Elmo

BREED: Blue & Gold Macaw

AGE:  15 - 20 years old

SEX:  Male

Elmo came to Red Dog Farm after being pulled from a horrible situation after his original owner died.  He was eating parakeet food because the family didn't know any better.  This is not a proper diet for Parrots and his living quarters were inadequate and filthy.  He is recovering well in his foster home and is now being a typical bird.  He loves his Parrot food, getting a bath, preening, and talking to his foster family.  He knows to step up, dance, and say hello.  We think he knows much more than that but so far is choosing to listen to his new flock and practice talking like them.  Despite his previous living situation, he is fairly well adjusted and in good health.  At some point, he sustained a broken wing that was never fixed.  Therefore, Elmo will never be able to fly again but he does do his wing exercises with his one good wing and loves to ride along on our arm through the house.  We are still getting to know Elmo but in the meantime he proves to us daily that he has a lot of love to give someone.  If you are interested in adopting Elmo, please fill out an adoption application above.

Elmo's adoption fee will be set when we get to know him better.

Anastasia

BREED: Russian Dwarf Hamster

AGE:  1 year old

Anastasia’s adoption fee is $10.00.

Do

BREED: Parakeet

AGE: Adult

SEX:  Female(?)

*Application in Process*

Do came to Red Dog Farm along with her companions Re and Mi.  These poor birds were left abandoned in an apartment after their owners left.  Fortunately for them, the owners of the property got them to safety.  These sweet little birds LOVE to sing and chatter away.  However, they are also very respectful birds and aren't too loud about it.  We couldn't think of more appropriate names for them than Do, Re, and Mi given their love of talking.  We believe that two of them are females and one of them is a male (although he is a little young still and may lose some of his "blue" coloring).  They appear have been handled at some point but are unsure of new folks.  If you are looking for a little birdie companion to whistle away your days, then Do is your girl.  Please fill out an adoption application above if you would like to take her home.

Do's adoption fee is $15.00.

Edgar

BREED: Iguana

AGE: 2-3 years old

SEX:  Male

Edgar came to Red Dog Farm after being found in a tree by gentleman who didn't know how to handle them so he lost part of his tail. After driving around for hours in the back of a truck in the pouring down rain, a very kind woman rescued Edgar from his cold situation and got him in to the vet to warm him up and get treatment for his tail. He has now received a clean bill of health and will eventually grow part of his tail back. We are not sure if Edgar was released or accidentally got out but due to our weather and environment in North Carolina, he would not have made it very long outside. Edgar needs a specially designed environment to help him stay warm enough and healthy to live a full life. Edgar doesn't mind being handled and is a friendly young Iguana. Our staff and volunteers are nursing him back to health and continue working with him to make sure he is all set for his new home. If you are interested in adotping Edgar, please fill out an adoption application above.

Edgar's adoption fee is $100.00.

Yes, we at Red Dog Farm care for all creatures great and small.  Therefore, meet Nancy the fancy mouse.  She is 5 months old and was born with a mole (that's fancy for spot) on her back.  Our veterinarian says she should be able to live a happy, healthy mouse life.  Nancy loves to be held by adults or kids.  She will sit very patiently in your hand.  Nancy requires a safe cage away from predators (that's fancy for cats) and will require fresh food and water daily.  She will also need some excerise and attention from you to continue to stay sweet.  Nancy would make a wonderful addition to any home.  If you are interested in giving this sweet fancy girl a home, please fill out an adoption application above.

Nancy's adoption fee is $10.00.

Wilson

BREED: Chinchilla

AGE: 7 months old

SEX:  Male

Wilson came to Red Dog Farm after his owners moved and could not take him. He is a young fella who is still learning that being held is a good thing. He doesn't mind getting petted and can be held for short periods of time. Chinchillas are extremely soft, curious, and nocturnal creatures. Wilson would do best in a home with either an experienced Chinchilla owner or someone willing to put the time in to doing their research. Either way, Wilson will need an owner willing to commit some time to him to teach him basic manners. He is just young and simply doesn't know but is certainly sweet enough to be the best Chinchilla ever! If you are interested in adopting Wilson, please fill out an adoption application above.

Wilson's adoption fee is $75.00.

Update: Wilson is doing great!  He is learning the “chinchilla bounce,” where they run around the room and bounce off the walls.  He is a very cute little guy and can move very fast.  He is a little difficult to catch at this point and does not like to be held, but in time, he will improve.  He has a great personality and played with his foster family's oldest chin, Hobbes.

Click here or here to see two cute little videos of Wilson playing.

Hannah

BREED: Bunny

AGE: 1 Year

SEX:  Female

Hannah is a very sweet bunny who loves to hop around the house and stay right near your feet. Her favorite pastime is to play with her wooden carrot toy and chew sticks. She is timid at first but warms up quickly to new people. She is a good eater and loves to try new veggies. Hannah is almost a year old so she won't get any bigger. She has had regular nail trimmings and holds very still for them. Hannah would make an excellent pet for anyone looking for their first bunny or another bunny to add to their family.  If you are interested in adopting Hannah, please fill out an adoption application above.

Hannah's adoption fee is $25.00.

Update! Hannah is one fantastic rabbit! She travels well to adoption events and loves to be held. She recently spent the day at The Greensboro Children's Museum with us and let everyone pet and dote all over her. We still think she would do best in a quiet home with older children. She loves playing with her foster Mom's kittens and doesn't seem to mind the dogs in the household. Her foster Mom says that Hannah is the best bunny and the easiest to take care of. She is a very clean rabbit and just goes with the flow.

Picture 4 & 5 - Hannah letting children pet her at The Greensboro Children's Museum. She even let Ashley (one of our adoptable kittens) snuggle with her in her cage!

decided that they didn’t have enough time to give her the attention she needed. Lolli is still just a baby and is learning to trust people. She is timid when you first pick her up but settles down after you pet her and talk to her. She loves her food and special treats and even gives you “kisses” when you open her cage. She is a very small bunny and currently weighs under 2 lbs. She would do best in a quiet home with older children because of her size. We are still getting to know Lollihop and will update her bio as she gets comfortable in her foster home. If you are interested in adopting Lollie, please fill out an adoption application above.

Lollie's adoption fee is $25.00.

Freestyle

BREED: Cockatiel

Freestyle's adoption fee is $25.00.

If you are intrested in adopting Hammy, please fill out the application above.

Hammy's adoption fee is $10.00.

She is a very sweet girl who loves to be held and brushed. We are unsure of her exact age but think she is a younger adult. She loves to eat veggies and hay and explore new things. She is very smart and has taken to litter box training very quickly. She seems to like cats, dogs and of course people but would prefer to be the only bunny or at least needs to be caged separately from other rabbits. If you are interested in adopting Lilah,  please fill out the adoption application above!

Emilia

BREED: Mini Rex Rabbit

AGE: 2 Years Old

SEX: Female

Meet "Emilia". She is a 2 year old Mini Rex Rabbit. She came to Red Dog Farm after her owner developed an allergy to her and could no longer keep her. When she was a baby she had an injury which caused her ankle to break. She was confined to a small cage while her foot was in a cast to keep her from jumping around. Due to this traumatic situation she became territorial of her cage and doesn't like for you to mess with her home.  Her foster mom simply allows Emilia to come out of her cage on her own. Once she is out of her cage you can pick her up and play with her. She probably would do best as the only bunny in the home, however she doesn't seem to mind cats or dogs. She loves to be petted and loves her special bunny treats. Her favorite thing to do is to hop around her foster Mom's house and explore new places.

Jeremy

SPECIES: Cockatiel

AGE:  12 Years

Jeremy is a 12 year old Cockatiel. He came to Red Dog Farm along with Clarence, a Parakeet. Due to his previous owners medical concerns they could no longer keep them. He has been well loved and is in great health! He knows his name and loves to sing and talk. He says "Good bird Jeremy", "Bye Bye" and "Mom left". He doesn't like to be petted but he LOVES for you to talk to him. He likes to whistle and sing (mumble) along with the radio. His favorite toy is a little mirror that has a bell on it. He "talks" to himself all the time! He comes with his own cage and toys!

Kah

SPECIES: Ball Python

LENGTH: 4 feet

Kah came to Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network after being found as stray.  He originally was treated for an eye infection in both eyes which has resulted in a little bit of scarring.  However, he now has a clean bill of health and the scarring does not bother his ability to shed. Kah is a curious and sweet ball python who enjoys being handled by his foster family.  He also enjoys playing with the resident Great Dane.  Who would have thought that a snake and a dog would find a way to play together.  If you are interested in adopting Kah, please fill out an adoption application above.

Kah's adoption fee is $50.00.

Clarence

SPECIES: Parakeet

AGE: 9 Years

Clarence is a 9 year old Parakeet or Lutino Budgie, meaning he is all yellow with some white markings. He came to Red Dog Farm along with Jeremy, a Cockatiel. Jane Bunjovi

BREED: Dwarf Rabbit

AGE: 3 Years

SEX: Female

Jane Bunjovi came to Red Dog Farm after her owners could no longer keep her.  She is a petite and very sweet girl who loves people but is a tad camera shy.  She can often be found being cuddled by her foster mom or really anyone who wants to hold a bunny.  Jane enjoys her salad and bunny treats.  Jane also likes to listen to rock n' roll which is partially how she got her name.  If you are interested in adopting Jane Bunjovi, please fill out an adoption application above.

Jasper

BREED: Blue Fronted Amazon Parrot

AGE: 25+ Years

SEX: Unknown

Jasper was found hanging out on a golf course.  Fortunately for him, someone scooped him up and took him to a local veterinarian's office where he was treated for shock and dehydration.  We are not sure how he got to the golf course but just like Toby (below) he would not have survived without human assistance.  Our natural habitat in North Carolina is not designed to provide sufficient food for his breed.  Jasper is now resting comfortably in a foster home until we get to know him better.  He appears to have been someone's pet at one point in his life.  He has already said "hello" and "oh no".  At this time, we are unsure what training he has had or if he is even hand-trained.  He is a sweet boy who will need an experienced parrot owner until we get to know him better.  We will continue to update you on his progress as we get to know him better.  If you are interested in adopting Jasper, please fill out an application above.

*Note: We are referring to Jasper as a "he" for now although his gender is currently unknown.

Toby

BREED: Parakeet

Toby was found lost at a local golf course in Greensboro.  We are not sure if someone let him go or if he accidentally flew out an open door but had he been left to fend for himself he never would have made it.  Parakeets don't have food naturally available in the wild around North Carolina plus he appears to never have been outside.  Toby is friendly, probably already finger trained, and well cared for before becoming lost.  If you are interested in a birdie companion, Toby is your man.  He enjoys chirping, getting petted, and watching his human "flock".  If you are interested in adopting Toby, please fill out an adoption application above.

Glenda

SPECIES: Ball Python

LENGTH: 4 feet

Glenda came to Red Dog Farm when she outgrew the available space at her previous home.  Glenda is a sweet, well cared for ball python who is looking for a forever home to call her own.  She has been handled previously and doesn't mind being held.  She is just finishing shedding so her color will be nice and pretty for whomever wants to come meet her.  She enjoys hiding under her log and basking from time to time in the sun.  She is looking for an experienced snake owner who has the room for her tank and is willing to spend sometime with her.  If you are interested in adopting Glenda, please fill out an adoption application above.

Puff

BREED: Bearded Dragon

AGE: 5 Years

Puff came to Red Dog Farm when his owners could no longer care for him.  Puff is a fabulous Bearded Dragon who loves to walk around with you, watch television, and eat strawberries (which he LOVES).  He is good with most people but does prefer to be by himself in his terrarium.  At this time, Puff needs to go to an experienced bearded dragon or reptile owner.  Puff enjoys children and does wonderfully during our education presentations.  He also loves to eat crickets and mealworms.  Finally, he enjoys car rides and music as well.  If you are interested in adopting Puff, please fill out an application above.

Mushu

BREED: Bearded Dragon

AGE: 10 Years

Mushu was owner surrendered to RDF when her family could no longer care for her.  She is on the older side for a dragon.  She loves to swim and play in her water.  She enjoys strawberries as well as watching television.  Mushu also enjoys playing ball with her new best friend Lickety Split, a Boston Terrier.  We don't recommend that you let your dragon play with your dogs but these two have become good friends under the constant supervision of Mushu's new owners.  Mushu loves the Animal Planet channel, especially the funny videos, and her favorite movie is Mulan since that's where her name came from.

Gonzo

BREED: Parrotlet

AGE: Young

Gonzo came to RDF when he was abandoned by his owner at a local vet hospital.  He is a young bird and is still learning how to sit on your finger.  Gonzo is very cute and enjoys talking to his foster birdie friend.  In fact, he is trying to mimic her along with a word or two that his foster parents say.  He would do best in a cage by himself since he isn't very forceful when it comes to food or water.  He is easily intimidated by the other birds he is caged with whether they intend to be scary or not.  But he does enjoy "talking" between cages to his birdie siblings or to his owners.  If you are interested in adopting Gonzo, please feel out an application above.
