slept the whole way to PA from there.  She really comes off as wanting to fit in and to be wanted. She really is a sweet dog.

Raz was found on 4-13-12 in Winston-Salem along with her brother/mate wondering the street.  She has had Rabies, Distemper, and is now microchipped.  She was spayed on 5-10-12.  She is very sweet, hyper, and likes attention.  She has been fine around by cats and other dogs.  She is ready for a family of her own.  She was most likely a breeder dog based on her appearance. Bandit is fixed and up to date on shots and has his claws. He is a bit skittish but has continued to warm up over the past year and I believe will continue to. Not a lap cat though and likes affection on his terms.  Seems to have an "alley cat" constitution, seems very healthy, very active, eats a lot and drinks a lot of water.  He enjoys my other cat with some wrestling, cuddling, grooming. He might get lonely as an only cat. I don't think he'd like being around a dog because of his skittish tendencies. He probably weighs about 8 lbs. He has been fed premium food all his life and has a nice coat and good muscle tone.

Harley is an ACTIVE happy Spaniel who is housebroken, happy and healthy but needs a lot of room to run as well as a home where he will be loved and cared for.  He would probably do very well in a family with children.  He is current on his shots and heartworm.  Harley does suffer from separation anxiety so he cannot be left alone unsupervised inside a home, but does very well outside in a fenced in yard.  He will come with a crate (and he's used to his crate at night and when no one is home) as well as his toys.  We are moving from a fenced in acre to inside the town limits where we cannot have a dog outside and it's not fair to him to have to be crated up while we are not home.  He is not a hunting dog and will not do well as a hunter, he is a family dog.  Please consider him for a forever home.

Katie is the sister puppy of two sweet dogs found on a friend’s farm abandoned and hungry in Caswell County. Her brother Banks is already adopted and living the good life.  Both dogs had ribs showing and were very timid and afraid of people. It is amazing what a little TLC will do.

We want to find a good home for Katie. She is approximately 4 months old and the vet estimated she will weigh around 40 lbs when fully grown. Katie is very friendly and loves kids and also other dogs. Right now she spends her nights in a kennel in our garage and her days in the back yard with our rescued beagle Georgia.  Katie is adjusting nicely and has yet to have an accident in her kennel. Also she is learning to walk on a leash and loves being around children and other dogs.

We are in the process of getting Katie shots but she has already been treated for ticks/fleas and worms. She still needs a rabies shot and will need to be fixed when she gets a little older.

Our family would like to find Katie a good home with a fenced back yard if possible. There is no fee to adopt her but we reserve the right to do some background checks on the adopting person/family before she leaves our care.

Buddy found us by camping out on our backdoor steps 6 months ago.  He has since been neutered and is up to date on all of his shots.  He is a mixed breed, predominately pit bull. "The Buddy" is approximately 3 years old and weighs 60 lbs.  He is a graduate of Petco Canine Education.  We cannot give Buddy the attention he deserves or keep him.  He needs a large yard to run in. Daphne and Dorcas:    These little girls were thrown away to make it the best way they could. I found them wondering across our church parking lot on Sunday morning. They're very sweet little girls!!! They get along with other dogs and cats. They like everybody they meet. They're approximately12 weeks old. So far they have got their second round of shots. They are on flea and heartworm medication.

This is Marshal. He is a stray I found wandering around in traffic. The vets believe is a year old lab mix. He is only 45 pounds. He is extremely sweet and loves everyone. His favorite thing is having his chest scratched. He is very eager to please but does chase cats. I am unable to keep him myself but I know he will make someone a wonderful pet.

His name is Sampson.  He was rescued from the Animal Shelter in Winston Salem where he would walk around with a tennis ball in his mouth wanting someone to play with him.  Very nice dog, house broken, loves to ride in a car, very rarely barks, gets along with other dogs and children.  His downfall is his tail; he is loves to wag his tail and would not be able to stay in a crate for long periods of time. Flower is a gorgeous welsh pony just looking for her forever home! She is 13 years old and stands at 12.2hh. She is a very pretty flea bitten grey color but looks white most of the time. She was ignored for many years until we rescued her and another pony and we are now just letting her gain some weight and earn some needed TLC. If someone took the right time with her, she could be a lovely lead line pony for kids under 100lbs or just a pasture pet but a loving, approved home only!

He’s 7.5 years old and one of the best dogs I’ve ever had. If I wasn’t moving to a place that has cats, I would keep him. He likes to run, but his favorite activity is sleeping on the couch. He does not like cats at all and does better in places with only female dogs. He is neutered, but still likes to be the head honcho and is an inside only dog. He’s also crate trained and house trained. He does the typical Great Dane “talking” and you can really get him going with that. He does good around all people, I’ve never had an issue with kids or adults and him.

Cassie is a 9 years young border collie jack Russell cross and yes you can teach an old dog new tricks.  She is a very smart girl.  She is past those hyper years and will lie on my bed after being in her crate all day long. She loves to follow her person around the house, sun bathe, and sleep on my bed or sofa. Her family that raised her didn't want her anymore and were going to take her to the pound so I took her in, in Nov 2011. I have tried every rescue I can think of and then some, and nobody has room for her.  She has been kicked for no reason and hit when she peed inside.  If she is around small children they will need to be kind to her or she will snap at them, but she has never bitten anybody. When I am home she will go to the door and ask to be let out. I think her potty issues will get better if she gets more attention. I do not have time for this wonderful girl and have to keep her in a crate way too much. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm neg, and on heartworm and flea prevention. She should not be around aggressive small dogs, but she is good with inside cats.   She will love you if you are kind to her.  Please give this sweet girl the loving home she deserves or she will end up at the pound.
