Captain - Sheep

AGE: Young
SEX: Male

Captain was picked up as a stray by Guilford County Animal Control. He is a spring lamb and as sweet as they come. He loves scratches on his neck and behind his ears. He says those are tough spots to reach by himself. He is a hair sheep breed which makes him the best of both worlds: cute and fuzzy and he doesn't need shearing. He would love to find a herd to join to help keep him warm this winter. He has been vaccinated and castrated. His adoption fee is $200.

Chester & Petunia - Pot Bellied Pigs

AGE: 3 years old
SEX: Male & Female (Spayed & Castrated)

Chester and Petunia were surrendered when their owner had to move and could not take them. They are three years old. He has been neutered and she has been spayed. They are very friendly and we will not separate them as they are the best of friends. They would make great "first pigs" for someone with appropriate outdoor shelter and fencing for them. Their joint adoption fee will be $400.

Casper - Nubian Goat

AGE: 6 months old
SEX: Male

This cutie came to Red Dog Farm after he was surrendered to a local animal control with bite wounds. He is now resting comfortably in his foster home. Our veterinarian has already checked him over and the bite wounds are healing fine. .

Pig Willis - Pot Bellied Pig

AGE: Young Adult
SEX: Male

Pig Willis is a one year old male potbellied pig who was surrendered to us when his owner developed lung cancer. He has now been neutered and is available for adoption. Pig Willis loves to be brushed and have his belly rubbed. His adoption fee is $150. He would probably be a good companion for Gilbert, so we will discount their adoption fees if they are adopted together.

Charles & Alexander - Pot Bellied Pigs

AGE: Young Adult
SEX: Males

Pot bellied pigs need shelter from the elements and a sturdy fence and room to run and root with their noses. If you are interested in adopting a pot bellied pig, please research their needs before applying. They are a 12 – 15 year commitment! If you are interested in adopting a pig or piglet, please read this article about pig care/requirements and then complete the online adoption application above. Charles and Alexander have been looking for their forever home for over a year now. They are great young pigs and we would love for them to be adopted together. We have reduced their joint adoption fee to $150 together or $100 each. Please help spread the word and find these boys their forever family!

Bridget - Pot Bellied Pig

AGE: Young Adult
SEX: Males

“Bridget” came to us when her owner could no longer keep her. She is about a year old, and was raised indoors. Her owner realized that pigs are not suitable as indoor pets. She was fed dog food instead of pig chow, and is terribly overweight. We are now feeding her small amounts of Mazuri pig chow to help her lose weight. Bridget is very sweet and social and loves belly rubs.

Her adoption fee is $150.

Gilbert - Pig

AGE:
SEX: Male

"Gilbert" came to us today from the Guilford County Animal Shelter. We have seen a huge increase in the number of homeless potbellied pigs lately, mostly due to the "myth" that they will stay small and make good indoor pets. Pigs are farm animals and are much happier with room to graze and at least one other pig as a companion. Gilbert is very friendly and was obviously raised as a pet before he was abandoned. He will be neutered and will then be adoptable.
Update! He has now been neutered and is available for adoption. Gilbert’s adoption fee is $150. He would probably be a good companion for Pig Willis, so we will discount their adoption fees if they are adopted together.

Doodles & Freckles - Sheep

AGE: 6 years old
SEX: Female & Male

This pair of sheep were surrendered to Red Dog Farm when their owner could no longer care for them. They are in great health other than being a overweight. Freckles is the brown one and is a boy and Doodles is white and is a girl. Both are incredibly sweet and tame. They are bonded and will only be adopted together.

Their joint adoption fee is $200.

Dixie & Bella - Donkeys

AGE: See Below
SEX: Females

These five donkeys were surrendered to us by a very nice family who had to sell their farm during a divorce. They have been handled since birth and are incredibly gentle and tame. Bandit will be gelded as soon as possible. Even as a stallion, he is an absolute doll and very, very friendly. We want to adopt them out in groups of two or three. Their adoption fee will be $600 each or $500 each if adopted with at least one other from this herd.

Bella is the daughter of Bandit and Dixie. All are registered, but we will not pass along registration information as we do not want to encourage anyone to breed them. They are all up to date on vaccines and have had their hooves trimmed recently. If you are interested in adopting these donkeys, please complete the adoption application set forth above.

Update! Bandit has now been gelded!

Hemi is a five year old gelding. - Adopted
Susi is a five year old spotted Jenny. - Adopted
Dixie is a chocolate five year old Jenny.
Bella is Dixie’s & Bandit’s baby Jenny, and Bella is six months old Jenny.
Bandit is a three year old gelding. - Adopted

Bubba - Katahdin Hair Sheep Cross

AGE: 2 years old
SEX: Male

“Bubba” was found as a stray and Durham and became quite a local celebrity there after showing up in different locations all over town. He has now been castrated and vaccinated and is available for adoption. Bubba is currently being kept in a barn simply because he is nervous and might try and jump a normal pasture fence. We would like to find a herd of pet sheep for Bubba to join as he has been alone for quite some time, and we assume that he would not try to jump a fence at all if he had a herd to join. Sheep are herd animals and are very anxious alone, so we’d love to find a herd for Bubba to join ASAP.

Bubba’s adoption fee will be waived for the perfect home where he will be a pet.

Malarkey, Malinda & Mabel - Nubian/Boer cross

AGE: Adult
SEX: Male & Females

This cute family of goats is looking for a new home and would love to stay together. Malarkey and Malinda are Mabel’s parents. Malarkey has been castrated and all have been vaccinated. Their joint adoption fee is $300.

Michael & George - Goats

AGE: Adult
SEX: Males

Michael and his brother, George, were recently surrendered to Red Dog Farm. They are extremely tame and friendly and would make great “first goats” for someone interested in adopting pet goats. These brothers are very bonded and need to stay together. Both have been castrated and are up to date on vaccines. Their joint adoption fee is $150.

Elvis - Pig

AGE: Young
SEX: Male

Welcome "Elvis!" Elvis is a super friendly young male pig who was abandoned and picked up by Randolph County animal control. We had him castrated yesterday and he is now resting comfortably in a foster home. He is very social and will roll over and give you his tummy for tummy scratches. He has obviously been raised as a pet. It is heartbreaking that so many potbellied pigs end up in shelters as soon as they grow up. Elvis will be adoptable next week and must go to a farm home.

Princess Kate's Piglets - Pot Bellied Pigs

AGE: Babies
SEX: Males and Females

"Princess Kate" came to us from a situation of neglect. She gave birth to her piglets the day we were supposed to transport her to her new foster home. She is a very sweet adult pig. Her and her piglets are doing well now that they are all settled into their foster home and are learning what true love from humans and TLC are all about. They are now weaned and ready to go to their new homes!

We would like to adopt the babies out as pairs. Their adoption fees will be $75 each.

Angus - Pig

AGE: 6 months old
SEX: Male

"Angus" came to us from the Fayetteville animal shelter. He is very social and was obviously raised as a pet before being abandoned. We see this far too often with pigs and encourage people to spread the word that they are not suitable indoor pets. He is approximately six months old and probably weighs 30 pounds, though he will likely be more like 75 - 90 pounds as an adult. Angus has recently been neutered and is now available for adoption!

His adoption fee is $150.

Rascal- Katahdin Sheep

AGE: 1 year old
SEX: Male

Meet "Rascal"! He is about a year old. He is a Katahdin Sheep and pretty small, about around 30 lbs. He's is very curious about humans and will run up to the gate when his foster mom comes in the barn. Stay tuned to for more updates as we get to know him better!

"Rascal" is being sponsored by The Tucker Family in honor of Addren Doss for her fabulous artwork and continued support of the animals!

Rascal's adoption fee is $150.00.

Natasha & Boots - Goats

AGE: Adult
SEX: Males & Females

These five goats would do best adopted together. They are still getting adjusted so please stay tuned for updates.

Boots is a gray speckled female (likely a pygmy cross) is the mother of Natasha, the brown goat. Barley is the black and white goat (possibly a Kiko cross) and is the mother of Jeffrey, the one with white with brown spots and Henry, the white with black spots (both also could be Boer crosses).

Spotty & Spiffy- Nigerian Dwarf Goats

AGE: 3 years old
SEX: Males

“Spotty and Spiffy” are super cute brothers who absolutely need to be adopted together. They came to us through a rescue contact in Morganton, NC, where they had lived on a farm but the owner was no longer able to care for them. They are quite tame and will eat treats from your hand. They appear to be very healthy other than for the fact that their horns have curled around funny and are very close to growing back in to their heads. Our veterinarian will trim their horns and fix that issue ASAP. They have been already been castrated and will be vaccinated prior to adoption. These two would be great “first goats” or a good addition to any pet herd.

Joint adoption fee: $250

Update: Spiffy and Spotty jumped the fence repeatedly in their first foster home, so we moved them to a second foster home with other goats. They are very happy there and do not try to jump (the fence is no higher than the first foster home). So, they will do best in an adoptive home where there are other goats.

Jeffrey, Barley & Henry - Goats

AGE: Adult
SEX: Males & Female

These five goats would do best adopted together. They are still getting adjusted so please stay tuned for updates.

Boots is a gray speckled female (likely a pygmy cross) is the mother of Natasha, the brown goat. Barley is the black and white goat (possibly a Kiko cross) and is the mother of Jeffrey, the one with white with brown spots and Henry, the white with black spots (both also could be Boer crosses).

Update! Barley, Jeffrey and Henry have been adopted!

Dominick - Donkey

AGE: 4 years old
SEX: Male

"Dominick" and “Peekaboo” (goat, see above) came to us today when their owner became ill and could no longer care for them. Dominick is a little bit shy but loves to be scratched if you stand patiently and give him time to approach you. They will be adoptable once our veterinarian examines them and gives them all of their vaccinations. These two are the 349th and 350th farm animals to come in to our foster network!

Dominick's adoption fee is $600 or $500 if adopted with another equine.

Princess Kate & Prince William - Pot Bellied Pigs

AGE: Adult
SEX: Female & Male

"Kate and William" are the mother and father of one of the litters of piglets in our program. William came to us intact but has now been neutered. Kate has now weaned the piglets and they are in a separate foster home. Kate and William get along very well and would love to be adopted together. Kate can be bossy to other pigs but is nice to William.

Pot bellied pigs need shelter from the elements and a sturdy fence and room to run and root with their noses. If you are interested in adopting a pot bellied pig, please research their needs before applying. They are a 12 – 15 year commitment! If you are interested in adopting Prince William, please read this article about pig care/requirements and then complete the online adoption application above.

Their joint adoption fee is $150.

Peakaboo - Alpine Cross

AGE: 8 years old
SEX: Male

"Peekaboo" and "Dominick" (miniature donkey, see below) came to us today when their owner became ill and could no longer care for them. Peekaboo is the biggest goat we have EVER seen and thankfully one of the sweetest as well. They will be adoptable once our veterinarian examines them and gives them all of their vaccinations. These two are the 349th and 350th farm animals to come in to our foster network!

Peekaboo's adoption fee is $100.

Leroy - Boer Goat

AGE: Under 1 year
SEX: Male

"Leroy" came to us from the Guilford County Animal Shelter. He was part of a puppy mill raid where animal control officers also discovered chickens and Leroy the goat. Leroy seems to have been bottle fed as he is extremely tame and likes to suck on your fingers. What a doll! He has now been vaccinated and surgically castrated under anesthesia. To help cover a portion of his vet bill, Leroy’s adoption fee is $150.

Gigi's Piglets - Pot Bellied Pigs

"Gigi" came to us from a situation of neglect. She gave birth to her piglets the day we were supposed to transport her to her new foster home. She is a very sweet older adult pig. Her and her piglets are doing well now that they are all settled into their foster home and are learning what true love from humans and TLC are all about. They are now weaned and ready to go to their new homes!

Oscar & Ginger - Pygmies

AGE: 3 years old
SEX: Male and Female

Oscar and Ginger were surrendered to us because they were not getting along with their owner’s pot bellied pigs. They are extremely tame and friendly and would make great “first goats” for someone interested in adopting pet goats. They are very bonded and need to stay together. Oscar has been castrated and both are up to date on vaccines. Their joint adoption fee is $150.

Oscar, Kleo & Sam - Kiko

AGE: 3 years old
SEX: Male

These three boys were picked up by animal control as strays and were not claimed from the animal shelter, so the shelter asked us for help. They are now settled in to a foster home and all three have been surgically castrated and vaccinated. The black goat is tame and enjoys being petted but the two white goats are still a bit shy. However, with time and treats (like Cheerios), they will be tame as well. We would love to see these boys stay together as they are definitely a bonded herd. To help cover a portion of their surgery bill, their joint adoption fee is $300.

Lulu - Pot Bellied Pig

AGE: Adult
SEX: Female

"Lulu" is a three year old pot bellied pig who is very tame and used to being petted. She can be a bit bossy if she doesn’t get her way, so she would be best suited for an experienced pig owner who knows how to be a strong alpha. She came to us overweight and is currently on a diet, so she needs to continue that diet in her new home. Lulu is used to being an only pig and is not interested in sharing her living quarters with other animals. She is very cute and will make a great pet for the right person.

Pot bellied pigs need shelter from the elements and a sturdy fence and room to run and root with their noses. If you are interested in adopting a pot bellied pig, please research their needs before applying. They are a 12 – 15 year commitment!

Lulu’s adoption fee is $75.

Update! (3rd picture) - Lulu (left-bottom) loves sleeping and playing with her with foster siblings. When Lulu first came to Red Dog Farm she was used to being an only pig and was not interested in sharing her living quarters with any other animals. As you can see, things have changed and Lulu loves having new pig friends!

Lulu is quite a dominant pig, so we would love to find her a home with another dominant pig that could teach her some pig manners.

Gigi - Pot Bellied Pig

AGE: 4 years old
SEX: Male

"Miss Gigi" is one of the sweetest, most docile pigs we have had in our program. She is very tame and enjoys attention. She came to us pregnant but has now weaned her piglets. Right now we have Miss Gigi in a paddock by herself because she is very submissive and the other adult pigs tend to be ugly to her. She would probably be happiest as a solo pig with a lot of human attention, or could share a barnyard with friendly goats, etc. Another option would be for her to be adopted with one of her piglets.

Gigi's adoption fee is $75.

Buckshot & Baby - Goats

SEX: Male

These guys just came to Red Dog Farm. "Buckshot" has been neutered and is current on vaccinations. The little fella "Baby" will be neutered and vaccinated soon. Baby had to be bottle fed after his mother passed away. He is now 4 months old and is one adorable kid. Stay tuned for more information on this handsome pair. In the meantime, if you are interested in adopting them please complete an adoption application above.

Misty - Goat

SEX: Female

"Misty" was surrendered by her owners and is in very bad physical condition. She is skinny and very anemic due to parasites. She is now being treated by our veterinarian and should make a full recovery. She will be adoptable once she is healthy and done with her treatment.
