Patti |
BREED: Pot Bellied Pig
AGE: 3 years old |
"Patti" is a BIG potbellied pig who was surrendered when her owner could no longer afford her. She lived inside for the first year of her life and has been an outdoor pig for the last two years. Patti is very tame and social and enjoys treats and having her ears scratched. She weighs about 200 pounds and needs a safe, enclosed area where she can exercise as well as shelter in the form of a stall or run-in shed where she can stay out of the rain and wind. Pet pigs often live to be 12 to 15 years old, so Patti needs someone willing to make a long term commitment to her care. Patti's adoption fee is $100. |

Chestnut & Mischief |
BREED: Angora/Pygmy Cross and Pygmy Goat
AGE: 9 years & 4 Years old |
These girls came to us together and are very bonded, so we'd like to keep them together. They have been vaccinated and are now adoptable. They are a bit timid but will come up for treats.
Their joint adoption fee is $100.

Clover & Basil |
BREED: Boer/Nubian
AGE: Young Adult |
Basil and Clover are mother and son. They came to us from a case of neglect in eastern NC in which the Humane Society of the United States asked for our help with the farm animals involved. They were adopted from us last year but their adoptive owners had to sell their farm, so they brought them back to us so that we could find another great home. They are gorgeous, healthy, friendly goats who will follow you around for attention. Their adoption fee is $150 and they must stay together. Basil has been castrated and both have been vaccinated.

Leif Ericson |
BREED: Pygmy Goat
AGE: |
"Leif Ericson" came to us this morning from the Guilford County animal shelter. He had been seized in a cruelty investigation and had been living in a dog crate before animal control officers found him. He is a precious young goat with gorgeous blue eyes who is understandably terrified right now, but he has settled in to his warm stall. Leif has now been castrated. Leif and Daisy have become the very best of friends through the fence separating their two paddocks and even sleep side by side. We will let them share a paddock as soon as Leif has healed from surgery and is allowed to play. We would really like to see them adopted together.
Their joint adoption fee will be $250 to help cover a portion of their medical bills. Because we had to surgically castrate Leif under general anesthesia (and had to vaccinate and deworm both of them), their vet care was very expensive.
Daisy |
BREED: Pygmy Goat
AGE: 4 years old |
"Daisy" is a gorgeous pygmy goat who came to us as an ownder surrender. Her owner bought two goats but did not read about goat care, so he did not know that goats need to be dewormed on a regular basis. When Daisy's companion died of anemia as a result of not being dewormed, he asked us to take Daisy because he felt terrible and wanted her to be somewhere where she would receive proper veterinary care. Daisy has now been dewormed and vaccinated and is ready to be adopted.
She is a sweet, timid girl who is a bit wary of humans but is slowly warming up to us. She would love the company of other friendly goats.
Daisy and Leif are now best friends! Their joint adoption fee will be $250 to help cover a portion of their medical bills. Because we had to surgically castrate Leif under general anesthesia (and had to vaccinate and deworm both of them), their vet care was very expensive.

Kevin Bacon |
BREED: Landrace/ Pot-Bellied Pig Cross
AGE: Baby |
This adorable little guy was found by a good Samaritan as a piglet (he must have fallen off the truck!) and nursed back to health. He is very social and will make a great pet in a farm environment.
Update: Our Veterinarian thinks that Kevin Bacon is actually a pot-bellied pig crossed with a farm pig, so he will probably only be 150 pounds or so. He has one blue eye, which apparently is a Pot-Bellied Pig trait and not a farm pig trait. Pigs are very smart and can be taught to do all sorts of tricks!
Kevin's adoption fee is $75.
Oreo |
BREED: Pygmy Goat
AGE: Young Adult |
"Oreo" is a super social and sweet young adult pygmy goat who came to us after three good Samaritans rescued him from a horrible situation. He is very friendly and talkative and loves to be scratched between his horns. Oreo came to us with a bit of a cold so he will be treated for that and will be surgically castrated as soon as our veterinarians clear him for surgery. Surgical castration under general anesthesia is the only humane way to castrate an adult goat but is very expensive, so Oreo's adoption fee will be $150 to cover a portion of his vet bill. |
Sundrop |
BREED: Nigerian Dwarf |
Sundrop was adopted from us last year along with Clover & Basil (above) but their adoptive owners had to sell their farm, so they brought them back to us so that we could find another great home.
Sundrop is being adopted by the family who recently adopted Poptart. We think she will be happier with some other small goats as Basil and Clover never really accepted her. |
Otis & Agnes |
BREED: Pot Bellied Pigs
AGE: 2 Years Old |
"Otis and Agnes" came to us as owner surrenders. They are brother and sister and are still adoptable. Myrtle (below) has been adopted.
They are VERY clean animals and will not use the bathroom in their stall. They have made a small pile in the back corner of their outdoor paddock and they use it as their restroom. Pigs are exceptionally smart and can be taught to do all kinds of tricks. These three love to go for walks around the farm to eat acorns and will follow us back to their stall for food. A great environment for them would be a stall or shelter of some kind that opens up to a field where they can play, get exercise and have grass to munch on. They also LOVE to wallow in their swimming hole when it is hot out.
Each has received a rabies vaccine, and Otis has been castrated.
Their adoption fee is $75 each.
For information regarding the care required for a potbellied pig, click here. We feed Mazuri Mini Pig Feed, which is available at the Summerfield Feed Mill.
We let the pigs out of their paddock in the evenings to walk around their foster farm. They love to eat acorns! They will come right back in to their stall when called.

Poptart |
BREED:Pygmy Goat
AGE: 4 Months |
"Poptart" is a super cute youngster looking for a herd of goats to call his own. He is currently with other pygmy goats in his foster home and is doing very well. He has already been vaccinated and castrated, so he is ready to be adopted.
Poptart's adoption fee is $100. |

Lily, Socks, Buttercup, Pansy, and PJ |
BREED: Nubian
AGE: 3 Months to 4 Years |
Lily, Socks, Buttercup, Pansy, and PJ (Pansy Jr.) came to Red Dog Farm when their owners had to move back to Greensboro to be closer to work. Their foster mom is completely in love with them! They are the sweetest and most friendly herd of goats she has seen to date. These guys are healthy and up to date on their vaccines. Socks and PJ were castrated by our veterinarian. Because they are so attached to each other we would love for someone to be able to adopt the whole herd. If we do have to split the herd, Pansy and PJ could go together and Lily, Socks and Buttercup could go together.
We have the male goats who come to us surgically castrated under general anesthesia. This method is expensive but is the most humane method of castration.
To help offset a portion of our vet costs, adoption fees will be $350 for either (a) Lily, Socks and Buttercup or (b) Pansy and PJ, or $500 for all five.

Norman |
BREED: Charolais / Longhorn Cross Steer
AGE: 4 Months |
Norman is a shy but sweet little guy looking for a home where he can be a family pet. Ideally we'd like to find a small herd of cattle to take him in, but we want to be assured that he will be a pet and not slaughtered for beef. Norman will now let us scratch his chin and ears and follows us around at meal time. He has been vaccinated by our veterinarian.
Norman's adoption fee is $350. |
Hunni |
BREED: Boer Goat
AGE: 4 Months |
Hunni was the 100th goat to enter our foster network, so we named him "Mr. 100" but we call him "Hunni." He is very tame and has been vaccinated, castrated and dewormed. He is now in a small herd of goats and gets along with everyone he meets. Hunni is a lovebug and will be a great pet. He needs to go to a home where he will have at least one other goat to play with.
We have the male goats who come to us surgically castrated under general anesthesia. This method is expensive but is the most humane method of castration. In order to help offset a portion of the cost of Hunni’s surgery, his adoption fee will be $150. |
Snowy |
BREED: Nubian wether
AGE: 1 Year |
Snowy was adopted so fast we never even got his bio on the website! He went to a great new home with Hunni. |
Bo Peep |
BREED: Sheep
AGE: Young
SEX: Female
COLOR: Black |
"Bo Peep" is a sweet young sheep who came to us from the Guilford County Animal Shelter. She had a huge wool coat and was very hot so our veterinarian sheared her. She is a bit embarrassed of her short new coat but is much cooler! We will update her bio as we get to know her.
Franklin and Eleanor |
BREED: Nigerian Dwarf Goats
AGE: Young |
"Franklin" (black male) and "Eleanor" (white and tan female) were surrendered to us by Forsyth County animal control after being found as strays. They are very social and enjoy human interaction. Our veterinarian guessed Franklin to be about a year old and Eleanor to be 2 or 3 years old. Franklin has been castrated. Both have been vaccinated and dewormed. These two are very bonded and we'd like to keep them together. Their joint adoption fee is $150.
Franklin and Eleanor will jump a fence if the grass is greener on the other side, so they either need a tall fence or an adoptive home where they can be put in a secure area (like a barn) when their humans are not there to supervise.
Click here to view a quick video of Franklin and Eleanor.

Amelia |
BREED: Pygmy Goat
AGE: Adult
COLOR: Black |
Amelia is a very sweet pygmy goat who was adopted from us a few years ago but came back to us (with Hobo, Bonnie and Clyde) when her adoptive owner experienced health issues. She is a sweet, friendly goat who would do well with other pygmies or any other small goats. She has been examined by our veterinarian, vaccinated and dewormed.
The adoption fees for Bonnie, Clyde and Amelia are $100 each or $250 for all three, which will help offset the cost of their veterinary exam and vaccines. |
Roxy |
BREED: Pygmy Goat
AGE: 6 years old
SEX: Female |
“Roxy” came to us from animal control as a very sick and skinny goat. She has been examined by our veterinarian and is currently on medication for a virus in her mouth and eyes that is making her feel terrible. This poor girl has been through a lot and is now in great hands in her foster home, where her food is being soaked for her to make it easier for her to swallow. We will update her bio as she is nursed back to health.
Update! Roxy is feeling much better and will be available for adoption after May 10th. She is ready to get out of quarantine and back in with a herd. We think Roxy and Amelia will make quite the dynamic duo and both are looking for homes! |
Long Legs McGee |
BREED: Toggenburg or Nubian cross
AGE: TBD
SEX: Male |
“McGee” is a skinny little guy who looks like he is on stilts, hence the name “Long Legs McGee!” He came to us as a stray but must have been handled regularly wherever he came from because he is very sweet and social and not at all afraid of humans. In fact, he loves to be held. He will be examined, vaccinated and castrated by our veterinarian on April 22nd and will then be adoptable. We have the male goats who come to us surgically castrated under general anesthesia. This method is expensive but is the most humane method of castration. In order to help offset a portion of the cost of McGee’s surgery, his adoption fee will be $150. Because he is so young, he has not yet developed any “buck-like” odor or characteristics (and won’t develop them because he will be castrated). Once castrated, a male goat is called a “wether” and makes a fabulous pet! |
Skeeter |
BREED: Pygmy Goat
AGE: 10 Weeks
SEX: Male |
“Skeeter” came to us from animal control and is a precious little guy. He was castrated and vaccinated on April 19th and is ready for a new home. In order to help pay our vet bill for his surgical castration (which is expensive but more humane than other methods), his adoption fee is $150. |
Bernice |
BREED: Pot bellied pig
AGE: 9 months |
Bernice is a super social little girl who was raised as an indoor pig but is learning to be a barn piglet. She will flop over and give you her belly if you rub it and also loves to be scratched behind her ears. Bernice would do well with friendly goats or other small barnyard friends.
Bernice's adoption fee is $95.
For information regarding the care required for a potbellied pig, click here. We feed Mazuri Mini Pig Feed, which is available at the Summerfield Feed Mill. |
Hobo, Bonnie and Clyde |
BREED: Boer Goat (Hobo), Nigerian Dwarfs (Bonnie and Clyde)
AGE: Young adult
Hobo is a HUGE Boer goat wether who came to us along with Amelia, Bonnie and Clyde. He was hand raised, is 3 years old and is very, very sweet and tame. He is absolutely huge and would be a good companion for Angelo (see below). He is friendly with the smaller goats he came with but is definitely the boss when food is involved. He is a big, sweet, lazy goat!
Bonnie and Clyde are 4 year old Nigerian Dwarf goats who have been together their entire life. We will not separate them as they are extremely bonded and are always together. They are a bit timid but are happy to eat treats out of our hands.
They have now been examined by our veterinarian, vaccinated and dewormed.

Pancake |
BREED: Potbellied Pig
AGE: Young
SEX: Female
“Pancake” is a very sweet young potbellied pig who came to us because her first owner was elderly and needed Hospice care. She was an indoor pig when she was younger but is now approximately 75 pounds so she has moved outside. Pancake will likely be 100 -110 pounds when full grown. She is friendly and will ask for attention once she gets to know you. Potbellied pigs are very smart and make great pets so long as they have a safe enclosure. They are escape artists and like to explore and root and eat neighbors’ flowers if left in an unsecure area, so good fencing is a must. They generally get along well with goats or other small farm animals. Pancake will need a cup or so of pig chow each morning and would love fresh fruit or veggies as treats. She will also need to have her hooves trimmed by a veterinarian each year. Pancake’s adoption fee is $75. |

Angelo |
BREED: Spanish goat
AGE: Adult
SEX: Male
WEIGHT: 150 pounds |
Angelo was surrendered by owners who were ignorant as to proper care of a goat and had kept him tied to a tree. Like eventually happens to all goats tied to trees, he got tangled in the rope and had it wrapped around his neck and legs. Thankfully we were able to convince his owners to surrender him so that we could untangle him and move him to a safer environment. Angelo is a bit shy but does like to take treats from us. He has now been castrated and vaccinated by our veterinarian. He's a BIG boy but will make a nice pet for someone willing to be patient and let him learn to trust them. We would love to find a home for him where he had other large goats or maybe a mini horse to graze with.
Angelo's adopter will need to have a stall or secure area with at least 6 foot fencing to keep him for the first week or so while he acclimates to his new home because he can jump a 4 foot fence from a standstill. But, once he learns where "home" is, he is content to stay there. He is currently in 4 foot fencing and doing fine because he has bonded to his goat pals in his foster home.
Angelo's adoption fee is $150. This fee will reimburse RDF for a portion of the vet bill we paid for his castration surgery and vaccines.

Wilbur |
BREED: pig
AGE: 6 weeks
SEX: male (neutered) |
Wilbur was found on a highway as a baby with scratches and bruises. The animal control officers think he probably fell out of a transport truck. We think he was smart enough to jump!
Wilbur is absolutely the most friendly piglet we've ever seen. He likes to be held (which is unheard of for a pig) and will curl up in your lap and sleep. He'll be over 200 pounds full grown so his adoptive home will need to have a large fenced area for him. He would do fine with goats or other small farm animals if the fencing is appropriate for him. Pigs are very smart, social creatures and can be taught tricks just like dogs.
As far as veterinary care, pigs need a rabies vaccine each year and need to have their hooves trimmed periodically. |

Uncle Bob |
BREED: Nigerian Dwarf goat
AGE: 7 years
SEX: male (wether) |
Uncle Bob is hands down the most tame goat we have ever come across. He seems to think he is a person! He was surrendered to us because his companion goat died and his owners felt like he needed a new goat friend, but he really seems to prefer humans to other goats. Uncle Bob would be happiest somewhere that he would be petted a lot! We normally require that goats be adopted in pairs, but Uncle Bob would probably do fine with a horse or other animal as a companion so long as he got a lot of human attention.
Uncle Bob has been examined, vaccinated and dewormed by our veterinarian. His adoption fee is $100 to help cover that expense. |
Flip Flop |
BREED: Nubian goat
AGE: 5 months
SEX: male |
Flip Flop came to us from the Guilford County Animal Shelter. He was shy at first but now loves people, especially if they have treats! He got his name from his floppy ears!
Flip Flop has now been vaccinated, castrated and dewormed by our veterinarian. His adoption fee is $100 to help cover that expense.
Goats are very social creatures and need at least one goat buddy. They also need predator proof fencing to keep them safe. We recommend wooden fencing with predator-proof wire. Electric horse fencing is not suitable for goats. |
Be Bop |
BREED: Pygmy goat
AGE: Young Adult
SEX: female |
Be Bop came to us from the Guilford County Animal Shelter. She loves treats will follow you around for them, but is still a little bit nervous about being touched. She and Flip Flop are currently sharing a stall and paddock and get along very well, though she is the boss at feeding time.
BeBop looks like she may be pregnant. Her adoption fee is $100, which will help offset the cost of her veterinary exam and vaccines.
Goats are very social creatures and need at least one goat buddy. They also need predator proof fencing to keep them safe. We recommend wooden fencing with predator-proof wire. Electric horse fencing is not suitable for goats. |
Sun Drop |
BREED: Nigerian Dwarf goat
AGE: Young Adult
SEX: female |
Sun Drop came to us from the Guilford County Animal Shelter. She will be vaccinated and dewormed on October 22nd and will then be adoptable. Because she was housed with Flip Flop at the animal shelter, she could be pregnant. Sun Drop is a tiny little girl and is quite shy right now but we are working on that by offering her treats quite often.
We'll set her adoption fee after her veterinary exam.

Wentworth |
BREED: Peacock
AGE: Young Adult
SEX: Male |
Wentworth came to us from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter. He will need an adopter who is experienced with peacocks and has the correct enclosure and environment for him. He is friendly and is not fearful of people.

Bianca |
BREED: Bunny
AGE: Adult
SEX: Female |
Bianca came to Red Dog Farm after being found wandering a local neighborhood. It appears that someone either let Bianca go or she got away from someone. She was covered with over 400 ticks, which the veterinary staff at Sedgefield Animal Hospital and Dental Center were kind enough to remove for her. Bianca is a fantastic rabbit and has obviously been someone's pet. She will make a great family pet for someone looking a bunny to adopt. Our volunteers and the veterinary staff reports that she is one of the sweetest bunnies they have ever met. If you are interested in giving Bianca a forever home, please fill out an adoption application above.

Calvin |
BREED: Nigerian Dwarf Goat |
"Calvin" came to us from Forsyth County Animal Control. He is a very friendly little guy and is absolutely precious! He'd be a great addition to either Julie and Jane or Franklin and Eleanor. Calvin has been vaccinated and castrated and is now adoptable. His adoption fee is $100 if he is adopted alone or $75 if combined with another pair of goats adopted from us. Goats are very social herd animals, so they are happier with goat friends to play with. |
Julie and Miss Jane |
BREED: Pygmy
AGE: Julie (3), Jane (1) |
Julie and Miss Jane are young pygmy does who came to us from Forsyth County animal control. We are guessing that Julie is Jane's mother as they are extremely bonded. Because Julie and Jane are so bonded to one another, we'd like to adopt them out together. They are a bit timid of new people at first but warm up quickly, especially if new people have Cheerios to feed them as treats! Their joint adoption fee is $200.

Bullwinkle |
BREED: Boer Goat
AGE: 1 Year |
"Bullwinkle" was abandoned at a rental house when the tenant moved out. He is extremely sweet and social and loves people. He will be castrated, vaccinated, and dewormed by our veterinarian and will then be adoptable. His adoption fee will be $125. Bullwinkle would make a great addition to any goat herd and is friendly enough to be housed with smaller goats even though he's a big boy. |
"Ba Ba"
the black sheep |
BREED: Suffolk
AGE: 1-2 Years |
"Ba Ba" was found as a stray in Forsyth County and surrendered to animal control, who called us. She is extremely friendly and not a bit fearful of people. She especially likes to have her head scratched. Ba Ba has a deformed hoof that our veterinarian checked out, trimmed, and determined is not painful to her. She does not limp at all. She has been vaccinated and is ready to go to a new home. Because we don't know her history, we don't know whether she is pregnant. What a sweet girl! Ba Ba's adoption fee is $150. |
Tinkerbell |
BREED: Pygmy Goat
DOB: May 23, 2010 |
Tinkerbell was surrendered to us after her mother died when she was a week old. One of our volunteers is currently bottle feeding her. She is in a foster home with other goats and is doing very well. Tinkerbell would be a good companion for Julie and Jane or Franklin and Eleanor (below), or could be adopted by someone who already has pygmy goats for her to play with. Tinkerbell will be vaccinated when she is old enough. Her adoption fee is $150. |

Clover and Basil |
BREED: Boer/Nubian cross |
"Clover" (mom) and "Basil" (son) came to us from a situation of horrible neglect in Greene County, NC in which the Humane Society of the United States Animal Cruelty Response Team was called in to help animal control confiscate over 70 animals (mostly pigs) from a farm. HSUS called us and asked us if we could take the two goats, which we were happy to do. You can read the HSUS press release about this case and view pictures here. You'll see Clover and Basil on page 9 of 14. Because of the political power of the pig farmers in Greene County, HSUS lost this case and was forced to return the animals to the owner. How awful! Thankfully we were able to negotiate to keep these two goats, who will be adoptable as soon as Basil is castrated. Because we have to start from scratch with vaccines and pay for his castration surgery, their joint adoption fee will be $200.
Update! Basil has now been castrated. Clover and Basil and now both ready to go to their new home. They are doing wonderfully in their foster home and would make a great addition to someone's farm. |

Peter and Thumper |
BREED: Bunnies
AGE: Young |
Peter (black bunny, top 2 photos) is a loving bunny who loves to have attention. He loves having a special bunny salad in the afternoon and sometimes will give bunny "kisses" for special treats.
Thumper is the white bunny. Thumper loves his bunny salad and is really thrilled to have pellets as a treat every now and then. Thumper does not liked being picked up and will give a firm "thump" on the floor when you make him mad. Neither of the two bunnies like each other and need to be separate so that they will not fight. |

Bella |
BREED: Nubian
DOB: March 2, 2010 |
"Bella" was a triplet whose mother rejected all three of her kids. Another female goat who had lost a kid accepted Bella's siblings, but not Bella. Therefore, Bella was surrendered to us and is being bottle fed. We plan to wean her at about 8 weeks old (May 1st or so) and she will be adoptable at that time. Bella is currently sharing a stall and paddock with two nice adult goats who are teaching her goat behavior. She is an absolute doll and has won over the heart of every volunteer who has pitched in to help bottle feed her. Bella will need to be adopted with some of our other goats or by someone who already has other goats as pets. Her adoption fee will be set after she is vaccinated.
Update! Bella was adopted by one of our volunteers who fell in love!

Jon and Morgan |
BREED: Pygmy goat (wether)
AGE: 1 year |
Jon and Morgan were abandoned at the Greensboro Montessori School with a bag of carrots. The school called us for help when they found them on the playground. We named the goats after two gentlemen at the school who helped us round them up. Jon and Morgan have now been vaccinated and castrated and are ready for a new home.
They are very bonded to one another and we would like to keep them together. Because we had to have both surgically castrated (which is expensive!) as well as vaccinated and dewormed, their joint adoption fee is $200. |
"Curtis" came to us as a stray and has taught all of us a lot about emu care as this was new to us! He is very social and enjoys attention. He eats a mixture of chicken feed and fresh fruit and enjoys having his neck petted. Curtis needs a home with at least 6 foot fencing as emu can jump very easily. He is very curious about other animals but we have not left him alone with any other animals so far. If you are interested in adopting Curtis, please complete the application above. |

Petunia |
BREED: Pygmy goat
AGE: 1 year |
“Petunia” came to us from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter. She is not afraid of humans at all and has become Popcorn's best friend in their foster home. She is a very cute girl! Petunia's adoption fee is $100. She has been vaccinated and is now adoptable. Because we don't know where Petunia came from, it is possible that she is pregnant. |

Hamlet |
BREED: Landrace Pig
SEX: Male
AGE: Young |
“Hamlet” is coming to Red Dog Farm on Monday, August 31st from Burlington, NC animal control. We will post new pictures once he is here, but these were sent to us from the nice people in Burlington who have been caring for him. They tell us that Hamlet is very friendly and likes to be petted and fed treats by hand. We will update Hamlet’s bio as soon as he arrives.
Update - What a cutie! He is a very social little man. Hamlet comes when called and loves to have his ears scratched. If you rub his belly he will roll over! He will be quite large when full grown though, so his adopter needs to be ready for a large, fun, smart pet! Hamlet is not afraid of dogs and interacts nicely with goats and donkeys.

"Molly" came to us from the Guilford County Animal Shelter after being found as a stray. She has an ear tag, which makes us think that she's been to a livestock auction, but we don't know where she came from. She's a sweet girl who would love to be in a herd of other goats. If you are interested in adopting Molly, please complete the application above. Molly's adoption fee is $75. |

Snickers and Rusty |
BREED: Nubian Goats
AGE: 4 - 5 Months |
"Snickers and Rusty" came to us from the Guilford County Animal Shelter after being found as strays. Snickers (brown and white) has horrible lacerations on all four ankles from being hog-tied. His lacerations are so deep that his foster mom has to medicate and wrap them every day for at least 3 weeks before we can even consider adopting him out. Who could be so cruel as to do this to a precious young goat? These boys are learning that not all humans are bad and will be looking for a new home once Snickers heals and both are castrated. We'll update you on Snickers' progress as his wounds heal.
Update! Snickers is doing great! His foster family has done a wonderful job cleaning and medicating his wounds and he should be well enough to be castrated soon.
Update! Snickers and Rusty have now been castrated and are adoptable at this time. Their joint adoption fee is $175. |

Telly |
BREED: Toggenburg (dairy goat)
AGE: 5 - 6 years |
"Telly" had been loose as a stray in Lexington, NC for over 6 months when two very dedicated women finally earned her trust and coaxed her in to a horse trailer with food. Telly looks a lot like a deer and they were afraid she would be shot by hunters. Telly is a big, sweet girl who is nervous around humans but curious about us, so we will work on hand feeding her to earn her trust. She would do well in a herd with other goats to buddy up with.
Telly has been vaccinated and is ready for a new home. Telly's adoption fee is $75 and will be discounted to $50 if she is adopted with Gypsy and Glitter as she has bonded to them. |
Gypsy and Glitter |
BREED: Nubian Goat
AGE: Mother and daughter |
Gypsy (mom) and Glitter (daughter) came to us from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter. They are gorgeous goats who appear to be in very good health. Gypsy is afraid of people, so we are working to gain her trust. Glitter is torn - she knows that mom is afraid but she thinks people are pretty interesting. Both are beginning to come to us for food, so we'll have them tame in no time. Gypsy and Glitter need to be adopted together. Their joint adoption fee is $150.
Update! Gypsy and Glitter have now received two rounds of vaccines and are ready for a new home. They have learned that people often come bearing Cheerio treats and therefore are pretty cool! Glitter is less afraid than Gypsy but both are coming out of their shell and will make great pets.
Update! Gypsy and Glitter are getting to be quite tame. They enjoy grazing in the front yard of their foster home when the humans are there to watch and will follow their foster parents right back in to the goat pen for treats when it is time for bed. They like other goats a lot and will be a good addition to another small goat herd. |

Laverne and Shirley |
BREED: Miniature Horses
AGE: Laverne 4, Shirley 6 |
Laverne (black with white blaze) and Shirley (palamino paint) came to us from Orange County Animal Control. Their owners were no longer able to care for them. They are precious girls who are very bonded and need to be adopted together. They were good for the farrier and loaded very easily in our trailer for treats. They'll need to be kept off of lush pasture in spring and fall so that they don't founder (or they could wear grazing muzzles). They have been examined and vaccinated by our veterinarian and appear to be healthy. Because we don't know where they came from, we can't guarantee that they aren't pregnant. They sure are pretty girls! Both have blue eyes.
Their joint adoption fee is $500.
Update! These girls are scheduled to move to a forever home in Polkton, NC on December 5th. |

Joy |
BREED: Nigerian Dwarf
AGE: 2 years |
"Joy" came to us with Yankee and Doodle. All three came from a good home in the mountains where they were petted by all of the customers of a hiking outfitter. They are some of the most friendly, social, laid back goats we have ever been around. They are not afraid of humans at all and will even let you rub them and scratch their ears while they are lying down. Joy has super cool white and brown spots. She has a limp due to one front leg being slightly smaller than the other but is not bothered by it. Joy likes Yankee and Doodle and is adoptable with them or by herself so long as her adopter has other goats. She will be vaccinated ASAP. Joy's adoption fee is $100. |
Yankee and Doodle |
BREED: Nigerian Dwarf (twins)
AGE: 3 years |
Yankee and Doodle came to us with "Joy." All three came from a good home in the mountains where they were petted by all of the customers of a hiking outfitter. They are some of the most friendly, social, laid back goats we have ever been around. They are not afraid of humans at all and will even let you rub them and scratch their ears while they are lying down. Yankee and Doodle are twins and are very best friends, so they must be adopted together. They have been castrated and will be vaccinated ASAP. Their joint adoption fee is $200. |

Sutton and Sophie |
BREED: White Suffolk
AGE: 3 years |
Sutton and Sophie were abandoned when their owners moved away. As you can see, they are a dirty matted mess! Sutton was castrated and both were vaccinated by our veterinarian. They were both sheared this summer and their wool coats are now growing back out for winter. Sutton is very social and enjoys being petted. Sophie is more shy but will come up to humans so long as Sutton shows her that it is OK. Sophie and Sutton are beautiful sheep and make fun pets.
Sophie and Sutton are very bonded and must be adopted together. Their joint adoption fee is $150. |
Mr. Mu |
BREED: Pot-Bellied Pig |
This is our newest pot-bellied pig picked up from Forsyth County animal control. His bio will be updated once his foster mom gets to know him.
Update! Mr. Mu barely made it to the website before he was adopted by a family who has adopted quite a few animals in the past. He got a great home! |
Heidi |
BREED: Saanen Goat
AGE: Young female |
"Heidi" came to us from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter as a stray. She is a few months old and a little bit shy but very curious about people. She'll be tame as can be in no time. Saanens are fancy Swiss dairy goats and we don't see many of them in this area. We'll update Heidi's bio as we get to know her. Heidi's adoption fee will be $75. |
Ross |
BREED: Bunny
AGE: Young |
Ross came to us from a girl who rescued him but found out she is very allergic to bunnies. Ross is super sweet, loves to be petted, and enjoys munching on any treats that you give him. He would make a great pet for someone who wanted either their first bunny or a companion for another bunny. He is all white with some grey spots on his ears and feet. Yes, he does have red eyes; it was not the photographer or camera. If you are interested in adopting Ross, please fill out an adoption application above.

-T-Bone |
BREED: Boer Goat
AGE: 2-3 years |
"T-Bone" is one of the most handsome goats we've ever seen! He was adopted from us about a year ago and his adoptive owner needs to rehome him because he has become very possesive of her female goat and doesn't want to let anyone near her. T-Bone is very sweet but needs to be in a situation where he is either with other castrated males or where his owner does not mind him being the boss of the "ladies" in his herd. T-Bone has been castrated and is current on vaccines. His adoption fee is $75.
Have you ever seen such a cool looking spotted goat? If you are interested in adopting T-Bone, please submit the application at the top of this page. |
Amigo |
BREED: Spanish Goat
AGE: Adult
"Amigo" came to us from animal control after being picked up as a stray. He is very friendly and was obviously someone's pet at one time. He is one of the most handsome goats we've ever seen and likes to "dance" - he stands up on his hind legs to show off but does not head butt people. In fact, all he wants is for you to scratch his ears! Amigo would be a great addition to any herd of friendly horned goats. Amigo has been castrated, vaccinated and dewormed and is now available for adoption. His adoption fee is $75.
Queenie's herd |
BREED: Pygmy Goats
SEX: Female
AGE: 2 - 4 years old |
"Queen Beatrice, Curious Georgia and La Petite" came to us from the Guilford County Animal Shelter. They are sweet girls who will follow us around the farm for sweet feed and are easy to lead back to their stall after we let them graze. They have all been vaccinated, examined by our veterinarian, and have had their hooves trimmed. These three black nannies appear to be related and because we don't know where they came from, we don't know for sure that they are not pregnant.
Queen Beatrice is the queen bee for sure and may be the mother of the others. Curious Georgia is the most social and likes to sniff out our pockets. La Petite is a tiny, petite little girl, in fact the smallest pygmy goat we've ever seen. The white goat is "Billy," who is not related to the girls but has been added to their herd because he is very social and likes people, and is teaching them to like people asw ell. These pictures make them look larger than they are. Their adoption fees will be $75 for one of them, $125 for two and $150 for all three - these girls love to play together and we'd like to see them stay together if possible.

Rudy and Norm |
Tennessee Fainting Goats
Age: Young Adults |
Rudy and Norm are a little over a year old. Rudy has horns and Norm does not, but they still love to play together! Each has been castrated, vaccinated (rabies, CD&T) and dewormed with Ivermectin. Woody’s adoption fee is $75, or $125 for he and either Norm or Rudy, or $150 for all three! |
John Henry |
BREED: Miniature Donkey
SEX: Male
AGE: 10 years old |
John Henry is a very sweet miniature donkey who was vaccinated and gelded on July 22nd and is now available for adoption. He is very social and will let you walk right up, halter him and scratch him all over. He is not shy but not pushy either - everyone who has met him has fallen in love. He is sharing a pasture in his foster home with Sophie and Sutton (sheep, see below) and his foster mom's pig, calf and goats and he gets along great with all of them.
His feet are overgrown so we will have our farrier trim them and get them healthy again. Donkeys, like horses, need their feet trimmed every 8 weeks or so to keep them healthy.
Miniature donkeys live for 40 to 50 years, so John Henry is barely a teenager in donkey years!
John Henry would make a great companion for a horse or guardian for sheep or goats. He, like most donkeys, will kick a dog if it nips at his heels, but he is fine with dogs that don't offer to chase him. If you are interested in adopting John Henry, please complete the application above. His adoption fee is $500, which barely covers our vet and farrier bill for castrating him, getting him up to date on vaccines and having his feet trimmed.
Update! John Henry moved to a big farm in Williamston, NC where he will be a prized pet! |
Woody |
BREED: Tennessee Fainting Goat
AGE: 10 Months |
Woody is a castrated male and is very social. He is currently being fostered with Rudy and Norm and the three boys are quite a trio. We would love to see all three of them adopted together but will separate them if need be, so long as they will have goat companions in their new home. Woody’s adoption fee is $75, or $125 for he and either Norm or Rudy, or $150 for all three! |
Romeo |
BREED: Boer/Spanish cross
AGE: 3 Years |
"Romeo" had been tied to a tree and wrapped one of his hind legs in his rope. His owner was unable to untangle him and surrendered him to us so that we could get him proper veterinary care. Tying goats to anything is very dangerous - they can become entangled in the rope or worse yet can be chased and tormented by dogs, coyotes, etc. Goats should always have predator-proof fencing and should never be tied. He was very cooperative when we untangled him and loaded him into a crate to move to his foster home. He's a big sweet boy and will make a nice pet. Romeo has now been vaccinated and castrated and his adoption fee is $75 or $125 for he and Amigo.
Romeo and Amigo were adopted out together but are too big and strong to play nicely with the much smaller pygmy goats in their adoptive home, so we'd like to find them a new home together where they have bigger goats to play with.

Trooper and Trouble |
Tennessee Fainting Goat
Age: 12 weeks (twins) |
Trooper and Trouble are Trina's twin boys (Trina's bio is shown below). They are now available for adoption. We would like to keep these brothers together as they are very bonded. The boys have already been vaccinated and castrated and are ready for a new home together. Their joint adoption fee will be $175. |
Big Momma, Cinco, and Maya |
BREED: Tennessee Fainting Goats |
Big Momma came to us pregnant and had her twins in her foster home. “Cinco” (male) and “Maya” (female) were born on May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) and were named for their birthdate. They’ll need to stay with Big Momma for at least 12 weeks, so we would love to see all three be adopted together. Big Momma has been vaccinated and Cinco has been castrated. The twins will need vaccines when they are 4 months old. They are being fostered by a family with children and have received lots of attention, so they are very friendly. If you are interested in adopting this trio, please complete the application above. Their joint adoption fee is $250. |
Trina |
Tennessee Fainting Goat
Age: Trina - Adult
Trina is going to be adopted with "Pressley" (above) as soon as Trooper and Trouble (her twins) are weaned. The twins will be adoptable at that time as well.
Trooper is the goat kid in this picture. He and his twin "Trouble" are adoptable as well (see below). |
Pressley |
Tennessee Fainting Goat
Age: Adult |
What a handsome guy! Pressley has beautiful markings and is very sweet. He has been castrated, vaccinated (rabies, CD&T) and dewormed with Ivermectin. His adoption fee is $100 or any two adult goats for $150.
Update - Pressley is going to be adopted with Trina. |

Astro and Sonic |
BREED: Rooster / Hen
AGE: Young |
"Astro and Sonic" are young chickens who were dyed as chicks and sold as Easter pets. As is often the case, the parents whose children received these dyed chicks as a gift soon tired of caring for them. Astro (dyed orange) is a rooster and Sonic (dyed green) is a hen. Thankfully the dyed colors will eventually be gone once these chicks develop their adult feathers. They will be solid white chickens as adults. If you would like to adopt Astro and Sonic and you have a safe coop or enclosure for them, please submit an adoption application. Their adoption fee is $5 and they must be adopted together.
Both Astro and Sonic have been adopted! |

Lorelei and Linus |
BREED: Barbados Black Bellied Hair Sheep
AGE: 1 year (Lorelei)
WEIGHT: 50 lbs.
SEX: Female |
"Lorelei" came to us as a stray from the Forsyth County animal shelter. She was found with a male sheep but we made the hard decision to euthanize him due to several serious injuries including a broken leg. Lorelei is shy and sad because she lost her buddy but we've put one of our very tame goats in with her as a new companion. She is very, very docile and will likely make a great pet once she begins to trust humans. Barbados Black Bellied Hair Sheep are rare in this area and are popular in the Carribean. They do not produce wool and do not need to be sheared. We will update sweet Lorelei's bio as she learns to trust us.
Update! We did not know that Lorelei was pregnant when she came to us, but she is a great mom! Lorelei gave birth to "Linus" on May 15th and we don't think lambs get much cuter than this little man!
Lorelei and Linus will be adoptable together as soon as Linus is castrated, which will be the first week of June. |

Sweet Sally Brown |
AGE: Senior |
Sweet Sally Brown came from animal control as a stray. She is emaciated and very timid but very sweet. Our veterinarian examined Sally on May 6th and guesses her to be about 10 years old. It looks to him like she has just weaned kids. Sally needs an adopter willing to feed high quality roughage and give her the extra TLC that she'll need to gain weight and keep weight on as she ages. Because of Sally's age, her adoption fee will be waived for the right home.
Sally has been vaccinated (rabies, CD&T) and dewormed with Ivermectin. |
Big Daddy Elvis |
Tennessee Fainting Goat
AGE: Adult |
Big Daddy Elvis is an absolutely gorgeous goat! He was the breeding buck of this herd but because we are trying to decrease the number of unwanted animals in general, we had him surgically castrated on May 6th. Big Daddy Elvis was sweet as a buck and will be even sweeter as a wether.
Elvis has been castrated, vaccinated (rabies, CD&T) and dewormed with Ivermectin. His adoption fee is $100.

Big Brown and Cali |
BREED: La Mancha cross/ Nubian
AGE: Adult |
Big Brown and Cali came to us along with the Tennessee Fainting Goats. We're not sure how these two ended up with that herd, but they are very bonded and we'd love for them to stay together. Big Brown is already castrated and both are very sweet. |

Imogene Limousine and Mary Catherine |
BREED:
Angus/Hereford Mixes
AGE: 17 Years
SEX: Female |
These female cows were bottle raised at pets by a family who no longer has access to enough pasture for them. They have asked us to help them find a home where these sweet girls can stay together and be pets instead of dinner. They are tame and enjoy the company of humans. If you are looking for beautiful animals to fill your pasture, these two girls might be perfect for you.

Sebastian |
BREED: Donkey
AGE: 7 Years
SEX: Male |
Sebastian is a 7 year old rescued donkey gelding who needs to be in a home without mares. He can be very aggressive to horses when a mare is in season, but gets along fine with them all other times and has had no problems with goats. He has foundered in the past and has to be kept off of new or deep grass. Sebastian is very tame and can give little children rides. He does not like dogs and cats and would be an excellent guard animal. Donkeys are often used as protection in a pasture full of goats or sheep. Sebastian is up to date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $150. |
Checkers and Cheerio |
BREED: Rabbit
COLOR: Black and White / White
SEX: Male |
Checkers and Cheerio were surrendered by a nice family who trapped them and brought them to us after someone dumped them in their yard. Domesticated rabbits cannot fend for themselves in the wild and this was very cruel. Checkers (black and white) and Cheerio (white) are both males and must have been raised together as they are best friends. We would prefer to place them in a new home together. Their joint adoption fee is $25.

Polka and Dottie |
BREED: Pygmy Goat
AGE: 9-12 Months |
"Polka and Dottie" are 9 - 12 month old females who appear to be twins. They play constantly and will be adopted out as a pair. Polka and Dottie have been dewormed, had all of their vaccines and booster vaccines and are now available for adoption. Their joint adoption fee will be $150. |
Patches and PJ |
BREED: Pygmy Goat
AGE: Young Adult |
"Patches and PJ" (young adult females) are adoptable as a pair. Because these sweet girls were housed with the same larger Buck that impregnated Grace (see Grace's story below), we cannot guarantee that they are not pregnant. We want to make sure that any potential adopter is willing to enlist veterinary assistance if they are pregnant as they too may have trouble delivering kids fathered by a large breed buck. Patches and PJ have been dewormed, had all of their vaccines and booster vaccines and are now available for adoption. Their joint adoption fee will be $150. |
Tulip and Teensy |
BREED: Pygmy Goat |
"Tulip and Teensy" (mother and daughter) have been reserved by a family who has adopted a cat, two hens and a rooster from Red Dog Farm. They'll pick up their new "girls" once the quarantine period is over and Tulip has had her booster vaccines. |
Amazing Grace |
BREED: Pygmy Goat
AGE: Young Adult |
"Grace" got her name from the truly amazing grace she displayed during the emergency situation in which she came to us. Grace went in to labor with twins but was unable to deliver them because she had been bred to a much larger male goat (a very bad idea). Her owner called us because she was in severe distress. Our veterinarian delivered the twins but unfortunately both had already died because she'd been allowed to labor far too long before they called us. Grace has been through a lot and is now resting quietly until she makes a full recovery. She will then be available for adoption. She is a special girl and we're so glad that we were able to save her.
Update! Grace is healing nicely and we were able to convince Grace's surrendering owner to surrender all of his female goats, so we now have a herd of seven sweet girls. We'll post them all soon! They were all vaccinated and dewormed on January 31st and will receive booster vaccines in three weeks, so they'll be adoptable near the end of February.
Update! Grace is being adopted by a wonderful RDF volunteer who has other pygmy goats! |

Caviar, Elvis, and Johnny |
BREED:
Huacaya Alpacas |
All 3 alpacas were adopted together - hooray! |
Caviar, Elvis, and Johnny are registered Huacaya alpacas. They are not "true rescues" but are being donated to us to raise funds to help other farm animals in need.
In general, alpacas are gentle, shy creatures. These guys are no exception. They will hang out with you, and are comfortable standing near, but do not like being caught. They will tolerate dogs and cats and have been pastured with horses and a mini donkey with no problems.
The first alpaca is Angels Delight aka Caviar. She is a 5 year old light rose grey with blue eyes. She has Peruvian and Chilean alpaca in her bloodlines. Caviar is very gentle and a bit of a nosy girl. She likes to look over your shoulder and see what you're up to when you're out in the pasture. She especially likes apples and will eat out of your hand.
The second alpaca is a gelded male named Leviticus. He is a 6 year old with a medium fawn color and has excellent dense, crimpy fleece. He is a bit bow-legged, but gets around fine and doesn't have any discomfort; he just looks a little funny! His adorable mop head earned him the barn name "Elvis." Elvis is a pretty laid back, even tempered alpaca, though he really does not enjoy shearing time. Fortunately, that only comes one time a year!
The third alpaca is a 10 year old gelded male named Juan Ramos. He is half Peruvian and is extremely handsome. He is a light fawn color and also has very nice fleece. Johnny is the leader of this little herd. He is curious and likes to watch what the people are doing, especially when they work in the garden. He is also very motivated by food!
Caviar, Elvis, and Johnny are very entertaining creatures! Since they have been together for most of their lives, they must be adopted together. |

Lilly was surrendered because her owner was not allowed to have a pig in her neighborhood. She is littertrained and has been strictly indoors. Pot bellied pigs are very smart and can be great pets for people willing to learn about their needs. |

Thelma and Louise |
BREED: Pygmy Goats |
"Thelma and Louise" are young female pygmy goats who were found as strays. They are a bit shy and need a patient adopter to teach them to trust humans, but they are sweet girls. We will have them vaccinated and dewormed before they are adopted. Their joint adoption fee will be $100 and we'd like for them to stay together as they are very bonded. |
Itsy and Bitsy
(twin males) |
BREED: Saanen (Swiss Dairy Goats)
AGE: 14 Weeks
SIZE (when grown): large |
Itsy (top) and Bitsy were surrendered by a goat breeder when their mother became sick and could no longer nurse them. They have been bottle raised. They are very calm in nature and will make great pets! They love to follow us around and have become friends with the dogs in their foster home. Itsy and Bitsy have been castrated and are up to date on vaccines. Itsy and Bitsy must be adopted together. Their joint adoption fee is $200.
Update! As of July 29th, Itsy and Bitsy's adoption fee has been reduced to $150 for both. These sweet boys will make GREAT pets as they love everyone (even the 5 dogs in their foster home) and are very, very people oriented. They absolutely must stay together because they are very best friends.
Adopted! |

BREED: Donkey

Oreo was an owner surrender. Oreo is a fantastic house guest and keeps his own space extremely clean for a bunny. He also sits very nicely for you to pet him or give him a pedicure. He enjoys just hanging out or hopping around. He also puts up nicely with the larger animals poking him out of interest. Oreo is the PERFECT bunny. Do you have room in your heart for this sweet boy? |

They have been pastured with a horse and are now sharing a pasture with a donkey while in foster care. Sally and Boo will only be adopted out together and their joint adoption fee is $1500. |
Fred and Barney |
BREED: Pot-Bellied Pigs
AGE: Unknown
COLOR: Black and White |
These two pot bellied pigs were strays and were surrendered to us by the animal shelter. They were shy at first but have now learned to like people (and treats!). If you are interested in Fred and Barney please do some research about caring for pigs. They are smart animals and need a small pasture or fenced area. They get along well with goats or other small pasture animals. |
