Meet Mickey, our 1,000th rescue animal!  Mickey is your "All-American Mutt" with basset hound legs, a lab head with sheltie ears, and a retriever coat with cattledog markings.  He's about 9-12 months old and he sure is a cutie!  Mickey could win anyone over with his wonderful personality and sweet disposition. Emma came to Red Dog Farm after being found wandering the streets by the staff at Emerald Pointe. Emma is a little on the shy side and is learning to trust humans. We don't think she has ever really known the compassion of humans.  Instead, we think she just got loose from someone's backyard. She LOVES her people and enjoys visitors. She needs a little bit more confidence to be the PERFECT rottie but thanks to Adam and Valerie of Shiloh K-9 she is well on her way. Ruby came to Red Dog Farm after being found trying to herd horses in someone's pasture. Ruby is a sweet girl with plenty of energy and life still left in her. Her foster mom says she acts more like a three year old dog rather than a seven year old girl.  Ruby has a herding instinct and loves to chase cats. She does well with other dogs and loves people. She would do best in home that could incorporate her in to some of their daily activities, like picking the kids up from school or getting the mail. She enjoys walks and playing in the backyard. JC came to RDF after his owner passed away and he had nowhere else to go.  He has been an indoor dog before and has pretty good manners.  He doesn't seem to mind other dogs and likes people.  He has been raised with children before and doesn't seem to mind them in the least.  Since his owners passing he hasn't had a lot of attention so these days some treats, pats on the head, and some lovin' is what he craves.  JC just came to us a few days ago so his foster home is still getting to know him.  We will update you on him as we get to know him better.  But in the meantime if you are looking for a dog to love and spoil, JC would love to meet you.  Please fill out an application above if you are interested in JC. 

Update!  JC is doing wonderful in his new home.  He enjoys getting loved on, playing in the yard, and greeting visitors who come by to see him.  He is an even tempered boy who doesn't really say much but does enjoy checking out his local surroundings and taking in the day whether warm or cold.  He actually prefers dining al fresco sometimes.  He is still looking for that special someone to give him a second chance at loving a family.  He is house broken and ready to go home with his new best friend today!

“Hooch” was surrendered by his owners because their apartment complex decided to no longer allow “bully breeds.”  Hooch has been neutered and is now available for adoption.  Hooch's ideal home would be somewhere where he would have a very active owner who wanted to run with him or a very active dog for him to play with.  He has a lot of energy and needs a good outlet for it.  Hooch is friendly and gentle with people and would probably do absolutely fine with children, but is not good with cats.  If you rub his belly, he rolls over and gives it to you.

Hooch is housebroken and crate trained.  He has never been an outdoor dog and would be best suited for an indoor, active home.

Update!  Hooch is now being fostered by Shiloh K-9, where he is working on nice manners so that he can control his energy and not jump up on people.  He will be a great dog when finished with his training.

Bruiser came to Red Dog Farm after being left behind by his previous owners.  Bruiser has been vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.  Despite being left behind, he loves people and enjoys giving kisses.  He loves playing with his foster sibling Sophie (pictured below) and Rocket.  He also enjoys cuddling and watching television with his humans.  He does well with kids and doesn't mind cats either.  Bruiser is your perfect gentleman and would love to find a family of his own.  Bruiser is such a good dog that RDF volunteers named him after the dog in the movie "Legally Blonde" because that is who he reminded them of.  If you are interested in adopting Bruiser, please fill out an application above.

Roxy came to Red Dog Farm when her owners could no longer keep her after their apartment complex decided that Rotties were no longer allowed.  Roxy is FANTASTIC!  She loves other dogs, adults, kids, and any other animal or person she meets.  Roxy doesn't have a mean bone in her body.  She even submitted to the horses in her foster home although they were slightly puzzled by her behavior.  She knows how to sit and come.  She enjoys following her foster mom or human visitors around.  She is completely housebroken and doesn't seem to mind a crate either.  Roxy walks quite nicely on leash.  We can not say enough good things about her.  Roxy is a wonderful ambassador for her breed and for rescue dogs.  If you are looking for a loving companion to be totally devoted to you, Roxy would love to come home with you.  Please apply for Roxy above by filling out the adoption application.

Meet Sophie... Sophie came to Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network when her owners could no longer keep her.  She is a fantastic dog with a great personality.  She loves everyone and is calmer than you might think.  She has all of the good characteristics of a Jack Russell and Dachsund and none of the bad.  She is house broken, crate trained, and social.  Sophie rides well in a car and enjoys going places.  She is looking for a family, a couple, or a single person to be her new best friend.  Everyone who meets Sophie loves her instantly.  If you are interested in adopting Sophie, please fill out an adoption application above.

The Muppets have come to Summerfield, NC and to Red Dog Farm!  These five adorable puppies were found abandoned under a local house.  Mom took very good care of them and they all are happy and healthy.  The foster mom reports that they are very sweet, snuggly, and well behaved for abandoned pups.  All five of them are looking for a forever to settle down in.  So if you have ever wanted your very own Muppet, were a Jim Hensen fan, or just want a great soon to be dog, these guys are for you.  We are still getting to know each of them individually but in the meantime the foster mom can't find a single thing wrong with any of them.  They will be ready to go to their new homes on August 2nd after they have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting any of them, please fill out an adoption application above.

Harrison came to Red Dog Farm when his owners could no longer keep him.  Harrison is a fabulous dog!  He is perfectly house broken, crate trained, and has excellent manners.  He enjoys snuggling under the covers with you.  He also enjoys talking with you and "rooing" at you.  Harrison does well with other dogs but can be picky about who his permanent roommates are.  He is a doll to take for walks and is titled in several competitive sports.  Harrison is a sight hound and must be leashed when outside at all times unless in a safely contained area.  He does like to chase things so we are cautious about which cats he goes out with.  He has lived with one before and can live with one again depending on the cat.  Harrison would do best with someone who truly understands the joys and trials of living with a "sight hound."  Oh and did we mention he's fabulous?!  If you are interested in adopting Harrison, please fill out an application above.

Thelma (top photo) and Louise (bottom) came to Red Dog Farm when they were found having quite the adventure under someone’s home.  It appears that the puppies had been dumped and were just starting their grand journey to find a forever home.  These puppies just love to play and meet new people. They are great in a car and love walks. Thelma is more outgoing than Louise, but when it comes to a daily adventures, such as playing ball, they are both up for it. They are great family dogs and all they want is a place to call home. The family that found them said they are playful and do well with other dogs. Harley came to Red Dog Farm when his owners could no longer keep him because of a move and financial change.  Harley is a fantastic boy!  He is house broken, crate trained, LOVES people and kids of all ages.  Harley doesn't mind the cat or bunny in his foster home and is just a happy go lucky man.    He plays great with the other dogs in the house.  If you are looking for a mature dog that is still in the prime of his life, Harley is the boy for you!  If you are interested in adopting Harley, please fill out an application above.

Blue was found as a stray wandering a local neighborhood.  Blue is as friendly as they come.  She has never met a stranger and ABSOLUTELY ADORES children and babies.  You will never have to clean their hands again if you don't want to.  Oh, she likes adults too.  She does well with other dogs.  She is a little focused on the cats but is learning to ignore them.  Blue would be a fantastic family dog.  She walks well on a leash.  Blue is your all around American dog who loves fun, family, and friends.

Charlotte was found wandering the streets in Guilford County.  She is a well behaved girl with some energy.  She is completely obedience trained, house broken, and crate trained.  She LOVES to play with kids, adults, and dogs.  Charlotte is always up for an adventure whether that would be exploring the backyard, walking the neighborhood, or heading to the beach.  She also enjoys cuddling up on the couch for a good movie after a long day of work.  She would love a family to call her own. 

Charlotte doesn’t understand why no one wants her.  She thinks it is because she is so plain looking and that no one wants to adopt a mostly black dog.  We tell her every day that she is a fantastic, gorgeous dog and that some day the perfect family for her will come along and adopt her.  We all know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.  We know that once you meet Charlotte and spend some time with her, you will fall in love.  So if you are looking for a playful, young dog to call your very own, Charlotte is your girl!

Mr. Snuffleupagus, or "Gus" as his friends call him, came to Red Dog Farm after being found on someone’s doorstep. Gus was a little on the shy side at first but has quickly learned that humans are fun.  He has loved everyone he has encountered and warms up to people quickly.  Gus is lovable, people-oriented, and aims to please. The family who found him says he is very sweet and loves to play.  Gus enjoys playing Frisbee in the backyard as well.  He is brand new to the Red Dog program so we will update you more as we get to know him. "Lacy" was surrendered when her family moved to a new apartment that didn't allow dogs.  She was raised with two children and loved them dearly.  She has settled in nicely to her foster home and gets along great with all five resident dogs.  Lacy is crate trained, housebroken and is being Invisible Fence trained in her foster home.  She has short, squatty legs sort of like a basset hound and is just adorable!  She's a happy girl with a very sweet "happy go lucky" personality.  Lacy will make a great addition to any family!

Lacy absolutely loves to ride in the car and will hop on in if you open the door and invite her. She is also good with the cat in her foster home.

Another great thing about Lacy is that she listens very well off-leash and has no desire to run away.

Update!  Lacy is currently on trial with a family who has a second home in North Carolina but lives primarily in Florida.  She fit in great in their house here, so they have taken her to Florida for three weeks to see if this Carolina girl will like life in the Sunshine State!

Barbie came to Red Dog Farm as an owner surrender due to financial difficulties. Like Barbie, she got her name by being a fashionable pup. She is cute as a button and loves to play with her toys.  Her previous owner said that she loves to sleep in bed with her and cuddle.  Barbie gets along very well with cats, but can be intimidated by dogs several times bigger than her.  Barbie doesn’t mind playing dress up and enjoys relaxing in her hot pink travel carrier when you are on the go.  All Barbie wants is a family that will love her. * We have been flooded with applications for Gracie.  We hope that some applicants will consider another one of our dogs in need, or will contact Triad Golden Retriever Rescue.

Gracie is not a typical rescue dog because she is an AKC registered purebred puppy who came from a very loving home.  Gracie's owners decided they could no longer keep her because their older dog could no longer really tolerate her.  Instead of selling Gracie, they asked that we find a loving home for her.  Gracie is doing fantastic in her foster home.  Her new doggie foster sibling and foster parents couldn't be happier with her.  Gracie is crate trained and housebroken.  She is a submissive peer at times but we expect her to grow out of that.  She is learning basic manners and already knows to sit and come when she is called.  Gracie LOVES to play with humans or doggie friends.  She would make a wonderful addition to anyone's home. 

Gracie has already been fully vaccinated and will be spayed on June 14th so she will be ready to go to her new home after that.  Because she is registered, under a year old, and fully vaccinated, her adoption fee will be $300.00.

Snoopy came to Red Dog Farm when her owners could no longer keep her.  Snoopy does great with children and adults.  She LOVES to be where you are but doesn't seem to mind her crate either now that she has gotten use to it.  She is curious about the cats but doesn't go after them.  Snoopy does enjoy the company of other dogs once she is introduced to them.  She prefers to say hi first.  Snoopy is the perfect size for any home.  She is about 30 to 35 pounds.  Snoopy enjoys playing, going for a walk, or curling up with you on the couch for a good movie.  Basically, she just wants to have fun.  If you are interested in adopting Snoopy, please fill out an application above.

Honey came to RDF when her owners could no longer give her the time and attention she deserves.  Honey is a 2 year old Chihuahua that is sweet once she warms up to you.  She was very scared when she first came to us but now has learned that the staff loves her and she gives love in return.  She would do best in a household with no young children and with consistent loving adults.  At some point, we think she had a run in with some not so nice people that scared her so she takes a few minutes to warm up to folks.  She has quickly started to trust people again, especially her foster parents, so we expect her to be a happy, healthy, typical Chihuahua in no time.  We are still getting to know Honey and will up date you on her as we get to know her better.  If you are interested in adopting Honey, please fill out an application above.

Update!  Honey is doing fabulously in her foster home.  Unfortunately, her first adoption fell through at the last minute due to unexpected financial issues.  The family reports that she did wonderfully with them.  Honey gets along well with the other dog in the house, loves her young human and foster mom. 

Phoebe was given to RDF after having a litter of puppies.  The family decided that they could no longer keep her.  She does great with other dogs, cats, and adults.  She is also good with children although a family with children over 7 would probably be best.  She is a little on the shy side when she meets new strangers. Wilson came to Red Dog Farm when his owner could no longer keep him. Wilson has already been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped so he is ready to go to his new home. He is a calmer, well mannered dog. He knows his basic commands and enjoys hanging out with his humans. He doesn't mind other dogs or cats. Wilson is an angel in his crate and is house broken. Alice came to RDF after being found by a good samaritan wandering the streets.  We named her Alice after Alice in Wonderland.  She is very cute and well behaved.  Alice enjoys a good time and doesn't seem to have a mean bone in her body.  She likes other dogs, cats, and people.  Alice is a great size for any family.  She is fun and respectful of people's space.  Alice will be vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed shortly.  She would make a great family dog for any size family.  We will update you on Alice after she has had a few days to settle in to her foster home.  If you are interested in adopting Alice, please fill out an application above.

Sasha is your typical gentle giant.  She is a full grown St. Bernard/ Great Pyrenees mix who loves children and kids of all ages.  She does well with other dogs and didn't mind the office cat, Kiwi, in the least.  She would do well with a busy family willing to include her in their regular activities.  She is house broken and knows her basic manners, such as sit, stay, and come.  She hasn't quite realized her own size and does tend to lean a little on her beloved humans.  Finally... yes, she drools.  However, not as much as she could.  She doesn't mind her mouth being wiped and you may even be able to teach her to wipe it herself.  If you have room in your home and heart for this gentle giant, please fill out an application above.

Poquita came to RDF after being found hit by a car.  Lucky for her, a very nice lady scooped her up and took her to a local vet's office.  Even luckier for Poquita, she received no real injuries besides a scrape on the nose.  The local vet called RDF and our volunteers were more than happy to help this sweet little puppy find a safe place to stay until we can find her a forever home.  We named her Poquita (meaning "little one" in Spanish) in honor of her size and Cinco de Mayo since that's the day we met her.  However, her friends often call her "Po" for short.  Poquita will be ready to go to her new forever home on May 19th.  She has been vaccinated and will be spayed and microchipped next week after a few days of rest.  Po is a sweet and slightly shy girl.  She enjoys being cuddled, petted, and held by anyone who is willing.  She appears to do well with other dogs, cats, and kids.  We will update you on Po as we get to know her better.  If you are interested in adopting Po, please fill out an application above

This litter of puppies was found abandoned by a good samaritan at a local campground.  We can't believe someone would just abandon them.  They are great puppies and have a desire to learn new things.  They are typical Aussie/Cattle dog mixes - checking out everything, wanting to be with you, and aim to please their humans.  They would enjoy a single person, a couple, or a family.  All of them do fine with other dogs, cats, and kids.  They even do well with the farm animals that they have met.  They will be ready to go to their new their new homes after April 27.  They have been vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and spayed/neutered.  If you are interested in adopting them, please fill out an application above.

Uno came to Red Dog Farm because his owners could no longer keep him.  They got him when he was just 4 months old after his brother was stolen from the backyard.  Lucky for Uno, he was left behind and made his way to a safer neighborhood where he was able to grow up to a handsome young man.  Uno is great with kids, likes other dogs, and doesn't mind cats.  He is an all around great dog and would make a wonderful addition to anyone's home.  He loves to play.  He is a little shy at first when meeting a new person but is quickly learning all humans are great from the first moment you meet him.  He is an absolute dream with his foster parents and the RDF volunteers.  Uno loves to please and is looking for a family willing to teach him new tricks.  If you are interested in giving the handsome boy a home, please fill out an adoption application above.

Jasmine was pulled from a backyard where she lived in an 8X8 dog lot and got very little to no attention from her actual owners.  However, the neighbors loved her and couldn't leave her there when her family moved.  Jasmine is a young girl that craves attention.  She is a smart girl and loves to get some exercise and then spend the rest of her day pleasing you so that you will pet her in return.  She gets along great with people and enjoys other dogs.  She probably would not do well at this time with cats (too much fun to chase).  Do you have a little room for this girl to finally get to stretch her legs?  If so, please fill out an application above.

Millie came to RDF when her owner could no longer keep her and after being boarded for 5 months at a vet hospital.  At first, Millie was afraid of grass and her own shadow.  After several weeks of rehabilitation at Shiloh K-9, Millie is doing great!  She is no longer afraid of grass or of her own shadow.  She enjoys spending time playing with other dogs and getting walked by the children in her foster home.  Millie is house broken and crate trained.  She walks well on a leash and knows basic commands such as sit and come.  Millie is now enjoying life and knows that she will always be loved.  If you are interested in adopting Millie, please fill out an application above. 

Hi my name is Butterbean. I am a 5 year old spayed female French Bulldog. My mother had to give me up due to some financial hardships. I am very much your typical Frenchie.  In fact, they tell me that the breed is affectionately nick-named "Frog-Dog" and I fit this to a "T". You couldn't find a sweeter and more funny girl than me. If I could play all day I would, whether it is with my favorite ball, other dogs, or with my foster mom's 10 year old child. I LOVE people of all ages.  I don't mind my foster kitty siblings either.  I am crate-trained and 90% housebroken (I sometimes forget to stop playing and ask my foster mom to take me outside). I am spayed and current on my vaccinations and heartworm prevention.  I am looking for a home interested in playing with me and just loving me.  If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application above.

Update!  Taquito is doing great in his foster home.  He loves playing with the other dogs in the home and doesn't mind the cat either.  He also loves to play with kids and enjoys the company of adult visitors as well.  He is crate trained and house broken as well.  He still needs to be neutered so he won't be ready to go to his new home until the week of March 8th.  If you are interested in knowing more about Taquito or want to adopt him, please fill out an application above. 

Hero came to RDF when his owners had to move in to an assisted living home and could no longer care for him.  Hero is currently overweight due to overfeeding and a thyroid condition.  His foster mom, veterinarian, and the rest of the RDF staff are helping him to slowly lose that weight and get his thyroid under control.  We expect for him to be a happy, healthy boy in several weeks and continue being a typical sheltie.  He also had to be shaved due to lack of grooming, his weight, and untreated thyroid condition.  We expect him to return to his prior good looks shortly as the hair grows back.  In the meantime, we reassure him everyday that he is handsome and still loved.  Hero is a wonderful boy despite these bumps in the road.  He loves to be petted, enjoys going outside, and alerts his owners about newcomers just like a typical sheltie.  He is one of the nicest shelties we have ever met.  If you are interested in knowing more about Hero or adopting him, please fill out an application above.  We will continue to update you on Hero as he gets better and settles in to his foster home. 

Update!  Hero is doing better and has lost 6 pounds!  We are still working out what level of thyroid medication Hero needs to be on and he is getting his levels checked every two weeks initially until he loses some more weight and his thyroid levels out.  Hero may always need thyroid medication but at least it isn't too costly.  He also won't need his thyroid checked as frequently once he gets a little healthier.  Hero needs someone who will help him continue exercising, make sure he gets his meds, and won't overfeed him.  In return he will be your best buddy, whether as a snuggle bug or avid adventure seeker.  Hero rides beautifully and doesn't care where you go as long as you are together. 

Update! - 2/3/10 -  Look at Hero now (third photo)!  He has come a long way in just one month of being with us.  He lost almost half of the weight that he needs to lose and boy is he feeling better.  When Hero first came to us, he was tremendously overweight and felt horrible.  He would eat, sleep, and potty.  Today, he is starting to play, chases his doggie siblings, runs the fence with the neighbor dog, and is starting to learn how to play with toys.  He still has more weight to lose but now that he can walk easier and has more energy we are hoping the pounds will continue to fall off.  Way to go Hero... keep up the good work!

Update! - 2/17/10 - Hero joined us Saturday night at the Have A Heart Fundraiser and enjoyed every minute of getting doted on by adoring fans.  He loves people and all of the attention that comes with being someone's companion.  Hero has started playing more in his foster home and even getting into some mischief.  He enjoys pulling dirty laundry out of the basket, especially socks, and trying to play keep away.  He's slowly learning that his foster parents will play with him when he pulls the dog toys out rather than the socks.  We continue to smile bigger and bigger everyday has Hero re-learns the joys of an active lifestyle.  He is still looking for a home and promises to be unforgettable to us and to his new furever home.

Update! - 4/12/2010 - Hero is doing fabulous and is now down in the 55-60 pound range.  He is looking quite handsome as you can see in the first photo.  He joined all of the RDF volunteers at the Oak Ridge Horse Show and had a great time getting loved on by his adoring fans.  We are so proud of Hero.  He is loving his thinner self and enjoys playing in the backyard with his foster siblings and going for longer and longer walks.  Stay tuned to find out more about his weight loss and new doggie self...

This young boy was found wandering the streets of Greensboro and was almost hit by a car before a nice lady picked him up and brought him to RDF.  He is very sweet and outgoing.  We are currently looking for his owners.  If you know of someone who is missing a dog, please ask them to check him out.  We will hold him for ten days before proceeding with additional medical work.  If you think this is your dog or know whose dog it might be, please contact us at reddogfarm@triad.rr.com.  We will continue to update you on his story as it unfolds.

Update!  Found dog has found his owners and is now safe and sound back with them.  We love happy endings.  Thank you to everyone who helped us locate his owners. 

Cassie came to RDF after her owner was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Cassie is a young, energetic dog that is looking for a family to call her own.  She is a typical golden who loves everyone no matter their age, size, or gender.  She would do best in a family home, active young couple, or someone with a fenced in backyard.  She loves to run and play just like a typical young dog.  She loves to be with you and enjoys getting petted by anyone and everyone.  We have yet to find a stranger she didn't like.  She also loves the dog park and would love to accompany you on your errands.  She also does great with other dogs.  We don't know about cats yet.  If you are interested in meeting or adopting Cassie, please fill out an application above.  

Reese came to RDF after being found as a stray in High Point, NC.  Reese is a very sweet and calm dog.  She does well with children of all ages.  She is housebroken and gets along well with other dogs.  Her foster family describes her as "the dream dog."  She is learning new tricks to show off to potential new families.  We will continue to update you on Reese as we get to know her better.  If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an application above.

JC came to RDF after his owner passed away and he had nowhere else to go.  He has been an indoor dog before and has pretty good manners.  He doesn't seem to mind other dogs and likes people.  He has been raised with children before and doesn't seem to mind them in the least.  Since his owners passing he hasn't had a lot of attention so these days some treats, pats on the head, and some lovin' is what he craves.  JC just came to us a few days ago so his foster home is still getting to know him.  We will update you on him as we get to know him better.  But in the meantime if you are looking for a dog to love and spoil, JC would love to meet you.  Please fill out an application above if you are interested in JC. 

Update!  JC is doing wonderful in his new home.  He enjoys getting loved on, playing in the yard, and greeting visitors who come by to see him.  He is an even tempered boy who doesn't really say much but does enjoy checking out his local surroundings and taking in the day whether warm or cold.  He actaully prefers dining al fresco sometimes.  He is still looking for that special someone to give him a second chance at loving a family.  He is house broken and ready to go home with his new best friend today!

Howie was found roaming the streets of Greensboro when he befriended local vet staff at Sedgefield Animal Hospital and Dental Center.  He is a young boy only about 1 -2 years old.  He was badly matted and very skinny.  He has now been groomed and enjoys eating whatever you give him.  Howie is an active boy and now LOVES everyone.  He does fine with other dogs, doesn't mind the cats in his foster home, and would do fine with children.  He is also working on his basic commands.  He was just recently neutered and vaccinated.  He is now ready to go to his new home.  If you are looking for a fun dog to call your very own and are interested in Howie, please fill out an application above.

Bebe is the last of her litter and for some reason no one wants to adopt her.  She is going to be a small dog when full grown (under ten pounds).  She is an active puppy who loves attention.  She will need someone willing to socialize her and work with her on her big girl manners.  She would do fine in a house with other dogs, cats, and children.  Bebe would also benefit from a puppy class or two.  Not because she is a bad girl but it will help her with socializing.  She is working on her house breaking, crate training, and other adult manners.  She is catching on quickly.  Are you able to give Bebe a loving environment in which to continue growing?  If so, please fill out an application above.

Meet Ginger... the all around American Cocker Spaniel.  Ginger just recently came to RDF after her previous family ran into some financial difficulties.  Ginger is up to date on all her vaccines, spayed, and ready to go to her forever home.  She has never met a stranger she didn't like, enjoys children, and exploring all the new places she gets to visit.  She is a happy go lucky girl with not a mean bone in her body and quite the tail wagger when it comes to affection.  She doesn't mind other dogs and will follow them wherever they go.  She knows her basic commands and is just looking for that special family to love her, feed her, and play with her.  In return, she will be your faithful and loving companion.  If you are interested in adopting Ginger, please fill out an application above.  She can't wait to meet you!

Update!  Ginger is doing great in her foster home.  She recently went on trial with a family but it didn't work out.  Ginger was wonderful in the home but the resident 12 year old dog had no interest in having a new sibling in her old age.  So Ginger with her sweet personality is still available.  She enjoyed her overnight slumber party and was an excellent house guest.  If you are looking for a little friend all our own or another furry friend for your home, Ginger is your girl.  She didn't mind not being friends with the 12 year old dog so you won't have to worry about any sibling rivalry on her part.  She is more than happy to entertain herself or play with other dogs in the house.  Like we said before, she is just the all around American Cocker Spaniel. 

Georgianna, or "Georgi" as her friends call her, was rescued by a very nice family after 4 months of trying to catch her.  She finally decided to come in when the weather got cold.  Georgi has taken to life in the house very well.  She appears to be housebroken, loves her crate, and doesn't mind her foster sister Kayle the Ridgeback at all.  Georgi was very pregnant when she came to us and we are expecting puppies any day now.  Georgi will be spayed once the puppies have been weaned in about two months.  We are still taking applications on her and will take applications on the puppies starting a couple weeks after they are born.  If you are interested in adopting Georgi or one of her pups, please fill out an application above.  We will continue to update you on momma and pups as we get to know all of them. 

Update! Georgi had 6 precious puppies on January 10th!  She is a wonderful mom.  There are 5 boys and 1 girl in the litter.  Everyone is doing great and eating well.  We will update you as they continue to grow.

Georgi (Picture #1) - Reserved for the Goodchild Family

Update!  Georgi and her pups had their first vet visit today and got an A++ from the vet.  They are all happy and healthy little ones and momma is great!  Georgi is heartworm negative, vaccinated, and just needs to get spayed once the puppies are weaned.  They have almost tripled in size since they were born.  Their eyes and ears have opened.  We will be updating thier pictures shortly so everyone can see how big they are now. 

Update!  All of Georgi's puppies have now gone to their new homes.  Georgi will be going next week to hers after she has been spayed this week.  Please continue watching our website for updated animals in need or success stories about animals that have found their forever. 

Cowboy came to RDF after a local high school student found him wandering her neighborhood.  He is an intelligent boy that aims to please.  He already knows to sit and is working on coming and staying.  He has also learned to walk politely on a leash and doesn't wander far from his humans.  He loves other dogs, all humans, and doesn't seem to mind the cat either.  In fact, Cowboy quite enjoys just hanging out with the cat.  He doesn't chase him or try and herd him.  Cowboy is looking for a forever home that will love him, teach him new tricks, and let him hang out with you.  If you are interested in adopting Cowboy, please fill out an application above.

Cooper came to RDF after being found as a stray by one of our volunteers.  He is an excellent dog and has wonderful manners.  He loves belly rubs, other dogs, and doesn't seem to pay attention to the cats in his foster house.  He knows how to sit and is working on laying down and staying.  His a little tough to train at the moment because he just gives you his belly if he doesn't kow what you want.  He doesn't jump and never really barks either.  Cooper just wants to be loved and give love in return.  We are still getting to know Cooper and will continue to update you on him as we continue to get to know him.  If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Cooper, please fill out an application above.

Update!  Cooper is doing wonderful in his foster home.  He has fit in like he has been there his whole life.  He loves to cuddle on the couch, hang with the other critters, and socialize with anyone and everyone he meets.  If you are looking for that special dog to add to your home that just sort of fits, Cooper is your man.  He is sweet, loving, gentle, and kind.

Carter is a fabulous 3 year old Beagle/ Shepherd who was originally found as a puppy wandering the parking lot of the local McDonald's.  His family found him as a puppy and hoped to keep him forever, except financial circumstances changed and they were unable to continue caring for him.  Carter is in fantastic shape!  He has been kept up to date on all vaccines and is already neutered.  He gets along with other dogs and absolutely LOVES kids, including babies.  He would love a forever family to call his own.  If you think you are the right family for Carter, please fill out an adoption application above. 

Winston came to RDF after a good samaritan found him on the side of the road.  Winston has been vaccinated and will be neutered next week after his 7 day stray holding period.  He is a cute little dog and weighs around 15 pounds.  He is appropriately active, non-barker, and apparently house trained.  He also is a non-shedder.  We will update you on Winston as we get to know him better.  If you are interested in adopting Winston, please fill out an application above. 
 

Gracie came to RDF along with her sister Sophie when her owners were no longer able to care for her.  Gracie is about ten pounds and a lot of fun.  She enjoys being petted by anyone and everyone that will.  Gracie is house broken and crate trained. She is cute yet spunky and does everything with enthusiasm.  For instance, Gracie doesn't just lie down she flops down in a frog leg position.  It's very cute.  She loves people of all sizes, pays no attention to cats, and doesn't mind other dogs as long as she gets petted too.  We will update you more on Gracie as we get to know her better.  If you are interested in adopting Gracie, please fill out an application above.

Noel came to RDF as a stray that was picked up by a good samaritan who did not realize how pregnant she really was. Just a few days after coming to RDF and her new foster home, Noel gave birth to eight adorable puppies. Thanks to a natural momma and a great foster mom all eight puppies survived and are thriving in their home.  Noel and the pups have received excellent vet checks and are well on their way to being happy and healthy adult dogs. The pups are already starting to develop personalities.  Let's not forget about Noel, though, who is a very sweet, caring, and loving mother.  She is an active dog who would like an active household.  The pups will be spayed and neutered on November 11th and 12th and will then be ready to go to their new homes. Noel will be ready to go to her new home around the same time.  If you are interested in adopting Noel or one of her pups, please fill out an application above.

Luna is a 4 - 5 week old puppy that was found hiding under a bush in a local parking lot.  She is the cutest little puppy you will ever meet.  She loves to be snuggled and eats like a champ.  She loves to be with other dogs, people, cats, etc.  She has already been schooled by one of her foster kitty siblings not to get too close but she loves to curl up with the other kitties in the house.  We expect Luna to be about 60 pounds when full grown.  She is a gorgeous silverish blue color.  Luna won't be ready to go to her new home for about 3 - 4 more weeks but we are currently taking applications on her.  If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Luna, please fill out an application above.  We will update you on her progress as we get to know her better.

Sophie came to RDF along with ther sister Gracie when their owner could no longer care for them.  Sophie is very sweet, gentle, and loves everyone.  She is house broken and crate trained.  She is in good health and her only concern is regular groomings to keep her hair in good condition.  Sophie was immediately scooped up by an older gentleman who recently lost his wife.  He has been looking for a new companion to share his days with and Sophie was more than willing to be that special companion.

Update!  Ares isn't sure why he is the only puppy left of all of his siblings.  He is a great puppy who is learning all of the basic manners that any puppy should have.  He knows how to sit, not jump, and how to be respectful of older dogs.  Ares does great with cats, horses, goats, and kids too.  He is beginning to think no one wants him because he is ugly.  We tell Ares every day that he is adorable.  In fact, he has a unique black coloring with a brownish undertone that makes him extra special.  He is working on his housebreaking manners and is just generally a smart puppy.  He doesn't go far out of his foster mom's sight and comes when called.  Can you help us convince Ares that he is wanted and loved?

Nina was surrendered along with Olivia (below) when their owners could no longer care for them.  Nina is the younger one of the two but is just as well mannered.  She doesn't seem to mind other dogs or cats.  She stood beautifully for volunteers while they gave her a bath and blow dried her.  She was a dream for the vet during her initial exam and loved the attention of all of the vet staff and RDF volunteers.  The volunteers and staff can't say enough good things about her. We will update you more on Nina as we get to know her but hopefully she finds a forever home for the holidays.

Olivia was surrendered along with Nina (above) when their owners could no longer care for them.  Olivia has adapted quite easily and nicely to indoor life.  She loves to be petted and doesn't have a mean bone in her mind.  She did wonderful for RDF volunteers when they gave her a bath.  In fact, even giving them kisses while they blow dried her.  She loves her new dog and cat siblings and even lets the kitten chew on her feet, legs, and whiskers.  Olivia has to be one of the sweetest labs we have ever met.  All she wants to be is petted and loved.

Happy came to RDF when her owners could no longer keep her due to a housing situation.  She got her name because she truly is a happy dog.  Occasionally a loud noise will scare her but she generally just loves to play, whether with you or with other dogs.  Although she hasn't met a cat yet we think she would do well with them.  She does need to be groomed from time to time but is in great health.  If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Happy, please fill out an application above.

Ranger was found wandering the streets of the Triad.  He just came to RDF so we are still getting to know him.  He is a typical puppy who loves to play, eat, and sleep.  He is respectful of older dogs and follows them around to learn the rules.  He is learning that you potty outside every time you go out.  Ranger is even respectful of cats.  He doesn't chase or pester them, which Oscar, our office cat, appreciates.  We are expecting Ranger to be a large breed dog (about 80-100 pounds when full grown) and one that wants to please.  We will update you as we get to know him better.  If you are interested in adopting Ranger, please fill out an application above.

“Cowgirl” is a young adult female blue heeler who was found as a stray.  She appears to have been well cared for but had no identification and no microchip, so we have been unable to find her owners.  Cowgirl absolutely loves people but is not interested in other dogs at all and totally ignores them if there is a human around.  She listens beautifully off leash and has no desire to run away if there is a human to follow around.  She likes to chase cats if they run.  She loves to jump in the car, sit shotgun and go for a ride.  We have not seen her interact with cows but guess that she is a natural herding dog. 

Cowgirl is crate trained and actually goes to her crate on her own when she is ready for a nap.  Her ideal home would be somewhere that she could follow her human around all day, go for car rides and get a lot of belly scratches.  She is happiest lying at your feet or walking right next to you.  She does not pull on a leash at all as she has no desire to be more than 3 feet from her person.

Update!  Cowgirl went on a 2 week-long trial period with one of our equine veterinarians who really wanted to adopt her, but Cowgirl and the other dog in the household just never really became friends.  Cowgirl doesn't mind other dogs but would be happiest as an only dog in a lifestyle where she could be with her humans as much as possible - maybe riding along in a work truck to jobsites or at home with a stay at home mom.  She is the biggest "people dog" you can imagine.

Pogo was rescued at just 6 weeks of age because his owners were not properly caring for the flea infested puppy.  He is no worse for the wear and is enjoying being a spoiled rotten puppy in his foster home.  At only 7 weeks, he is homeless and looking for that special family to love him forever.  Pogo has received his first round of vaccines, dewormer, and will be neutered in a week or two when he is a little older and bigger.  We are taking applications on him and he is hoping to have a new family to ring in the New Year with (although he may not make it to midnight).  We will update you on Pogo as we get to know him better.  In the meantime, please fill out an application above to adopt this little guy.

Update!  We quickly figured out that Pogo comes from this quirky cute little "hop" thing that he does when he's excited or playing with others -- it's like he has little springs!  He's very well socialized and has gotten along really well with all of the "big dogs" in the office -- labs & goldens -- he holds his own!  And he's been great with kids, too.  Pogo is also a really good sleeper and snuggler, but surely doesn't like to be left alone for more than a few seconds. If you're in need of a snuggly dog who falls asleep in your lap, this one's for you!

Tootsie was owner surrendered to RDF when her owners could no longer care for her.  She is only about 10 pounds and is a fun-loving, playful little dog.  She has a few teeth concerns that need to be addressed but she is generally in good health.  She enjoys playing and following her foster mom around whenever and wherever she can.  If you are interested in adopting Tootsie, please fill out an application above. 

These pups were found laying in the middle of the road by a very nice lady on Christmas Eve.  She took them home until she could find another spot for them.  They will be getting their first set of vaccines and dewormed tomorrow.  They will stay in foster care for another week or two until they are old enough to be spayed and go to their new home.  We will up date you more on these pups as we get to know them and once they have been to their first vet appointment.  If you are interested in adopting one or both of them, please fill out an application above.

Tiger Lilly is a special little girl.  She was rescued from Hurricane Katrina by volunteers from Greensboro, brought here and adopted by a woman who loved her very much.  Her adoptive mom died from complications of surgery and Tiger Lilly is homeless once again.  She is currently in a home with a toddler, another dog and a cat and does well with all of them.  She looks like a miniature version of a big dog but is only 25 pounds.  Tiger Lilly needs a leash or a fence as she will run away if left unattended.  She has been spayed and is up to date on vaccines.  Her very social male tabby cat, Oscar (see "cats" page), now needs a home too, so if you are looking for a dog and cat duo who already play well together, he would love to be adopted with her.

Scruffy was found as a stray wandering the streets of Greensboro (see top photo).  We found his owners and returned him, but they are unable to keep him contained as they do not have a fence, so they surrendered him to us.  We had him groomed (see bottom photo) and he cleaned up quite nicely!  Scruffy is a super cute little man who needs a forever retirement home where he can lounge around and go on walks on a leash. 

Because of Scruffy's age, his adoption fee will be waived for the right family willing to adopt a sweet senior citizen.

Chrissy, Jack, and Janet were found abandoned on a doorstep in Greensboro.  They appear to be shepherd mixes. They have now been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.  They are ready to go to new homes!

They are wonderful puppies that are enjoying playing with each other and socializing with all of their foster siblings.  They have been to multiple adoption events and love attention.  They like to lick people's noses too!  They are very well behaved in the car and don't make a peep when they go for car rides. 

We don't expect these puppies to be big dogs as their paws aren't as big as a german shepherd's paws - they will probably be a nice medium size when full grown.

Scrappy came to RDF when his owner longer wanted to care for him.  He is a very happy dog that is crate trained, house broken, and 100% lovable.  In fact, his foster mom claims that he is the best company they have ever had.  Scrappy would like a permanent home for all of his future holidays.  If you have an extra stocking full of toys, even better in his mind.  Please fill out an application above to adopt Scrappy. 

Maggie was brought to RDF when her owners could no longer keep her.  She is 6 years young and if you know a terrier, you know what we mean.  Terriers, especially Fox Terriers, are the usual clowns in the group but are independent, stoic, and curious.  Maggie is definitely that.  She is a little shy or rather watchful of new situations.  Maggie prefers to know how things work before just jumping in to a conversation but once she settles in she is the life of the party.  Maggie does great with other dogs, is house broken, and can get along with some cats (although one should proceed cautiously).  Maggie is looking for her new forever home and hopes to find it soon.  In the meantime, she loves playing with her foster siblings as you can tell from the video link below.  We will update you on Maggie as we get to know her.

Andy is a sweet, laid back shepherd mix who will make a great addition to any family.  Andy likes other dogs but is also quite content to lie by his human's feet.  In fact, he is so well behaved that we used him as our "spokes dog" on News 2's Good Morning Show and he was a perfect gentleman! 

Andy is smaller than he looks in his pictures - he is only 40 pounds.  Andy has been neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.

Update!  Andy has happily settled into his foster family's life, but still needs a forever home.  His foster family has two dogs and three cats and though he and the cats needed an adjustment period, they now all get along.  Andy loves to play with his doggie foster siblings and any other dogs that visit and would probably be lonely without another doggie playmate.  His foster family calls him "Love Muffin" because he is so sweet and loving.  Andy used to be afraid when you rubbed his belly but now that he feels safe, he loves all the attention you want to give him.  He minds his manners in the house.  His only concern now is to find that special someone to love and be loved back.  Unfortunately, his first impression may not be his best if he meets you in an over-stimulated environment; but get him in a home environment and he is truly a joy. Update!  Sugar is a lovabel beagle puppy who came to RDF a few months ago when her owners could no longer care for her.  Sugar was pulled from her mom at a very young age and never learned how to properly interact with dogs, people, and all critters.  Since being in our program, she has come a long way in learning what is appropriate dog behavior and what is not.  Sugar still has her challenges and will need a special family that is willing to continue working with her.  Sugar would also do best with a family that does not have young children but would be ok with older children.  She still gets possessive of her food, toys, and other items she sniffs out.  Generally, she is a happy puppy ho loves to give kisses and play the day away.  If you are interested in learning more about Sugar, please fill out an application above.

Bianka was owner surrendered to RDF when her family found out they were moving out of the country and could no longer keep her.  She is a sweet girl and enjoys hanging out and playing with her family and boxer brother.  Bianka is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and ready for her new home.  She would make a great family dog.  If you are interested in adopting Bianka or finding out more about her, please fill out an application above. 

Bruno was owner surrendered to RDF when his family found out they were moving out of the country and could no longer keep him.  He is a wonderful, well behaved gentleman that is a shy initially but loves attention.  Bruno is up to date on vaccines, neutered, microchipped, and ready for his new home.  He would make a great family dog for someone.  If you are interested in adopting Bruno or finding out more about him, please fill out an application above. 

Shelia is a great puppy!  She absolutely loves other dogs and will play with anyone who will play with her.  Sheila is currently in a foster home with 5 dogs and a cat (and goats, etc.) and gets along great with everyone.  She is a smart, happy-go-lucky puppy who should have been named "Shadow" because she will follow you everywhere you go.  She'll be a great puppy for any active family.

Hannah came to RDF when her owners could not be found.  She is a sweet girl and appears to already be house broken and crate trained.  She has been vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped.  She gets along great with other dogs and just seems to have a happy go lucky personality.  We will update you on her progress as we get to know her.  If you are interested in adopting Hannah, please fill out an application above. 

Scooby came to RDF along with Hannah when his owners could not be found.  We believe he and Hannah joined up together and are not related.  Scooby is a shepherd mix who was horribly ridden with fleas when he was found.  In fact, he scratched himself so much from the fleas that he gave himself a skin infection.  We are waiting for his infection to clear up before having him neutered.  We anticipate that he will be ready to go to his new home around September 12.  He is a good puppy that is willing to learn and just needs to be shown what you want from him.  We will continue to update you on his progress in foster care.  If you are intersted in adopting Scooby, please fill out an application above. 

Yancey is the newest girl to RDF's dog program.  She awas found wandering around the back of someone's property.  She was very thin and dehydrated.  The property owners brought her in to their home and tried to find her owners with no luck.  Today, she is doing much better.  She has put on some weight and looks and feels better.  Yancey already knows sit and is working on staying.  She is also practicing her polite manners daily in hopes that someone will adopt her forever.  She is now spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.  We will continue to update you on Yancey as we get to know her better. 

Update!  Yancey has been spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated so she is ready to go to her new home.  She is a very polite house guest that knows how to sit and stay.  She is also learning to sit for her meals, wait before she goes out the door, and good leash manners.  She is a typical puppy that still has some things to learn but is loving every minute of school.  Yancey is very smart and will need someone who wants to continue teaching her.  She is a very good student - the type we all wish we were.  Please fill out an application above if you are interested in adopting her.

Theo is a petite young sheltie weighing in at about 12 pounds.  He is very sweet but a very shy guy.  He takes a little time to warm up to people and would do best in a quiet household.  He loves to cuddle and snuggle once he decides to come to you.  Shelties are naturally shy of strangers and new things but are very devoted to their people.  Theo will make a loyal and loving companion to someone who is willing to give him a little space initially.  He is doing wonderful in his foster home and loves his doggie siblings.  He does not have a mean bone in his body.  He just isn't sure where he fits in yet with the larger public.  He is crate trained and housebroken.  We will update you on his progress as Theo settles in to his new foster home.

Bella, Edward, and Jacob were found roaming a local neighborhood and were picked up by one of the neighbors. They came to RDF just a few days ago and are enjoying being typical puppies. Their human foster parents and siblings are enjoying loving on them and playing with them until they are ready to go to their new homes. They will  be spayed/ neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated this week so they will be ready to go to their new homes early next week (August 24th).  We expect them to be around 60 pounds when full grown and seem eager to please.  They appear to have a lab personality which fits with their general physical features.  If you are interested in adopting a lab mix puppy, please fill out an application above.  We will update you as they get older and get adopted. 

Bailey was found exploring the sights and sounds of the Triad and decided to squat at a nearby farmhouse whose owners contacted RDF when no one could locate an owner.  Bailey had no tag or microchip and was not neutered.  Bailey is doing well in foster care and gets along well with all of his new pack members.  Bailey will be ready to go to his new home after he is neutered on July 29th.  Bailey literally just came to us so we will continue to update you about him as he settles in to his foster home.  If you are interested in adopting Bailey, please fill out an application above. 

Update!  Bailey is doing great in his foster home.  He loves to play with other dogs and doesn't have a mean bone in his body.  He is just a happy little guy who is in love with life.  All Bailey needs now is someone to love life with. 

Update!  Bailey's foster home reports that he is crate trained and house broken. He would do well in an apartment or in a home.  He truly loves other dogs whether they are siblings or just neighborhood friends he doesn't care.  Bailey knows to sit and stay and is learning the command leave it.  He is a smaller boy then what his picture shows, about 20 pounds and he is already full grown.  Bailey's foster mom says he's just a happy guy looking for someone to hang out with.  

Vincent is a 5 month old Italian Greyhound.  He is a very well-behaved boy who loves to be with his people.  He is crate trained although he prefers not to be in it, especially at night.  He is a curious boy and not afraid of anything at first.  He does fine with cats but doesn't realize they don't particularly care for dogs.  Vincent doesn't mind being the only dog or having a sibling. "Granny Pepper" came to us as a very sick and timid stray.  We were not sure that she would make it but decided on a round of antibiotics to see if she would feel good enough to eat.  The antibiotics worked, the discharge cleared up and she is now eating well, going for long walks and beginning to trust humans. 

She seems to be quite a "dog's dog" and fit in with the four dogs (and the cat) in her foster home immediately - she never growled and slept with her new dog friends in their bed the first night.  She wagged her tail for the first time on her second day in foster care and will let her human foster parents pet her now, though she is still a little nervous about it. 

Granny Pepper loves to ride in the car and walks very nicely on a leash.  She has the nicest house manners imaginable and knows how to use a dog door.  She will need an angel adopter willing to take on the extra financial responsibilities of a senior dog, but we think she will be worth it.

Because of her age, Granny Pepper's adoption fee will be waived.

Update!  "Gran" as her friends refer to her is doing great in foster care.  She loves having all of her animal brothers and sisters around.  She loves to snuggle in the bed with her foster mom but still is awfully shy.  When her foster mom arrives home, she will run up and give her mom kisses on the hand and greet her along with everyone else.  She still needs an angel adopter who will love her and be willing to let Gran learn to trust them at her own pace.

Final Update!  Granny Pepper has various health problems and is still quite shy, but she is still enjoying life very much.  Because she has settled in here and become one of the pack, we've decided to let her live out the end of her life with us.  We can't do this for every elderly dog in need, but she came to us soon after we lost "The Red Dog" to cancer at the age of 15 and it just feels right to have another old soul on the farm.  Welcome to the family, Gran.
