Adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/ neutered, tested for FeLv/FIV, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.  Adoption fees are $75 for an adult cat (1 yr old +); $95 for a kitten or $150 for a pair of kittens.

For dates of upcoming adoption fairs, see our Calendar of Events.

If you are in need of low cost spay/neuter services for a cat or kitten, please contact the West Wendover Spay/Neuter Clinic at (336) 299-3999.  The clinic will spay/neuter feral cats if they are in a humane trap.

*Please note - this listing was last updated May 23rd and may not be totally up to date.  Because we bring new cats and kittens in to our program as often as we have available foster homes, please check the website often.

June

BREED: DSH

AGE: Young

SEX: Female

June and Maxie are two cuties that belonged to an elderly couple who quickly became overwhelmed after two stray cats became several cats and kittens. The couple’s home health care aide assisted in rescuing them, and a Red Dog Farm volunteer has been their foster mom naming these girls after two influential women in her life. June (AKA, “June Bug”) is a very curious and playful solid black kitty and can’t wait to have someone to play with in her new forever home. She’s a little shy at first around new people and dogs, but with time, she’ll rule the roost. Both young cats have recovered from their spay surgery (they were both pregnant) and have had their rabies shots. We believe that June less than 1 year old and Maxie is about 1 year old.

Oreo

BREED: DSH

AGE: 1 year old

SEX: Male

Oreo and Jack Sparrow are brothers from a litter of cats born to an elderly couple who kindly fed a pregnant stray cat last year.  Unfortunately, the couple was not able to care for these cats and they soon grew to be a litter of five hungry young cats and their momma.  The couple's home health care nurse contacted a RDF volunteer who helped capture them and take care of their medical needs as well as their neutering.  These two brothers are well bonded and could easily be adopted together or separately.

Oreo was very, very sick by the time he was brought in, but with medicine, love and food he rallied like the good cookie that he is and is ready to be adopted.  Oreo is the shy one, but once Jack is getting attention, he runs up for his fair share.  He can be picked up and petted quite easily after that.  Oreo is a real charmer with his super soft fur and crooked mustache and soft purr.  He too loves to play with his toy mice and a good feather.  Could you give him his home sweet forever home?

Stop by All Pets Considered on Battleground Ave. in Greensboro to meet Oreo!

Sassy and Burrito

BREED: DSH

AGE: 10 months old

SEX: Female

Sassy and Burrito came to Red Dog Farm this past December and both were very timid and scared of people.  Now almost three months later this pair has become some of the most entertaining teenager kittens we have ever seen. Sassy (full name Sasquatch) got her name because of her big personality.  She is a funny cat that loves to play with her toys.  Burrito loves to snuggle with her sister and loves to burry herself in her blanket (and she looks just like a Burrito).  Sassy and Burrito are a very bonded pair and need to be adopted together.  They would still do best in a quite home but given time will probably adjust to any living situation.  If you are interested in adopting Sassy and Burrito, please fill out an adoption application above.

Because they must be adopted together we have set their adoption fee as $75 for the pair.

Stop by Sedgefield Animal Hospital in Greensboro to meet Sassy & Burrito!

Sheena

BREED: DSH

AGE: 6 years old

SEX: Female

Sheena was originally a Hurricane Katrina survivor as an 8 week old kitten. Unfortunately for Sheena, her original owner was unable to keep her so Sheena has moved in to RDF and is now looking for a new home. As you can see from her photo, Sheena is quite the lap cat. She loves to be petted and enjoys just about any lap that she is given. Sheena is use to being an indoor only kitten and has been invisible fence trained before in order to help keep her indoors and safe. She even learned to stay out of certain areas in previous home for safety reasons. Although she no longer needs the invisible fence collar, she could be trained to it again. Sheena has an absolutely gorgeous coat and the sweetest personality you will ever meet. If you are looking for a lap kitty to lounge around with you, then Sheena is your dream girl! You can apply for Sheena by filling out the adoption application above.

Update!  Sheena has taken over the office.  In fact, she is pretty sure she can figure out how to work the funny phone contraption on our staff's desks.  In the meantime however, she greets the general public when they come by the office, inspects the foster birds to make sure they can still see and fly, and keeps us all on a strict feeding schedule so as not to miss a meal herself.  She would love to go to her new home and promises to warm your desk as you work.  She does well with other cats and doesn't mind the doggie employees either.

Sheena is being sponsored in Memory of "Benny" Costello, a beloved cat of the Costello Family.

Stop by the RDF office in Bur-Mil Park and meet Sheena!

Sasha

BREED: DSH

AGE: 1 year old

SEX: Female

Sasha came to Red Dog Farm after being found as a stray.  Unfortunately, we could not locate her owners.  She is now enjoying the creature comforts of a nice warm foster home.  Sasha just came to us so we are still getting to know her better.  Therefore, we will update you on her personality as we get to know her better.  In the meantime, she has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting Sasha, please fill out an adoption application above.

Speedy and Littlefoot

BREED: DSH

AGE: 12 weeks old

SEX: Males

Speedy came to Red Dog Farm after he and his brother were found as strays. They have been vaccinated and will be neutered and microchipped shortly. Both kittens were a little shy when they first came to us but are now turning out to be quite the love bugs. If you are interested in adopting one or both of them, please fill out the adoption application above.

Update! They have become quite the little love bugs. They are adorable. They climb into our laps to take a nap and even sleep on our bed. Their "motors" start as soon as they wake up in the morning or as soon as we walk in the door from work. The "double" motor puts a smile on my face every time I hear it, and when we see them play or chase each other through the house and wrestle each other it is hard not to laugh out loud. They are definitely people cats and want to be "where the action is." They are great with kids and will sit and snuggle with them as well.....even with those they just met. My 6 yr old niece loved having a lap full of kitten...LOL.

*Note: Speedy and Littlefoot will be adopted out together or separately.*

One-Eyed Joe

BREED: DSH

AGE: 1 year old

SEX: Male

Introducing One-Eyed Joe, The Pirate Cat.  Joe comes from the home of an elderly couple who began to feed a pregnant kitty at their home.  Needless to say, one kitty turned into many and Joe and his siblings lived on and under the back porch. Being the low cat on the neighborhood totem pole meant that he didn't get to eat as much and got beat up.  The couple's home-health care nurse managed to catch Joe and a Red Dog Farm volunteer stepped in and got his severely damaged eye removed, his shots and he is now neutered.  This pirate cat will be available once his stitches are out and he has some meat on his bones, but he sure would like a home with lots of lap time.  If you are looking for a loving kitty who will have conversations with you, then this rogue is your man.  He is timid at first, but will steal your heart when you see him roll over for belly pets, tongue peeking out as he purrs up a storm.  Will you be his safe harbor?

BREED: DSH

AGE: 2- 3 years old

SEX: Male

Sebatian was originally adopted out from RDF as a kitten. However, his owners are going through a unexpected rough patch and are no longer able to keep him or his sister, Shyla (pictured below). Sebastian is a laid back kind of cat.  He is a naturally large bone cat but does need to shed a few pounds in 2013.  In fact, it is his New Year's Resolution along with finding his forever family.  Sebastian is quite loveable and enjoys some snuggle time with his foster mom and family.  Sebastian is vaccinated and neutered so he is ready to go to his new home today.  Sebastian was previously declawed so he will need to be an indoor only kitty.  We are still getting to know Sebastian but will update you on his personality as we get to know him better.  If you are interested in adopting Sebastian, please fill out an adoption application above.

Peter Pan, Wendy & Tinkerbell

BREED: DSH

AGE: 22 weeks old

SEX: 2 Females/ 1 Male

These three kittens were found abandoned on the side of the road.  Thanks to a Good Samaritan they made it to a local vet’s office and eventually to RDF.  When they originally came to us, they were just three weeks old and still needed to be bottle fed.  They also came down with a horrible case of coccidia within two days of coming to us and were treated for it.  Today, they have fully recovered from the bout of coccidia and are starting to eat canned kitten food.  All three kittens are enjoying life and playing as any three siblings should.  They are litter box trained and will make excellent pets for any home.  They are just now developing their own individual personalities.  We will keep you updated on their kitten adventures.  In the meantime, if you are interested in adopting one or more of them, please fill out an adoption application above.

AGE:

SEX: Female

If you are looking for that companion cat who comes when called, loves a lap, can be carried around and has the biggest purr, then Misty is your girl!  She wandered up to a local manufacturing plant, sadly thin yet full of love and conversation.  The employees knew she was a keeper, but no one could take her in, so they called Red Dog Farm.  Misty has had her shots and is gaining weight so that she can be spayed.  If you are interested in adopting Misty, please fill out an adoption application above.

Shakespeare

BREED: DSH

AGE: 2 years old

SEX: Male

Shakespeare and his sister Juliet (pictured above) came to Red Dog Farm after his owner lost his home in a major fire. Fortunately for Shakespeare, he has no medical issues as a result from the fire. Shakespeare is quite the lover and is quickly warming up to everyone in his new foster home. Shakespeare has been vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped so he is ready to go to his new home after October 28th. Because of his recent trauma we are slowly assessing how he does with other cats, kids, and dogs so as not to stress him too much. Shakespeare just came to us so we will continue to update you on his personality as we get to know him better. In the meantime if you are interested in meeting or adopting Shakespeare, please fill out an adoption application above.

Shakespeare is confident enough to be adopted by himself or friendly enough with his sister to go to a new home with her.

Update!  Shakespeare is doing wonderful in his foster home.  He could care less about the dog in the house and doesn't seem to mind other cats at our adoption events.  Shakespeare is the more adventurous cat and enjoys exploring the house and socializing with his foster family.  Shakespeare would love to find his new muse so he can get started on his next play!

Update! Shakespeare has decided that he is happier being an indoor/outdoor kitty. He loves to sunbathe and explore the world too much to be cooped up all day long. Shakespeare would love a kitty door to allow him free access back and forth or at least a porch to lay about when he wants to go outside. If he lived in a safe environment he wouldn't mind being outside all the time especially if there are any butterflies to chase!

Shakespeare is being sponsored by Larry Greenwood.

Van Gogh

BREED: DSH

AGE: 10 -12 months old

SEX: Male

Van Gogh came to Red Dog Farm after being attacked by a dog.  Fortunately for him, a nice woman found him and had his initial wounds treated.  However, upon arriving at his Red Dog Farm foster home it was determined that the wounds need additional care.  He had a puncture wound over his shoulder and a slice down his leg that was very badly infected.  Today, all that remains from his trauma is the shaved hair which is quickly growing back.  Van Gogh is missing a part of his ear from the attack as well.  He is a very sweet and loving cat who CRAVES human attention and affection.  He loves to play with anyone who is in his presence and would love a furry friend to play with as well.  Van Gogh would do well in any home and doesn't seem to mind dogs at all.  We think he realizes that one bad dog doesn't mean they are all bad.  If you are looking for a playful yet loving man to bring in to your life, Van Gogh is the cat for you.  If you are interested in adopting him, please fill out an adoption application above.

Sugar, Spice, and everything Sassy... we mean nice!  These three kittens came to us after being abandoned on a neighbor's doorstep.  They are sweet but a little scared as their world has been turned upside down twice in one day.  We are happy to say that they are now resting comfortably in a foster home.  Once we get to know their individual personalities a little better, we will update everyone on them.  In the meantime, they will be scheduled for their spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines, and microchipping.  If you are interested in adopting any of these kittens, please fill out an adoption application above.

Maurice

BREED: DSH

AGE: 3 years old

SEX: Male

Maurice was originally adopted out as a kitten.  However, his family is no longer able to keep him due to an unexpected family situation.  Maurice is one of the most loving cats we have ever met.  He has yet to meet a stranger whether they are human, cat, or dog.  Maurice would do well in a forever home where he will continue to get plenty of attention and maybe have a brother to pal around with.  We are still getting to know Maurice so we will update you when we know him better.  In the meantime, please fill out an adoption application above if you would like to adopt Maurice.

T.C.

BREED: DSH

AGE: 6 years old

SEX: Male

T.C. came to Red Dog Farm after being abandoned on his neighbor's doorstep.  Fortunately for him, the kind lady took him and called RDF for help.  T.C. was so flea ridden that he was anemic and had treatment to raise his blood values.  T.C. will have no lasting effects or need any medical care now that his numbers have increased.  He will also be vaccinated and microchipped in about a week.  In the meantime, he is a happy and loveable cat who enjoys getting loved on.  His name T.C. which stands for Tuxedo Cat.  We are still getting to know T.C. and will update you once we get to know him better.  If you are interested in adopting T.C., please fill out an adoption application above.

Update!  T.C.'s mom reports you couldn't find a more loving or laid back cat in this Universe.  T.C.'s most important job in life is to keep your lap or favorite spot warm.  He is quite the snuggler and never passes up a good petting whether from his family or a stranger.  He is a bigger boy but that just means he can warm your entire lap all at once!

T.C. is being sponsored by Madeline Parrish in honor of her Dad’s birthday.

"Queenie" and her 5 adorable kittens just came into Red Dog Farm and are settling into their foster home nicely.  This litter was found abandoned on the edge of a local road.  The kittens are currently being fostered with a dog and another cat.  They also have two human siblings that are helping us socialize them. With all of this love, we know they will make an excellent pet for any family.  They are learning to use the litterbox and enjoy playing with thier toys.  Mom is still settling in a little but doesn't mind sharing her kittens with anyone.  We will update you on their individual personalities as soon as we get to know them better. Update: All of Queenie's kittens have been adopted but Queenie is still looking for her forever home!

Update: Talk about a social little girl!  Queenie has made several friends during her overnight accommodations at the RDF office.  She has befriended Hunter, our Executive Director's dog, all of the folks that have come by the office, and would love a friend in her new home.  She can't get enough attention but after a while gives you the space to work.  She just likes to see what you are doing whether at a distance in a nearby chair or on your lap.  Queenie would love to find a home fitting of her social and loving personality.

Charmer

BREED: DSH

AGE: 1 years old

SEX: Male

Hello!  My name is Charmer and I'm a 1 year old neutered male American Shorthair.  Don't I have a cool pattern on my fur?  I was dumped off at a local farm.  I don't kow why my humans did that, but I am clearly a house cat that loves people.  I wanted to be friends with my three foster mom's cats but they weren't interested.  I was afraid of her great big dogs because they wanted to chase me.  However, I bet I could be friends with a friendlier cat and dog so please don't count me out on that point.  My foster mom took me in and promised me that someone out there would want me because I am such a charmer.  I love to be cuddled and will snuggle in anyone's lap.  All I want is a family of my own.  If you are interested in being my charming family, please fill out an adoption application above.

Charmer has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped so he is ready to go to his forever home.

Buzz

BREED: DSH

AGE: 20 weeks old

SEX: Male

Poor Buzz and Jessie... they were all set to go to their new home but that adoption fell through.  However, these two have decided that the best home for them is still out there.  So they wanted us to update everyone on their progress.  Both kittens are very social and enjoy greeting new guests to their home.  Infact, Buzz quite enjoys being a lap kitten.  They have both healed from their spay and neuter surgeries and have recieved another round of vaccines. Jessie and Buzz would love to find their forever soon since their bags are already packed.  In the meantime, they will continue to greet guests, play with the foster siblings, and practice their purring for you.

Thank you to All Pets Considered for spotlighting Buzz at your store!

Sylvia

BREED: DMH

AGE: 12 Weeks

SEX: Female

Sylvia came to Red Dog Farm after being found in a storm drain.  We are unsure how she got there but she is a very sweet kitten.  She was starving when she was found but is now slowly putting on weight and eats great for her foster mom!  Sylvia LOVES people and is quite the snuggler.  We are still getting to know Sylvia.  She will be updated on vaccines next week when she is a little stronger.  She has already been tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS and she is negative!  She will be spayed in a couple of weeks when she is old enough and strong enough to do so.  In the meantime, she is happy and healthy and enjoys life as a kitten.  She should be ready to go to her new home shortly.

Update10/10/11: Sylvia has been spayed and is ready to go to her forever home. She would do best in a home where she can be an indoor/outdoor kitty. This petite girl loves to walk on the wild side and explore new things. She would even be happy living completely outdoors if it was a safe environment for her to be in. We joke all the time that if Sylvia were a person she would be into extreme sports and rock climbing. If you're looking for an adventurous gal then Sylvia is a purrfect match! If you are interested in adopting Sylvia, please fill out an adoption application above.
